Surely it has to be Hyde Park this year, anything else is going to be a major disappointment for me (especially after the You're My Best Friend snippet from the recent From Rags To Rhapsody documentary looked and sounded great). If for some reason the concert is deemed not good enough for a full official release it would be an excellent PR gesture on their part to share what they have via queenonline as a "thank you" to everybody for sticking with them over the last 40 years - seeing as the show was free in 1976 to thank the fans it would have a nice sense of symmetry! (I know I'm pushing my luck on this one, I would be more than happy to buy it)!
Hello Que 123,
It's not that we deem Hyde Park as not good enough. That's not been ascertained yet. It needs to be fully investigated, and it is being. That takes time and we can only do six things at once, and we are!!
Yes, we could have done Hyde Park for 2016, the 40th anniversary, and we did indeed do exactly that with Rainbow 74 in 2014 and Hammy Odeon 75 in 2015…. but surely that cannot be the main driving criteria for putting out a project. That also, in the minds of many, commits you to slavishly doing NOTW in 2017, Jazz in 2018, Live Killer 2019, The Game 2020, etc etc etc, without really thinking about it, and that's not something anyone wants to do. There has to other better reasons to break the predictable expected patterns sometimes. The band thinks so, and those that work for them think so too. Queen have never ever followed predictable trends, so why start now.
So…. Queen On Air has come up this year, plus some Freddie surprises. Not predictable, unexpected, fresh and
imaginative. That has to be welcome too, doesn't it?

And how about Knebworth Park?? There has never been a proper release of that concert. That indeed would be a "never before seen" project, and could include as a bonus all the magic tour fooatge. Leiden, Paris, Manheim, Newcastle and Slane Castle(if there's somthing besides the 1 minute news broadcast). Also it could include some new interviews with Roger and Brian. And why not a Screening of the concert too?
Queen's final Magic or something like that.
What do you think Mr. GB??? any chance of that happening this year?? or better put, will we have a Queen live release this year?
Wembley 30th Anniversary is out the question here!! haha!
Thanks in advance!!
Thank you Greg. In the midst of too much vitriol you offer some sunshine. May I suggest a big push for Houston 1977; the band were red hot that night. Cheers!
Greg thanks for clearing up the Hyde Park situation, those comments make perfect sense. As i mentioned in a previous post,Hyde Park has to be right otherwise there will be more moaning. It makes perfect sesne for the BBC sessions and maybe other BBC material being officially released and this does excite me.Freddie surprises excites me even more hopefully I/we Queen fans will not be dissapointed.I think one fact that some people overlook is that Queen recorded in a totally different way to anyone else. They even said that often songs were made up of 2 different songs.Hopefully these treasures will turn up one day in a comprehensive box set.We should all wait and see,and have faith with the powers that give the go ahead for such projects.Keep up the good work

Greg, I think the Queen releases over the past two or three years have been excellent, definitely on the right track. Your not so subtle announcements are very exciting indeed. Even if Hyde Park was finally released, not everyone will be satisfied.
I do however have a couple of gripes, - when I watched my blu-ray The Kids Are Alright from The Who, I loved it! I especially loved how they painstakingly restored the very terrible video source and made it HD, why do we Queen fans have to settle for SD-blurays? These concerts should be preserved lovingly. Also, let's include Ultraviolet codes for digital streaming, Queen would be the first band doing so.
