Brian must feel soooo disappointed! Nothing about the results on his soapbox. From MSN Canada: It's official: David Cameron is PM again David Cameron is Prime Minister again after winning a majority to put him back in power without the help of any other party. In an extraordinary General Election, which claimed the scalps of three party leaders within 52 minutes of each other, the Conservatives confounded expectations to win outright. He has gone to Buckingham Palace where he is meeting the Queen to tell her of his intention to form the country's next government. It makes Mr Cameron the second only Prime Minister to have increased their majority while in power - Margaret Thatcher was the first - although he will have to govern with the slimmest of majorities. |

Seriously, UK, what the FUCK is wrong with you? You just re-elected a government that likes to pretend that it's the '80s (either 1780s, 1880s or 1980s depending on the subject), led by a half-aristocrat/half-court jester who takes publicity shots of himself eating a hot dog with knife and fork in order to seem relatable to the 'common folk', a government that has helped the frauds and cheats who got the UK into the depression stay in power, a government that has renegged on pretty much all its flowery promises, a government that insists on sticking to the old not just when its rotten but because it is rotten (electoral system!), a government that thinks so little of the electorate that it is quite willing to talk eurosceptical and act europhile (I'm a left-wing europhile myself and have no sympathy for this kind of cheating even when it does further my own ends). UK - you've gotten yourself into one hell of a mess, and unless you get your heads out of your asses and start doing things differently, you're not going to get out of it. |

Thomas. Now now. you know exactly what is wrong with the UK. exactly the same as any other electorate in the same position. the choice was either; more of the same - but living with the hope that things will one day be better, or wait...wait...wait and see if any proper reason to vote Miliband materialises. the problem being that the vast majority want to vote labour, but don't want Miliband. and this time those opinion polls were probably right - it was neck and neck right up until the death...but those undecideds waited to hear ONE FEKKIN' THING from Milibland that would convince them...anything. it didn't happen result: they either didn't vote - or voted for someone else - ie SNP...ultimate result? - more of the same i can't understand your surprise |
mooghead 10.05.2015 04:19 |
Agree... as far as the British public have always been concerned its a case of better the devil you know. Would Labour have done any good if they got into power? No chance, remember last time? They are all lying, devious cretins who cannot be trusted, especially with what they say in the run up to an election. I can't understand your surprise. |
mooghead 10.05.2015 04:20 |
And I wont moan about what is to come in the next 5 years as I didn't vote. I expect to be shafted sideways regardless of who is in power. |

as an electorate we get what we deserve. if we fail to see through the rhetoric and blame culture then we are fools. nothing ever changes. "I'll tip my hat to the new constitution, Take a bow for the new revolution....Meet the new boss - Same as the old boss" Cameron's whole election campaign was one based on fear alone "vote labour you get debt, welfare state and scotland wagging the dog" - is this the first winning campaign whose winning ticket was not based on anything they pledged? now he has got what he wants i think it's backfired horribly for him - as SNP have 8.5% of all seats in westminster - which isn't bad for 1.45m (4.7% vote share) who actually voted for the SNP. this "SNP tail" will be wagging the Tory dog more than ever it would have labour. there's no way the Tories can't give them full devolution - as if they don't they (SNP) can cite broken promises as the reason for a second referendum, independence and taking their oil-fields with them. Cameron can NOT run that risk. |

^^^just one. why does Casper criticise UK voters? this is a huge "pot/kettle/black" moment - when you consider that the Dutch political system is geared toward little else other than coalition - something that only tends to work well during wartime. |

I fear for my neighbours in England. The North desperately wanted a Labour/SNP coalition, but the larger areas have chosen to give Scotland the two fingers with an English Nationalist vote (how dare Scotland want a say in the "union" they told us we could "lead" back in September!!). They could have had an alternative to the austerity, benefits sanctions, bedroom tax, privatisation of the NHS, tax relief for big companies, banker's bonuses, the taking away of human rights etc etc that they now face, but have cut off their nose to spite their face. They'll reap what they sow. As for Scotland, we've had a great result with 56 from 59 seats being taken by the SNP. It was win-win for us : a Labour government we could persuade on many issues, or a Tory government we can threaten with a referendum if they don't listen. There are halfwits who are blaming Scotland for the Tory government: my advice to them is to buy a calculator. Whilst I sincerely do fear for my neighbours, I am so excited about Scotland's future. Independence (now sitting at around 52% support) is inevitable. |

I read that the repeal of human rights may contravene the Good Friday agreement. Is this accurate? Possible ramifications? |

Yes, they have decent government and are economically stable: however, compare and contrast with governments such as that of Italy, and take into consideration the economic crash of the Italians, Irish, Spanish, Portuguese Greeks et al in recent years. Then look at the fact that the UK is now governed by a right-wing Party that over 70% of the population didn't vote for, is in massive debt and is now looking at major austerity whilst renewing Trident (as well as looking to exit Europe and scrapping Human Rights in place of a shoddy "British Bill" which pisses over the Good Friday agreement). I'd say Europe is in a f*cking mess too, Bob. |
