No idea but think about it.. 'What do we associate Freddie with? Driving cars!!!' (Never learned to drive and wrote a song called Bicycle Race). In other words, just another nonsense press photo....
Yeah he was very much not a car guy. Definitely the type to be driven, rather than drive himself (not that he even had a license, as you said).
Freddie strikes me as the type of guy who generally knew fuck-all and didn't give a toss about things like cars, electronics, DIY, etc. - the only exception being things related to making music. Much more the art gallery and opera type than the track day guy.
That's not Freddie's car it's a (car)prop used in a German popmusic program called 'Formel Eins'. And indeed, David Wigg interviewed Freddie there during his Mr. Bad Guy / Munich period.
This is the TV-leader/intro from Formel EIns.

Admit it Mooghead, that's your car.
Besides, Fred had a Delorean.
John drove a Batmobile.
Roger had a Sinclair C5.
And Brian drove a pimpmobile.
To be honest I wish that was my car. Its beautiful. John drives a Picasso, Roger drives an Aston and Brian rides a motorbike powered by badger dung with zero emissions...
I think those "bullet-nose" Studebakers are fugly, myself......gimme a 1953 Commander Starliner if you're talking Studebakers, now there's a classic design!
