We've had posts similar to this before, but I'd like to know if anyone has any idea which Korg presets were used on various songs in The Miracle, specifically:
I Want It All - The keyboard sound in the chorus
Breakthru - The woodwind that starts after the chorus/before a verse
Was It All Worth It - The twinkling bells in the quiet intro
Invisible Man - The "rising" sound heard during each "see right through you"
Scandal - The main synth that contributes to the beat of the song
Apologies if any of these aren't from the Korg M1, but they all sound a lot like it in some way, and I'd like to know if anyone who knows more than me can match the sounds to a preset or find something close.
I've already noticed so far that the organs on Breakthru are an exact match for a Korg preset (no EQ or editing needed it seems), so I think they all are in there somewhere.
I'am not a specialist for these things, but I still have a copy of "Logic Platinum" on an older PC in my basement.
I can try to emulate something similar, but it will take some time and a few suggestions by more suitable people.
The Pizzicato sound during "The Miracle" Comes from the Roland D-50
The drums from "Rain Must Fall" And "My Baby Does Me" Are sequenced M1 drums.
Innuendo is full of M1.
Slightly Mad has the "ooh aah" Preset for the intro and chorus.
Show Must Go On has string coming out of the M1.
Bijou is an M1 as well i believe.
Days Of Our Lives percussion comes out of the M1.
All Gods People is the M1 (All the orchestral sounds)
Innuendo itself has the M1 for the pads/strings.
Delilah And Don't Try So hard as well :) (Delilah also has the drums coming out of the M1)
Barcelona has all the orchestral sounds of the M1 on it.
It's a greatly used synth because well, it's mostly a rompler, but it has a unique sound to it.
Never understood why they couldn't be bothered to record real percussion for TATDOOL. Innuendo is a good album, but the laziness from their earlier 80's albums is still very much present.

Agreed, it's from 1988 so by technological standards it's pretty old, but I haven't heard a better keyboard myself. I love the sound it makes and hope at least one of the things I posted has a match on the M1.
Yeah, I've seen that before and played a fair few. Most of them are spot on but it's mildly irritating how nobody has managed to match The Show Must Go On yet. It even sounds different live coming from Queen themselves, I have a feeling they did some weird mixing with it that can't be just done on the keyboard.
That's why I have never been able to really get into Innuendo. They really should have gone back to their 70's approach. Instead it is a mashup of 80's synth and drums, with a few epic songs, plus the filler that is present on their 80's albums.

If someone is interested. the Korg M1 is available as an virtual Instrument. A free use of 30 days is included. So a nice opportunity for fans to fiddle around with it.
It works as an standalone quite good. No further software is needed. Well a sound driver for your Computer goes without saying I think.
As for my results so far I can "confirm" the "Was it all worth it" Intro sound or something that is really close to it ( of course I didn't do any post processing).

Which sound is it? The closest I've been able to get is Bellsynth 2.
I literally just bought the 'Korg M10D' 3Ds software last night and the very first tone I used was the exact key tone in 'Slightly Mad.' If you have a Nintendo 3Ds and are a fan of sequencing digital music, you might want to look into it. It's on sale in the US for $17.99 through the 7th.

Yes it was one of those "bell" sounds, unfortunately I'am still dealing with newbie problems with that program. Actually I am a former bass player...not so much skills with VST's so I forgot to save the subject and was rushing to the next sound.
But I will fiddle around with that again, when I got some spare time on my hands.

Cheers, just let me know when you get the chance, I have a feeling it might just be Bellsynth 2 at a high octave though.

Yeah, Ooh/Ah on the M1 is spot on, I don't think they did any mixing or post at all to make it sound like it did on Slightly Mad.
