Saw this on eBay the other day. Date is said to be from June 13th 1978! No other info is given. Could this be a unreleased bbc session from the Jazz album?
hard to guess really from the info contained
it's been sold several times recently
around that time queen toured UK and USA - but there were no BBC broadcasts to my knowledge until christmas 1979 for kampuchea
so perhaps the options narrow a little:
1] a quad re-broadcast of the 1973 BBC in concert?
2] a re-broadcast of hammy 75?
3] various interview/compilation broadcasts - there were at leats a couple of these in the Uk
There was no BBC session recorded in 1978, the last one was promoting News Of The World in 1977. Can you link to it or at least write the seller's name ?
It can be
a) a home made fake
b) a misslabeled NOTW session
c) an edited broadcast of Hammersmith 75
d) one of the interviews (e.g. the Christmas 77 interview)
e) anything else :-)
I just messaged the seller and waiting for his response. Only info is this
"2-7 1/4 " square vintage original syndicated radio show air date 6-13-78 bbc special.one box damaged,no scripts."
there were also two USA radio broadcasts from 1976
one was about 1hr in length but it was mainly full of 2-minute edits of songs interspersed with about 15-20 mins of actual interviews.
think it was from january 1976
i also recall a "queen special" from the BBC - 1977?
don't know if this was either of these - my guess would be the second - the interviewer has a very "plummy home counties BB World Service" type accent
I saw thanks for that! I got a response from the seller and he said he has no idea what is on it. Someone did tell me it was the BBC Session from NOTW. I did buy the reel tape so I will let you guys know what's on it!
these radio broadcasts usually only ever had 1½-2 mins of each song (these were usually nothing new) - hence 26 songs crammed into an hour and about 15 mins of interviews

Did u find out what's on the reels?
I will try next week, just waiting on borrowing a reel to reel player from a relative! From doing more research I believe it's a promo from the 1977 Tom Browne interview.. But we just have to wait and see
