Today I'm very proud (vicariously) as a fan about the blue plaque on Freddie's childhood home that Brian and Kashmira unveiled today. Check the Queen and English Heritage Facebook groups for a very nice video of it.
His 70th birthday and the new boxset is getting (some) attention worldwide and good to see he's trending at the moment.
I bet we will see some awesome tributes the coming weeks.
Hope Google will do something on Sept 5th, like they did 5 years prior.
All good, but I can't believe they wrote "Fred" on it. I mean, what the fuck was in their mind when they decided Farrokh wasn't his proper birth name and "Fred" was better? Not too mention that Freddie hated it when someone called him Fred.

I'm sure I read or heard that he started referring to himself as Fred whilst still in India
It does look rather incongruous on the plaque though
I have just read Peter Hince's book (it's shit, his anecdotes are crap and bearing in mind it is called 'Queen Unseen' there are shit all photos to get excited about) and it would appear that Fred was addressed as Fred. Where is the source that says he hated being called Fred?
Can't give you a source unfortunately. I just know I heard or read it somewhere, years ago. Regardless if he actually liked it or not, it's still not his birth name. I wonder if it's a deliberate attempt by the English Heritage to make him less Indian and more... English?
