I've read here on Queenzone before that Brian and Paul weren't getting along well by the time the QPR collaboration was terminated.
Throughout this recent tour with Adam Lambert in South America, Brian often mentions the decades since the last time Queen played here. I understand when he talks about 30 years since his last time at Rock in Rio, but not when he talks about 30 times since his last time in Rio itself - he was there in 2008 with Paul Rodgers. About Argentina he also talked about being there over 30 years ago. In interviews, whenever a journalist mentioned 1981 and 1985 as their only times here, he never bothered to correct them, and now he just posted this on Facebook:
Q+AL NEXT - LAST - SHOW OF TOUR (SADLY)
Santiago, Chile.
Brian has played here before.... !!!! "This is a place that Queen would liked to have come to but we never managed it... Bri"
Queen - as in Freddie, Brian, Roger and John - in fact never did play there. But if Queen - as in Brian and Roger - with Adam Lambert counts as Queen, then I assume Queen - as in the very same Brian and Roger - with Paul Rodgers counts too. And well, the concert in Chile with Paul Rodgers was no small deal, as far as I know it was in a stadium and it was broadcasted by TV, and the TV broadcast was shared here on Queenzone and is still available on YouTube.
Except for the "ON THIS DAY In Queen History" feature on his site and Facebook, Brian seems to be completely ignoring QPR, almost as if he's trying to forget it happened, or hoping people forget it did.
Has anyone got anything on that?
Brian constantly has items relating to QPR on his 'On this day in Queen history thing', so I would say it's safe to assume from this that, when he references 'Queen' in these interviews about having played places, he simply means the classic line-up.
People forget things all the time. Sometimes the brain modifies or deletes memories... Also "something you find very important can be insignificant to someone else" link
Yeah but forgetting one of the many songs they played live is one thing, forgetting he toured Freddie's alleged favourite singer is another. Or maybe that's it: Brian's jealous because Paul was also Freddie's favourite guitarist, bassist, pianist, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer and hair role model.
Brian did sort of acknowledge Q+PR a few concerts ago....before they played Las Palabras De Amor at the QAL concert in Buenos Aires, he said something like 'I get to sing this song once every seven years'
Brian is often pretending it never happened.
There were some horrible instances in 2009/10 after Paul Rodgers, but before karaoke man, where Brian didn't mention Paul in any interviews, even on questions where it would have been obvious to do so. I'm not gonna bother to dig them up, but there were some embarrasing examples regarding songs never played live, songs done well by other than freddie....all less than a year since he was on the road with paul, and less than two (?) years since he used every interview to brag about Paul's approach to Queen songs, and how The Show must go on had taken on a new life with Paul as the singer.
the whole thing was kind og childish
