If you're a guitarist, today is Christmas. Matt has just posted his tutorial for the electric guitars for Long Away and it's stupendous as usual. Even if you're not a guitar player, the breakdowns of each part are a great insight into the songwriting/arranging mind of Brian May during his creative peak.
Just learning how to use the the Internet, I am old ;) Glad you found it, and thanks for the link Bob, people should be watching these tutorials, it's like a master class in how Queen did stuff.
Don't know if it may (sic) be of some interest to some??
I was perusing 'Rogue Herries' by Hugh Walpole.... Sorry, wrong monologue.
I do some YT guitar tutorial type things in spare time and after watching another Queen guitar tutors (yes, does it for a living he does...30 years playing) I felt compelled to do a similar lesson. They were 'Back Chat' and 'Sail Away Sweet Sister'. I just felt they were.....erm....not a decent quality.
Anyway....I decided to record a full cover of SASS which took me 3 days.
Also, I looked back thru some previous 'in progress' covers. I found 'Let Me Live' gospel thing I tried to replicate from a few years back and re-recorded the piano, drums and bass (and some rhythm guitars. The point of this is that it is there for anyone who fancies making their version of it - whether for a karaoke thing. Add lead vocal and guitar and you should have a complete version?
Any comments, critique IS welcomed.
ps: Mixing isn't my thing so they are rough versions.....as are my methods. Very cheap shit gear, into my laptop and using Audition 1.5. link link
Once again, your voice is more like Freddie's than Brian's in a few spots.
Even the tubular bells are there. Great attention to detail.
Very nicely done !
