Cut out the GODAWWFUL "Staying Power", "put out the fire", " tear it up" and "body language" and it's not a bad start.
A typical hodgepodge of variety. . The rest of the songs are pretty strong imho, with LIFE IS REAL (being a tribute and all) coming off weak but appropriate
God, it must have been embarrassing playing staying power live.... a cocaine nightmare of a song. The only good bit is the horn break

^ Especially 'Tear It Up' ! Overall excellent album.
Y' know what?
I'm not sure if you're being supportive or sarcastic since people here will mince you to pieces for INACCURACY. . Suffice it to say. .. I WAS WRONG. ... **obviously**
TEAR IT UP IS FROM "THE WORKS! "
Wow. ... it's like my mind immediately transitioned it into THE BAD QUEEN album. .. (overall it's a close call between THE WORKS AND HOT SPACE)
I think Hot Space was fresher and the works was pretty bad considering THEIR STANDARDS.
Jesus. .. now i know why it's been bugging me all night.
Hmm. .. maybe TEAR IT UP belongs on HOT SPACE. .. it's not much to write home about.
I'm sure the uncertainty and disunity in the band created a bad atmosphere. . Particularly when considering all those crappy UK bands were polarizing the charts between "old" and "new" (I'm looking at you TAKE THAT fans)
It must have been bewildering.
It's no wonder that Brian didn't fully rock out until AKOM (the album).. (though it's not their greatest it's still got heavier WEIGHT with the few (3) AWESOME tracks opposed to hot space/the works)
Geez. .. how could I have gotten my history wrong?
Must be the allergies

haha I've got your back on this one mate....You must have gotten your wires crossed with the similarities between Put out the fire and tear it out!!
I often get the two songs and their respective albums mixed up too!! They do sound very much alike and like you said and putting it into my words. Both songs are from that "lost /finding themselves again" era in Queen you know or Brian anyway? Almost seems like a sober afterthought for Brian writing tear it up!! At least it made a decent live act right up to their last show, although the one time drunk Brian writing and performing that solo on put out the fire, it would have to be Brian's only truly emotionally aggressive approach to doing a guitar solo and along with what was going on behind the scenes during those times in studio and the personal side of things

You are forgetting one thing my fellow "John Deacon is my number one fan" buddy haha!
The only other ONE thing that is rescuing that song "live"... It is that ONE and ONLY chance that song gave to us "John Deacon fans" of seeing him playing something other than his trusty Bass.... The one and only time "albeit" the touring life of that song and seeing John Deacon play a six string on stage, that black stratt!!! and thus... making Roger become the only member in Queen not to have played anything other than their "assigned" instrument (a percussion instrument on stage or on a music video as in Rogers case.....correct me if I am wrong!!).... Good old John Deacon aye!!!... Just saying....!!! not at all trying to make a point or statement about Queens most uninteresting/underrated member hahaha
Just before some Roger Taylor fan shoots me down for slander haha... I have to admit... Roger would have to be Queen's only true cricket all rounder or rugby's true utility player...!! Being the only member to really truly be able to write and perform a complete song by himself.... from vocals and drums through to bass, guitar and maybe some keyboards/piano as well!!
Another good topic starter.....
Who would follow on from Roger, from second through to fourth in regards to being all rounders and being able to write and compose a whole song in studio....
Would it be John for his ability to be able to play almost anything with some degree of skill and finesse...
Brian for his skills on the string side of things, his piano skills and the vocals and his lead persona to back him up....
Or... Freddie hands down with his vocal range the ability live to take control of the audience haha, and his skill on piano, keyboards and his guitar ability
