link So… is this lined up for release after being shown at the party? Why else go to the expense of remixing the sound? If so, then GREAT NEWS!! Can't wait!! Presumably the Australian footage won't be released now?! |

Screening on Freddie Birthday Party. So stupid so ugly |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 28.08.2016 07:21 |
I thought the same here. I hope it happens!!! Cheers, Ogre- |
Killer_queenIII 28.08.2016 07:44 |
Ooooh. I think I'd give it a shot. But yeah, didn't they film Australia? |
rocknrolllover 28.08.2016 08:26 |
WHAT? Screening this false gig on Freddie Birthday? What they are smoking ( Brian and Roger)? I wonder how much to get fucked up, for this ocassion ? |
Killer_queenIII 28.08.2016 09:29 |
^More like what was ol' Jim smoking? 'cos I think I'd like some of that myself. |
matt z 28.08.2016 13:36 |
Yeah that was announced and although it's not for his birthday (off one day) it's ludicrous. Could've shown the gig in TEXAS doesn't matter the fact it's not perfect, WHY on his birthday, turn the focus to the current line up with AL? That's like a throwing a celebration of a dead wife/husband into a celebration of the new wife/husband. ridiculous |
antiden 28.08.2016 13:56 |
^This |
Nitroboy 28.08.2016 17:30 |
Hey let's throw a big posthumous birthday party for John Lennon. By the way, we're showing all of the Japanese TV ads Ringo featured in.... At least it's not another Wembley '86 |
SweetCaroline 28.08.2016 21:55 |
I think it's because they performed Freddie's "I Was Born To Love You" LIVE with the full band for the first time at that show ..... link |
Doga 29.08.2016 08:26 |
It doesn't say anything about a release, the show was filmed by the organization of the festival, and knowing Japan, probably in 4K. So this is different, in the past, when they filmed a show, was to be released, now is the usual procedure. This can easily be QP opening the vaults for the ocassion, i read they filmed shows in Australia and Barcelona. |

I doubt their sound team will have gone to the effort of remixing and fixing just to show it to a few fans. If it was filmed in 4k that's also a selling point for a potential release; any positive feedback they receive from this initial showing will no doubt also be spun into a "fans are clamouring for it to be released" type statement. |
Togg 30.08.2016 04:06 |
Well, I'm perfectly happy about the release, I dont see what all the usual fuss is about, I bet 99% of you went to see them live even if you didnt admit to it. Personally I thought they were great the last time out, way more 'Queen' the with Paul Rodgers, great sound, stunning show and Brian and Roger both on really good form. Brian's guitar rig is sounding better than ever, I hate Rogers drums but that's another story... Anyway I will happily buy it when it comes out they are doing excellent shows right now, ever bit as good as the old days, and I saw Freddie several times, I bet most of you didn't. Those that did like lyself were luck enough to see the greatest showman, but sadly he is no more and it was decades ago.... let it go |
Vocal harmony 30.08.2016 05:31 |
^^^^ this. . . . Some of us were lucky enough to have seen them back in the day. But the shows with Lambert don't feel much different. The Paul Rodgers tours were good but lacked a certain spark and could have worked the same without the Queen name |
Doga 30.08.2016 07:44 |
Togg wrote: Well, I'm perfectly happy about the releaseMe too, if it takes place, that's it. If they want to tour under the name of Queen, Lambert is a fantastic choice. They dismissed the posibilty of touring with a Robbie Williams in his prime because he was a "pop act", and two years later he did the awesome Knebworth concerts. A guy who is a real fan and has demostrated his love for Queen in public. Instead they colaborated with Paul Rodgers, a true rocker who wasn't interested in Queen or Freddie and wasn't able to memorize the songs after two tours. So if the thing with Lambert is going well and they are happy about it, i say go, go, go! |
Killer_queenIII 30.08.2016 07:55 |
Like i said earlier, I'd give it a shot. I've had the two live albums with Paul Rodgers, and they were alright, especially Return Of The Champions, I won't mind a live release with Adam. |
Jake12 30.08.2016 12:07 |
Wonder if they will release a Queen concert along with Fred.. Didn't QPL want to release Knebworth to accompany the Q+AL Sonisphere concert? Felt like I heard about that somewhere.. |
SweetCaroline 30.08.2016 12:34 |
There is an American from San Diego who is currently competing on America's Got Talent who was very impressive with his first audition singing "Somebody To Love" and Marc Martel does a great job in the Queen Extravaganza band and sounds very much like Freddie, but after watching many, many QAL shows since 2011, both live and on youtube, I feel that Adam does the best job with Queen music since Freddie. He has the showmanship and the vocal range for performing in arenas and stadiums. But because his own solo music doesn't sell like the autotuned singers out there, he doesn't get those venues. I'm thrilled that he gets to perform LIVE with Brian and Roger and Spike, Rufus and Neil. They've become a very tight, cohesive group! |

The reason that the overwhelming majority of people are on this forum is because of Queen (as opposed to Queen+).... from decades ago. If people had let it go, they wouldn't even bother to sign in to this forum in the first place. No one would give two shits about Queen if people had let it go, let alone Queen+. |

In a way, the QAL shows ARE like a tribute show because they always give proper tribute to the one and only Freddie. The difference is that you still have two very amazing original members of the band performing at a high level of excellence! |
earwig 31.08.2016 04:04 |
My 2 cents: Freddie Mercury very sadly died. John Deacon retired. Brian & Roger want to keep the band (and songs) going. They find a new singer. Paul Rogers was OK for a time but ultimately didn't fit. Adam Lambert was asked to join and most definitely fits in!! Now we can continue to enjoy Queen live. And they're brilliant - but obviously different! And the reason I started this thread was because I'm excited about a potential forthcoming DVD. Lovely stuff!! :-) P.S. I met Neil Fairclough recently and chatted for some time. Not only is he an amazing bassist but you won't find a nicer man who is also passionate about the music of Queen. |

Was this shown on TV and did a copy ever surface? (Yes, I know I'm being lazy and not checking my collection) If it was, then they can stick it and give us an unseen concert. |

It's long over due and as most of us know they have shows in the can |

"Queen and Adam Lambert Fans Unite To Raise Funds and Awareness For The Mercury Phoenix Trust" "In 2010 The Mercury Phoenix started a project called Freddie For A Day, which is a day held every year on Freddie’s birthday (September 5th) in order to help fight AIDS worldwide. On this day people are encouraged to celebrate the life of Freddie Mercury by bringing people together to dress as Freddie in order to raise awareness and funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. Although there is a day, people are encouraged to hold their own Freddie For A Day on any day of the year. To support the Freddie For A Day project, Adam Lambert posted a video for something he calls the 7070 Campaign in order to help, while adding a bit of humor to the clip in order to lighten up the mood. He wants to know, can you raise 70 pounds, dollars, euros or yen in the lead up to Freddie’s 70th birthday on September 5th?" link |

You wrote "Some of us were lucky enough to have seen them back in the day. But the shows with Lambert don't feel much different." The shows with Queen+ Lambert feel like at tribute show. They're performing songs that are decades old (nothing new or current like Queen were doing when they were performing), and the highlight of the show - or the biggest response from the audience - comes when Freddie's shown on screen, singing along with Love Of My Life or Bohemian Rhapsody. Plus, with Lambert it feels like he's filling in, as opposed to Freddie who was the real deal. That's not knocking what they're doing, but those shows certainly don't feel the same whatsoever. |

Queen + Adam have been performing worldwide for four years without a DVD release, while there have been releases from the Queen + Paul Rodgers era. There are hundreds of people who attended the QAL concerts who would like to have an official release of these spectacular shows rather than a bootleg copy! |

I just hope that there are three new studio songs on this live release!!! Like "Hell Freezes Over" by The Eagles twenty two years ago! But that was only one c.d.! This would definitely have to be...at least two! Surely this would include a live c.d. or c.d.s and not the process certain people done in recent years where only the film is released...RIGHT?! |
Vocal harmony 05.09.2016 08:29 |
Who's said anything about three new songs... We don't even know if this concert is being released |
SweetCaroline 05.09.2016 16:24 |
I've watched every single QAL show since they started performing together, two LIVE in Chicago and Michigan, and the rest on live streams. It's time for a DVD. Here is a segment of four songs -- In The Lap Of The Gods, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Killer Queen and Somebody To Love -- from a show in Toronto in 2014 that I just love: link |
