Hello everybody,
I just want to share with you my thought about something I casually listened to some days ago. I was watching "From Rags To Rhapsody" and saw that beautiful snippet of Death on Two Legs from Earls Court 77 (second stanza). I've always been quite resigned about this eventual release due to mic problems that occured that night but, when I listened to the Rags to Rhapsody snippet "...just an overgrown schoolboy!..." I was really confused as I clearly remember that on Pittrek DVD Freddie's voice cracked while singing "schoolboy", whereas in the 2015 documentary it sound perfect and pristine.
Is this a sign of a future Earls Court release?
Say what you think about it.
This has been discussed before, as well as how the performance of '39 shown in the documentary was a mix between the 1st and second night (Instruments from first night, and vocals from 2nd night)
I'm really hoping we would see Earls Court released, though I doubt we'd see it next year.
EDIT: this is just wishful thinking, but if ever Earls Court would be released, I just wish they'd have the two concerts released in its entirety at least as part of some 4-CD Deluxe Edition package, much like how the Deluxe Edition of Rainbow has both the March and November gigs. The videos? I hope they'd throw in the entire second night, a la 25th anniversary. edition of Live At Wembley Stadium.
^ incorrect comparison with Rainbow '74 release.
They have both November shows but released only a mixture of both. The same thing will be with both Earl's Court '77 shows, if it will ever happen at all of course...
I was referring to how one disc has the March show and the 2nd disc having a mix of the November shows. I guess i forgot to mention that the November disc was a mix of the two nights, sorry about that.
Let's just hope they don't edit out Deacons backing vocals and possibly do a special "Brian and Roger" commentary to mark a very important event for John and absolutely blow the myths about John Deacons singing and about all the vocal guides they have in the vaults for each and everyone of the songs that he did... including the infamous bites the dust..."Brian's infamous comment about Johns singing" but that will never happen.. but seriously I hope that they will keep this very important part of Queens history intact....!!
On that note... who was waiting in anticipation for the official release of The Rainbow and The Hammersmith, just so they could listen to the commentaries that graced previous concerts..? Would have loved a song by song account from those days of playing some very heavy rocking songs!!!
The "three originals" wembly Montreal and Milton all had commentary by Brian and Roger. Wembly was very basis and touched on the highlights of the show lap of the gods couple of the magic songs and those haunting comments Freddie said. That was on discount two I believe. Montreal was the first one where it was the option to play the whole concert with it on with comments such as Roger asking Brian what Freddy said to him during the break in love of my life when the crowd wasn't singing or singing loudly and where Brian was appreciating that famous shot of Brian on piano just before singing those first lines of Save me lm those comments are the ones that really stuck out and Milton.... the one important line that stood out the most the one line which made me long for the Rainbow to be released!!!! During crazy little thing. Brian must have been referring to some comment or some review from the past about Freddie's lack of skill on the guitar and Brian said.. "If you can play Ogre Battle on acoustic guitar.. at the same speed if not faster, then be my guest...!!" Also said it was , along the lines anyway about the challenge it was of rhythm guitar/support for Freddie while he was on guitar and how good he was on during those live performances and the rhythm he had whilst singing...
Just wish that Brian could be really saying those comments whilst Ogre Battle was playing in the background to Live at The Rainbow along with other key moments such as Johns bass solo and those lines he "sung" to liar and his memories along with Rogers during those days of "virtually playing heavy metal "
Shit that was very poor. Pains of writing on cellphone.
Basically
Wembly
Basic run down of the show front disc two of the original DVD release. Talking about the shows major points particularly the memories brought on by singing lap of the gods and having the whole crowd know the song and singing word for word and being almost ten years since they last played it. Also mentioning the magic songs and those haunting comments Freddie maid.
Both live at the bowl and queen rocks had the full length commentary.
Live at the bowl for me was significant for that one comment about Freddie's guitar skill and writing ogre battle on acoustic and at the break neck speed it was on the album also some thoughts of the hot space album and how well those songs came out live. Also just before the show started Brian joked saying they couldn't afford lighting so the crowd helped out with the lighters and at the end Roger asked what John would have thought of the show. Brian replied with a John Deacon only "not bad" then when asked about Freddie's comment of the show Brian said "... let's fuck of and have a vodka or something like that.
Queen Rocks
Brian mentioning the crowd being not the most vocal after just coming from South America and Roger asking what Freddie said to Brian during Love of my life..? And brian admiring that shot of Freddie starting those first lines of Save me and the moment the two shared just before while Brian was on the piano

your cellphone didn't invent a track in a setlist, did it?
Ogre Battle was NOT played at the Bowl...well not in the real world anyway
No what I was meant was.
During Crazy Little Thing. Brian was commenting on Freddie's skill on guitar and he mentioned along the lines that, Freddie was actually quite accomplished on guitar more than anyone outside the band would have known.. and if anyone could play Ogre Battle on a acoustic guitar and the same speed then be my guest... I'm sure it was off the Milton dvd but could have been Montréal.

Well I remember from the Rock Montreal commentary, Brian mentioned Freddie demoing Ogre Battle on guitar.
