Loved him in the hammer films and the wicker man. Not so much as Count Dookoo... but then again ... The movie was a piece of expensive soulless shit.
Thanks for the info. Hadn't read it anywhere else.
I knew about Orson Welles and Manowar but I never knew Christopher Lee recorded an album well received by the METAL community. .... really?
I've gotta get this thing
I've seen sir Chistopher Lee once, in a concert of Star Wars sountrack (or of The Lord of the Rings sountrack, I can't remember, went to both). The Star Wars concert was narrated by Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) (who was quite a fine gentlement without the yellow metal suit), so maybe sir Lee was in The Lord of the Rings concert.
I remember how I was impressed by sir Lee's voice and charisma on stage, it was even more impressive than in movies. At that moment his health was already not good, he had to sit on a wheelchair, and that was long before The Hobbit started filming. How he found the strength and the will to film The Hobbit after that, and even record a heavy metal album, is beyond me.
Rest in peace sir.
for me, it's a period in time where many of those actors/musicians i grew up watching/listening to - and admiring, are passing on.
it's a shame really, as (for me) the last of the Horror Trinity of Cushing, Price and Lee has now left us.
i'd like to think that - like his iconic character - he couldn't die - alas it's not to be
we'll never see their like again
I won't say "Count Dracula; Rest In Peace" - because you never know, do yo ;-)
