Fabulous - thank you.
It's always rare to see Freddie speaking at such length, relaxed and uninterrupted, and during his monologuing here is the first time I've really picked up twinges of an Indian accent (particularly on words like 'which', 'when' etc)
"If I certainly left, (I think) they have these sort of mechanism in them, they'll just replace me... y'know..."
"Not easy to replace me, huh?"
In his own words...

Isn't this on the FM box set?
Nope. I think some of it has been released as BR extra, I can't remember if it was Days of our lives or The great pretender doc. There's a 30 minute version in Youtube that has been edited together from various sources. I'd love to see the whole thing one day in HD.

And there you go, finally it's out in the open that he would be fine with them moving on after he's gone.
ha, brilliant
You can see, from the beginning of this video, why it's been reported that Freddie was a shy guy in real life. He keeps de-ashing his ciggy, and it shows that he's slightly feeling awkward. That's just until he gets really into it, then his lively self emerges.
It's very clear though, I think, from this extended version, that he uses the smoking as a prop. It keeps his hands occupied and prevents him from not knowing what to do when he is feeling awkward.
And I say this as a complete lay person when it comes to psychology. But I kind of see myself in some of his moves. I am very shy, and I tend to use anything which is in my hands at the time to fill up time while speaking to someone - e.g. playing around with a ciggy.
Anyway, what a great guy.

It's a great interview. I think because he knew Wigg he's being more honest and open than he might have been with someone he didn't know.
Sweet !
Thanks for posting this ... I agree with the poster who said it accents Fredddies shyness ... How charming is he ? Adorable !
Great interview ..
Waiting for the rest !

Why would you want to see an interview in HD? It wasn't even filmed in HD?!!?
Why wouldn't I want to see it in HD? If it wasn't filmed on film then so be it. The clips in The Great Pretender documentary looked really good though,
"If I certainly left, (I think) they have these sort of mechanism in them, they'll just replace me... y'know..."
"Not easy to replace me, huh?"
It can also be interpreted differently. It could mean that the group wouldn't try to stop him ; ask him to reconsider his leave, they would find another guy, not disband and that is what happened. He foresaw that, wow ! (wink, wink).

Because of upscaling allowing for stuff to look better.
A lot of the SD video content looks fucking great on the recent HD Blu-ray offerings from documentaries etc. when it comes to picture quality.
