Ignoring the part how they're pretty awful, cold and at times ridiculously poorly written, the horrible characters, the sportscaster character, The awful digital Jabba, the appalling bad puppet Yoda, the inconsistencies of "force powers", Anakin 's easy decent to "the dark side", Obi Wan going to a 50's style DINER, the wop and jewish stereotyped characters, the lack of mortality avoided by using inept droids, a fucking machine guy that has a COUGH, the lame tribute to Christopher Lee making his name sound like "poo-poo" just to drop a DRACUL reference, inconsistencies in age traits, The ineptitude of Jedis to conveniently die and be powerless to cheap droid attacks. .. in spite of a plot gap that requires Anakin to not be able to get with Padme (*even though it would be beneficial to have a protector and the city is practically around the Jedi temple), and the absurd notion that Anakin's children would be "hidden" in plain sight among prominent members of the republic, in spite of padme giving up on life simply because Anakin is messed up, not caring enough to raise her kids.
... yes in spite of all the garbage that the series was. ...
*(WHY IS IT CALLED ATTACK OF THE CLONES WHEN THE CLONES ONLY GET 12 MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME AT THE END -----***DEFENDING**** THE REPUBLIC? )
... anyways. .. in spite of this..... which is your favorite/least hated part in the prequel trilogy?
I almost LIKE AOTC.... It's competent and attempts to hatch an assassination plot, wraps up Palpatine's planning and cunning, barely features the unmemorable crappy Jedi conference people, barely features the poorest acting of Sam Jackson's career, has Padme looking pretty f-n hot, deals with Anakin's pains (*though avoids the notion that someone could have BOUGHT Skywalker's mother FFS! they had at least TEN YEARS. ....) deals with his first massacre, (featuring a conveniently timed death of his mother)
What I'm saying is. ... It's not entirely bad. But the condensed nature of the story is boiled down so much you could've missed some plot elements (spoken only once or twice) regarding the deceptions if you attended the film in public (*until it was released on dvd I didn't know Jar Jar was the guy responsible for giving Palpatine executive "presidential powers", effectively killing the Republic while representing Padme.
If you heard the later interviews, Jar Jar was supposed to be derided a bit. (Audible laughter) but it was removed after screening.
Either way. . It's the best of the bunch. Probably Lucas' commentary on presidential powers and executive orders *(though it's mainly attributed to the fall of the Roman Empire. .. and similar to Assimov's FOUNDATION series)
There's even a guy named NEWT GUNRAY
NEWT GINGRICH....REAGAN - RAY GUN...... little switches.
I expected a lot out of the final "Revenge of the Sith" (WE NEVER REALLY DO find out what their gripe is with each other do we?)
But it was pretty bad. Especially the "high ground" inconsistencies and the RIDICULOUS lava battle. .. talk about corruption. Who would even begin to fight there?
Another excessive cgi masturbation.... like the factory scene in AOTC.
Anyways. . I feel better now ranting.
WHICH WAS YOUR FAVORITE of the three?
Funny, after a horrible day I'm watching Mr. Plinkett reviews of the prequels, and I go to Queenzone where I find a thread about the prequels and recommending Mr. Plinkett reviews ...
To the topic -
Episode 1 - I don't like anything about this movie. OK, the score is pretty good.
Episode 2 - I really like the action scenes, mainly the arena sequence and the beginning of the Clone War.
Episode 3 - I think the opening is really funny, but I have a bad feeling that it wasn't supposed to be funny.
I think Natalie Portman is hot - of course only in episodes 2 and 3, AFTER she got 18. And I think that Ewan whatshisname is a pretty good OB1 Kenobi.
I basically hate everything else. The casting, the acting, the costumes, the design, the story, the dialogue, the writing, directing, editing, the special effects....
I was a HUGE Star Wars fan before Episode 1, and after I've seen it I tried to persuade myself I liked at least SOMETHING about it, because it was a Star Wars movie so it HAD to be great and the problem had to be in my head, but after seeing Episode 2 I gave up

I'd say Episode 3 would be my favorite....also, the novelization IMPROVES on it, I'd seriously recommend that to any Star Wars fan....
Well aren't the novelizations irrelevant for judging the movies?
I mean the novelization of Star Trek 5 is fantastic, but that doesn't make the movie less stupid.
To be honest my favourite thing from the prequel era are the Clone Wars cartoons - both of them are MUCH better than the movies themselves.

Yeah, I wasnt attempting to say that it made the movie any better or worse, it was just a little something I thought I'd add...
I havent really seen the Clone Wars cartoons but I've caught some of that Star Wars Rebels series, thought that was pretty good.
Thanks for sharing those Mr Plinkett reviews.
I never heard of those. I hadn't been very fond of the films but don't go around looking through hundreds of critical response YouTube videos.
however. . THOSE were pretty thorough AND funny.
Only gripe was him referring to "Jango" Fett as Boba Fett... whatever. He's named after Boba. They should have left in the scenes at planet KANINE or whatever the cloning planet was called with the "food court" stations and Java and Boba houses.
It would have AT LEAST explained the name origin.
Usually YouTube rants aren't worth watching but those were pretty hilarious. I don't feel like I've wasted my time even though it took about 3 hours of my life.
Watched all but the last 30 minutes of ROTS

The 2003 cartoon is great. It has one A story and a huge amount of B stories, the B stories are basically scenes of various Jedi fighting in cool environments, they can get very boring really soon. The "A" story is great, it's a very personal story of Anakin and Obiwan, and the last cca 30 minutes are a great, GREAT prequel to Episode 3, the whole story of attack on Coruscant and kidnapping of Palpatine is just amazing. And it ends literally a few seconds before Episode 3 starts :)
The 2008 show is a CG show and I think it's much worse, but still a huge amount of episodes is really great. Some of the episodes are really childish, but some of them are actually amazing WW2 dramas moved into space.
I hated the first episodes of Rebels, they were too childish and too "Disneyfied" for my liking, but the last episodes are really great and I'm looking forward to the second season
