link Very interesting to read, Sorry if it has been posted before (probably has). Found a picture of Freddie and Elton John together on piano with full stage outfits, when and what was that about? |

I wonder if there exists a recording of that show (pro / audience) |

Interesting that he says Fred told him he had Aids in 87, I wonder if he actually had told the band at that point? |

As far as I remember Freestone and Hutton tell in their books that he told the band around mid-1989 or mid-1990 judging by the timeline of each book. I don't remember who said which year. My guess is that it was after the recordings of The Miracle but before they started recording Innuendo. |

Talking about the Band, he first contacted Jim Beach because of that matter. Brian May confirmed in a MOJO Interview that the Band learned around 87/88 in Montreux that Freddie had AIDS. His "unclear" HIV status, before that KS-Biopsy in early 87', is a different thing. |

Well, Freddie obviously told QUEEN before "The Miracle" because most things about that project are about Fed preparing and hinting that his end was near...no secret there. Of course I none of this was realized by the public until "Made In Heaven" came out in 1995 |
Martin Packer 09.04.2016 05:17 |
Bri, Rog and John would've noticed Freddie's deterioration during or before the Miracle recording sessions. How the conversation went from there, goodness only knows. But I'd think it certain they knew for definite 1988/89. If not 1987. |

Perhaps Elton ought to be concentrating on how to continue to maintain the silence of the British press given his shenanigans in the bedroom....... |

The rest of the band were told in either 1990 or early 1991 I believe, Brian mentions what Fred told them pretty directly and his intention to " work till I ****** well drop" But I believe they suspected he was ill back in 88/ 89 when his appearance began to change drastically |
Moët Et Chandin 25.11.2017 18:59 |
Elton mentions in his book " Love is the Cure" that Freddie confided in him soon after his diagnosis maybe mid 87, and he was also a loyal friend of Fred's who was trusted not to talk. Of course Mary knew before Elton, Jim, Pheobe or the band and probably in that order |
Makka 28.11.2017 04:38 |
I read this a few years back. What a wonderful story. |
Moët Et Chandin 14.03.2018 20:02 |
Freddie obviously felt that Elton, who was also gay and had also been at risk during the same period would be a sympathetic shoulder. Of course Elton eventually tested negative and had escaped the fate of many gay celebrities who had indulged in risky behaviour during that period. But he did worry during that era. |

I think the band didn't know until mid-1989, because of the comments (interviews). At first they all said they're eager to go on tour, but Freddie didn't want to (at the time The Miracle was relased April/May 1989). Then they went protective and changed words (mid-1989). |

Then they went protective and changed words (mid-1989).From listening to that May 1989 interview with Mike Read, it is impossible to tell if the rest of the band know at that point. They could be protecting him, in the dark, or somewhere half way where they kind of have an idea. What happens in the band stays in the band. We will never know. |
Martin Packer 19.03.2018 08:46 |
Of course they knew / strongly suspected. What is tacit becoming explicit isn't important to "Queen For An Hour". |
