Yesterday my copy of Sparkle in the Rain by Simple Minds deluxe edition arrived it was housed in a 6inch by 8inch box.Which looked very impressive,it had two glossy booklets inside about the album and how the tracks were put together. It included 4 cds and 1 dvd the original album 1 b sides and rarities,2 live shows and the last disc including television spots and promo videos. It cost me £30 and it makes Queens recent efforts look very poor with the exception of live at the Rainbow. Queen could put something like this out for each of their albums.Instead we got remasters with 5 or 6 bonus tracks, which we already had.Look at Freddies soon to be released cd,awfull. |

I do agree. It's beyond me why Queen Productions isn't able to bring those worthy collectibles to the market. |

quite frankly it's disgusting that all these bands are producing amazing products for little money yet QPL want more money for far less! There's NO WAY that FM 7" singles boxset due in September is worth £110. £50 would be much more reasonable. |
mooghead 06.07.2016 15:46 |
Because Queen fans will buy it for that amount. That is why they cost that much. They don't like it but they will buy it it. How hard is it to understand?? Stop buying the guff they release and they will either make it cheaper or release 'better' stuff. QPL is a business, not a band. |

yeah. it's crappola. I caught wind of it in 2001 when THE CROWN JEWELS was released in the U.S.. Totally a WASTE of money. poorly reproduced mini lp sleeves without completely accurate reproductions. no extras. all lyric content left on one book. no attempt to replicate the labels. twice the price of buying their catalogue on cd with extras. total crap. I've only bought the Rainbow DVD and watched Hungarian Rhapsody in the theater since. also bought LIVE in Ukraine SECOND HAND. but that's about it. Sorry. it's nothing useful. why buy it? UNFORTUNATELY. ... if NOBODY buys it, we the fans will likely get less. (which hasn't been much to begin with. it's BEEN nearly 20 years since talk of the anthology was mainstream. ...) bummer |
dave76 07.07.2016 05:18 |
That's why maybe we (the fans) should compile an ultimate Queen anthology set, share it and present it to Jim, Roger and Brian. There are tracks among us fans which never have been released before. Or even unheard before but they are there. Oh, i nearly forgot, Greatest Hits I and II will be re-released again this autumn. No lie. |

I wasn't online for the era, but wasn't this proposed and nearly finished as a FANTHOLOGY on QZ; then (according to the only info I heard much later) douchebags like david R fuller (s#!+) unconscionably released confidential things to the public as a glory hog via his YouTube channel? At least. ... that's what I gather from my 11th hour analysis. apparently it pissed off a lot of traders and folks who had unique and unheard content |

@dave76... Yeah, sadly, taken from Queenonline's article celebrating GHI&II : ||The record is also set for yet another boost later this year as a new double album gatefold vinyl edition hits shops in Autumn.|| It seems that they have returned to their full power concerning re-releases. Another example is following live release : "Queen: Live in Concert 26,2 miles from Knebworth Park".... guess which Stadium is that far from Knebworth Park and you'll see what I mean... |

Simple Minds is done, they sang their goodbye song a long time ago! might as well bring all they got into the open and then close shop forever. That's not the same case with Queen. |

Simple Minds r actually still touring and releasing new material |

Yes it looks really good but were there any balloons or other reproductions of memorabilia like we can expect with Queen releases ?? Seriously though it's just not worth getting pissed anymore about QPs (lack of) strategy regarding archive releases. Of course Rainbow was good and live releases are good, and we did get a few interesting things in 2011 (albeit spread over the 15 deluxe studio albums!) but I just think we are going to be disappointed for a long time/forever waiting for decent archival releases of Queen studio material. |

It's a bit like saying that Queen were going to release a comprehensive anthology, but changed their mind when the first convention recordings surfaced on a bootleg. |

Let's be clear on this. Fanthology was compiling unheard material with the intent of releasing it all as each section of the project was deemed complete. Fuller couldn't wait that long and wanted all the glory to himself, so he leaked EVERYTHING rare that had been shared amongst Fanthology members at that point, not some scraps as Tero suggests. This not only fucked up some trades with outside parties that were mid-process, it stopped a number of un-shared recordings being shared internally by group members and effectively put an end to fanthology leaving goodness knows what un-shared and which is now still held in private hands. When you have people who have spent a lot of money at auctions buying rare acetates and who then come together in a process of trust to share their "treasures" with each other as that trust and friendship slowly builds, it's a pretty hard blow when someone who had nothing to offer but his ability and willingness to create videos, decides to betray everyone for his own gain (and believe me, he SOLD copies of recordings. Infact, he now forges band signatures and sells "autographed" items on ebay - that's how much of a scumbag David Fuller is). We (and I mean us fans as a whole), are now back where it all was before fanthology began: individuals doing our own thing - individually, instead of many working together to benefit the whole. |
