Ok so it looks like Hammersmith is getting its release Novemeber 13th. It will be shown at the convention also. But the mystery still lies will Hammersmith 79 be contained in a double Box set, Amazon has it up now without any information in different formats. One being a 4 Disc Box Set!!!!!!! Great stuff.. Queen A night at the Odeon, great title...lets hope that we get Hammersmith 75 and Hammersmith 79 Movie shows and Audio shows, making up 4 Discs. And hoepfully not just a remastered version of A night at the Opera album and the bonus cd...We can only wait!! |
kosimodo 12.09.2015 03:44 |
With a title having 75 in it... I dont give it much change containing the show of 79. |
cmsdrums 12.09.2015 04:17 |
And also 'A Night' (singular) |
Hangman_96 12.09.2015 06:05 |
Why would they include the 1979 show? Just think about it. They would have had to hint at it somehow, but they didn't. |

I think they'll leave Hammersmith 79 til a later date. However I've read that Jim Beach has mentioned at Freddie's birthday party that Japan 75 'snippets' may well be included as well as a couple of other gems he wasn't prepared to disclose at that point. If that the Budakon show on May 1st 75 was recorded,is Hangman a possibility? I'd be this release just for that!! |

Disc One: Bluray of Concert.....Disc Two: DVD of Concert......... Disc Three: Cd One of Concert........ Disc Four: Cd Two/bonus of Concerts |

Although the full content is speculation at this point. My comment: "cool." "15 years late but still cool." .... now as for that anthology. .... ;) ;) |

It's still an Amazon source...right ? Waiting for the official press release to come :) |

Rainbow was great and set a high standard. Queen productions ought not to fall back to their previous shoddy standards. |
jondickens1 13.09.2015 03:31 |
What I read about what Miami saying was translated by Google from an Italian review. So the word snippets might not be entirely acqurate, lol. |
pittrek 13.09.2015 05:02 |
Snippets of Japan are the only thing they have, so what else should they release? |
DepeX 13.09.2015 05:48 |
We actually don't know how much Japanese footage they have, but I'm afraid this is the only bonus on the next release. |
thomasquinn 32989 13.09.2015 08:18 |
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, because of how great the Rainbow '74 release was. But I'm not exactly jumping for joy about Hammersmith '75. |
Bo Alex 13.09.2015 18:08 |
I'm not particularly happy about this release. But think a little about the logic of the last releases: Last year 2014, they released material from 1974, now in 2015 we get stuff from 1975. So we can hope great things in the years to come (2016 Hyde Park, 2017 Earl's Court and Houston!!!, 2019 ;) ) |

Anyway, i think is odd we don't have the press release yet. Maybe the dates we given are a mistake and it is not going to be released in November. Considering the main thing is the Hammersmith show that took place in Christmas Eve, maybe they are waiting till Christmas to release it. Xmas is good for business, isn't it? |

This is a great release! The only problem is that in our quest to get everything about Queen, we already own pretty much every major concert of this band in different quality. It's only normal that our excitement isn't over the roof for this one, because we already own this concert in excellent quality. Of course i'm ready to be surprised with the picture and superb sound, but it is what it is. This is a wonderful product for any Queen or music fan, even if it doesn't contain any extras. It's not their fault that we are collectors! They are finally doing a great job in releasing what the fans really want. I hope they continue with this line of thinking for future releases. |

The conclusion of these Hammy treads are that we love to see the concert in a final version appear on DVD/bluray, BUT with some exiting extra's. No extra's, not worth the release. ( we shared several versions here on the zone and also in the tradingcommunity) QP set a standard with the Rainbow package (boxset) after some dreadful releases the years before. Thinking of Montreal with that Paint pro cover and content (Live Aid) that was already released.on a different DVD. The Montreal DVD was incomplete, but it was nice to see and hear IMAX quality and a new audio mix,. The rest ... well not my cup of tea. The problem is I personally felt some of QP recycling activities purely as a rip off (with Wembley topping everything), as did others feel here on Queenzone and Queenonline, Don't f*** with Queenfans, and never underestimate them. I'm looking forward to this Hammy 75 release with Rainbow boxset in mind. |
thomasquinn 32989 16.09.2015 04:04 |
Why do you people insist on calling it a "great release" when it is so obviously a flawed concert? Half of the band is noticably ill, the set is short and they're visibly nervous. The only thing that could make this a "great release" is a set of stunning extras. If it is going to have to ride on Hammersmith '75 alone, it's going to be dull as dirt, ESPECIALLY to the 'casual' listener - who is not going to care about the back story and is just going to see a band that can't wait to get the show over with. |
cmi 16.09.2015 04:42 |
^ Because it's 1975 classic concert fully restored. Hyde Park '76 is also not flawless concert, so what? If you don't like Odeon '75 shut up and stand in the queue for 76...77...78...79... concert. Thank God QPL started to release 70s stuff... It seems everyone already forgot moans from last 15 years about lack of officially released 70's concerts. |
Doga 16.09.2015 08:28 |
Because Budokan mystery aside, this Hammersmith show is the only video they have of 1975, so is this or nothing till the next year with Hyde Park (If they are going to continue with this plan, that's it) |
Nitroboy 16.09.2015 08:48 |

To all those who both think and say that this is pretty pointless release because we've all had pretty damn good copies of it for decades, let's look at it with a glass half FULL instead. Yes. I too am disappointed and it does 'feel' like a wasted release to a degree, BUT we are getting the best upgrade we are ever going to get, both in terms of picture and audio quality and hopefully the extras won't disappoint. However, once this "obvious" release is out of the way, the next release should be much more interesting AND we are one step/one year closer to those 1977-'79 concert packages that every Queen fan has been clamouring for since Queen released their first live concert video back in 1984.... By December, QPL will have released a staggering THREE box sets this year. That's a heck of a precedent which I hope they continue into 2016 and beyond. Sooner or later, ALL of those three (or even if it only becomes 2) yearly releases will become things of major interest to fans as they will undoubtedly touch upon the BBC Sessions, Extended (and other) remixes sets, live AUDIO releases for concerts where no video footage exists and, maybe, these live video releases will double each year when the band find they have more than one concert for each of their "working years" to present (ie, Houston AND Earls Court for '77 for example). |
The Real Wizard 16.09.2015 09:32 |
^ what he said. I'd say Queen have done quite well with releasing archival stuff. Not as good as some acts, but far better than others. Bring on the 75 show. It's been bootlegged for decades, so it should be in the shops. Hold your judgements until you see what the bonus tracks are. |

Must say that I'm so happy that they're now finally releasing all those great old concerts. And the potential with Queen is just huge. There are - certainly compared to bands from the same era - many filmed and audio recorded concerts. I really feel that they can make a live catalogue that is better than any live catalogue of any other band. If this Hammy live box is of the same level as Rainbow and they do the same for 1977 (earls court/Houston and maybe some audio surprise (please LA last night of 77!)), 1979 (live Killers/crazy box), South America 1981 (with documentary about the historic nature of this tour), Rock In Rio '85 (f*ck anyone who disagrees, that first show is in many ways FM at his best), knebworth '86 (the last one...) Imagine then the possibility of them having some surprising things (maybe the 1977 fan club concert? A US 1980 concert?) Wow :-) |
