by the way, when I think of Brian, most of the time it is the period between 1986 and 1992, with his look on Days of Our Lives' video being my favorite. it is the Headlong video with John, and early 80s with Roger.
Looks?
Freddie: innuendo beard
John: GaGa/jazz era
Roger: jazz era
Brian: crazy Tour/90's
Fred Mandel: back of his head
Spike Edney: white jumpsuit look
I think it's a conscious effort at ignoring his gay clone moustache look. To think of it. .. one of the most unique artists blending in with the mix is kind of odd.
That and it's association with his excesses. It's sad he had to go.
I think when most non-Queen fans picture Freddie, they mostly think of him in his yellow jacket during the Magic Tour, or in his leotard during the Bo Rhap era. Personally, I think of him wearing a sleeveless top and with his moustache in the Hot Space era, at the height of his partying.
the look of freddie when someone thinks about him depends on the age of those who imagine him and/or, less for me, the prefered period of Queen era.
I think it's like an impriting; I began to follow Queen in the Flash era, so Freddie was moustached and had a "macho" style, but the best look, always for me, is the magic years era, between kind of magic and magic tour. Also the Miracle era has it's appeal (beard, suit and tie).
My wife, for example, has began to know Queen after, in 1984, so her first image of Freddie when thinks about him is in the Works style.
....wow, very hard for me explain this in English...!
The mustached Freddie of the beginning of the 80s was the one who led Freddie to his early demise. I prefer the calm Freddie of the The Miracle/Innuendo period.
It depends on the context, but often it's the Barcelona look.
Can't go wrong with Freddie's looks there, plus he's always smiling in the photos with Montserrat
74/75- early eighties and live aid and the Magic tour look. I do like the 89 Miracle look as well, but the freddie that had the most influence was the 74 SHA tour Bo Rhap/ Queen 2 look. And of course the early to mid 80's. He always changed his look, which I like. Brian always looked the same. Sort of boring in my opinion.
Still remember the band supporting Mott The Hoople at the Glasgow Apollo. Never missed a tour after that. Memories of a thirteen year old me still linger.

I have only discovered Queen with the Budapest concert, as it was televised behind the iron curtain. When I think of Freddie and all of Queen, I think of the 1986 era. I must admit, I am a fan of adidas shoes thanks to the magic tour.
