Apprently due to Brian's on-going health issues, he is says he needs to rest and was not confident of his performance being up to the standard he would like Very concerning, to cancel that far in advance seems like is something fairly major, I sincerely hope not and it's just a lack of rest http://brianmay.com/brian/brianssb/brianssboct16a.html#13 |
cmsdrums 21.10.2016 07:52 |
He has spoken on a few occasions recently (on Soapbox, Twitter, and in fan club message) of suffering from his depression at the moment. Vey concerning for it to be so obvious and so public, and to necessitate cancelling the tour. He does take on too much work, and whilst they are mostly labours of love and passion, he really does over do it and does not really rest adequately. I hope all else is well in his home and family life, and that is helping rather than adding to his woes. |

Yes indeed - I hope Dr Bri feels brighter soon. Poor guy. |

It's a worry when we don't know exactly what the "illness" is, but obviously Brian has a right to his privacy, and may (or may not) tell us in his own good time. Let's just hope it's a matter which can be resolved by rest and that he has many more years left in him. If Chuck Berry can put out a new album at 90, there's hope for us all! :) |

Although I also find it strange that he cancels these gigs but a week or so ago he's talking about touring with Queen in 2017. I wonder if canceling the KE gigs are about being able to recover for that tour... Either way I hope Brian gets what he needs and is able to come back revitalized! |

The guys aren't getting any younger. Too much is too much. He should take a long holiday and rest. |

This is the Queenzone message board ffs. People are going to speculate to the point that they and others are going to take the speculation as fact. The best thing we can do is wish him the best and remain silent on the issue. |

I got myself in a very depleted state and have taken the decision now to clear my diary of everything until the end of the year. I'm leaving today on a big steel bird to spend some time recharging in a safe place. Need to turn off the phones and media for a while. Apologies to everyone involved in the things I will miss. I have to get away and prioritise healing - sometimes there is no choice. Bless ya all. Love Bri" |

And there we have it ! He's pushing 70. He just needs to turn it back a notch. Everyone has that little wake up call in their latter years, and this is his. This is probably his first solid rest in years He'll be fine. |

I guess Brian did too much. The massive tour this year and other activities. He's not the youngest anymore and will be 70 next year. He needs a well deserved rest and now he takes it. I hope he will recover. |
Ivo-1976 23.10.2016 08:29 |
At some point enough is enough. The guys have every right to retire. They maybe have one more tour left in them, but i doubt it. We'll see. For now, Brian and Roger should take it easy. |
Killer_queenIII 24.10.2016 01:54 |
Must have been burnout too on his part. Yeah, the Doc needs to kick it back a bit, get himself an early holiday. He needs and deserves it. |
beemack74 24.10.2016 07:23 |
Sad to hear this. I wish Brian a speedy recovery. As said previously, it's probably the first break he has had in many years. I hope he returns, in his own time, happy and refreshed. |
NickGreen 24.10.2016 14:00 |
Cancelling for Brian would be extremely difficult decision and depressing I suspect, he's probably agonising over that but I would imagine he's just exhausted, his cancer scare in '14 prob means he gets regular checkups and flying off in a big steel bird isn't what you do virtually the day after you've stopped touring/giving interviews/selling 3D glasses and so on.. I suspect (uneducated but reasonable guess) it might be something like adrenal fatigue, quite common..but will knock you for six and could account for any depression feelings..the cure - rest and relaxation..ie. A fuck off expensive break in a island paradise..I would imagine he's very fit so I'm pretty confident he will be back on form soon...we all need a rest every now and again. |

On the "didn't sell well" I investigated several venues and I didn't get the impression there was a sales issue. Just to respond to a potential troll as if they were in good faith. |

Kinda makes Brian's comment about John "not being able to cope" a bit ironic. Anyway, hope he'll feel better soon. |
matt z 28.10.2016 03:31 |
though my joke seemed unfriendly (*but witty and timely) that's unfair speculation; how would John have fared if he had toured during the last 30 years? (30+ since his last tour) |
