Was inspired to have a go at this one today. I wanted to restore a 'real' snare and get rid of that dated keyboard. Both of which I accomplished.
It's not perfect but I'm done for now.
Let me know what you think.
You're right, it's not perfect, but it's one of the most tricky mixes to try to do anything with. I like your improved drum sound, but there's two or three bits where a bass beat is 'missing', so it would sound better if you added those. I have to admit, I also dislike some of the keyboards, but it does sound kind of empty in places without them. Good effort, though.
It would be great to have the album version with a better drum sound, but no other adjustments, however, this wouldn't be easy without the album version stems. I've tried a few times to make it up from what we have, but it's never turned out any good.
Thanks Fickle.
It is a hard mix to work with. The available stems are not so user friendly. Too submixed. There are no good clean elements to work with.
I'm sure someone more talented than me could come up with something a little more interesting. Maybe I'll give it another shot sometime. I do like the drums MUCH better though.
It's different, and the keyboards to me give it kind of a different element. The drums sound a lot more punchy, so you achieved your effect seamlessly. Sounds a lot more 'roomy', which isn't bad. I give it a solid A- for sure :) You're on to something with this!!
