I realized it would be a great thread, thanks to going back to old posts and reading stories (as the story told in the Earls Court thread). Just post your experience (or experiences, if you were lucky). Sadly, due to my age and country, I've never been in a show. But we would love to read your stories and the context (Ex.: I were with my cousin and he screamed to Fred 'faggot', and then Freddie answered 'fuck off and die you fag', or it you have some anecdote before or after the show.) I'm sure almost everyone has a story, don't be shy! Come on! :-) Also, if you have a recording (it doesn't matters if it's 5 min. or 2 hours) of the concert, you have the possibility to share it. Just upload it (in the QZone server) in WAV or FLAC packaged in a .zip. |

I went to the first night of the Queen + AL in Chicago. I really was only there to see Roger and Brian obviously. I am not a fan of AL but I guess it was okay. Climaxes of the show were Love of my life when Freddie appeared on screen kind of like he was there, great feeling when that happened. Also loved Roger singing days of our lives and was great to hear Brian singing 39 and bohemian rhapsody was great when They showed Freddie singing! Overall i did have fun. I probably would go again if they tour The US again. |

First and only time I saw Brian and Roger live was in January when they played the O2 with Adam Lambert. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the show a great deal. I am a die-hard Freddie fan, almost above being a Queen fan, but Adam did a good job I think. It was great to hear Brian's guitar live - it really sounded much better than it does on any live or studio recording. Roger's drumming didn't impress me as much, and Rufus played a good portion of the show instead of him. But, to be honest, just being in the same place with Brian and Roger was enough to make my month. Before the show I felt a certain kinship with all the other people waiting to enter the arena, whilst buying extremely over-priced beer from the bar. It felt good to finally be close to the band which meant so much to me. It was truly a magical experience for a guy who's been a Queen fan since he was old enough to appreciate music. And it was an almost spiritual experience when they got Freddie on the big screen, singing parts of Bo Rhap - I think they took the clip from Budapest - another clip might have been from Montreal - they only used the 35mm film footage, no Wembley as far as I could see. It feels really great when Freddie comes on screen, and you can hear huge applause from the audience. We didn't have the best seats, as can be seen from the attached extremely crappy photo which I took with my phone, but it was well worth going. To all those in Argentina and the other South American countries where Queen will be going - if you can go see them, make sure you do. |

Reading about Barcelona up there. ... makes me wonder what they'd intended on doing by saying FREDDIE'S DEAD. Was it mockingly or was it some kind of borderline tribute lost in translation? Crazy to hear about that. If it's have you ATTENDED a Queen or "Queen" show then yeah. I've attended Q+AL. Inglewood. The sound was low for elders and the house lights seemed to be dim but on for most of the entire gig. It made me wish I caught a Q+ PR gig. Brian played more surprises in his solo on those tours It was also a bad personal night (family member ill at the hospital) I only went because he'd have wanted me to. I missed attending QUEEN: written in the stars (Hollywood walk of fame induction) concert by being 2 weeks shy of 21 years old. That always irked me. It was a little known 300 or so capacity gig. I attended the ceremony but tried unsuccessfully to get a fake ID for the show. Do any recordings exist of it? |

I recall we were a few Queen fans spread here and there in the front rows, enjoying and singing every single word during Brian's performance. Those stupid gnr kids thought they were the toughest guys in the audience and decided to attack us by making us remember Freddie was no longer with us. It was their way to say "fuck you Queen fans, you have no Freddie. Your time has passed". I'm sure they still remember today that a Queen fan released his hitman that day. And they were fucked off big time ..... .... yeaaaaaah!! (please read this "yeah" ala Axl Rose) |

11 shows in the last 10 years or so. Five with Paul and Six with Adam. Liked them both, despite being so different. Here's the detail... Q+PR 2005: Vienna 4/13, Munich 4/14, Prague 4/16 & Leipzig 4/17. Loved Vienna as it was my first show and Brian played the Blue Danube. I stood relatively close to the stage. The band were a bit excited/nervous but that translated into a very energetic show. Munich I was on the benches so it wasn't as cool. In Prague I met the whole band except for Paul Rodgers outside of their hotel. I even caught up with Brian twice! (Before AND after the show). In Leipzig I was very close to the stage but I was so tired from travelling by then I didn't enjoy it so much. Brian sung the second verse of '39 for the first time in the tour. Q+PR 2006: San Diego 4/1 Mind blowing show. The whole band was TIGHT and ON FIRE. I even enjoyed AOBTD which I usually hate live. Paul was inspired and the audience seemed to sing his songs just as much as Queen's. I was right next to the catwalk on Brian's side with 4 friends. Amazing experience. Q+AL 2014: Montreal 7/14, Philadelphia 7/16, NY MSG 7/17, Uncasville CT 7/19 (Brian's Birthday!), Jersey 7/23 and Atlantic City 7/26 (Roger's Birthday!). Overall, amazing tour. The band was great. Adam shines. I welcomed all the 70's material. I went to all six shows with my dear wife. The band seemed a bit pissed off at Philadelphia for some reason. I'll never get used to Brian swearing. Montreal was the best experience for me. First show for me on this tour; 5th row, next to the catwalk. Philly was meh. NY was special because it was MSG. Uncasville was a smaller venue and it was Brian's birthday so that was cool as well. Curtain malfunction and no guitar cam in Jersey; Arrived 40 min late to the AC show (fuck traffic) but still managed to see the only variations in the setlist: Dragon Attack played and Staying Power added to the bass solo. Not a very good rendition but by that time, any variation was cause of joy. Good times! |

I know 3 people that attended that show; and their love/apreciation for Freddie & Queen is... let's say it's not even close to mine. And every time I meet any of them, knowing the Queen freak I am, they always have that fucking minute to remind me how lucky they were to see Freddie and how glorious that Magic Tour show was (though I am sure they can't remember a shit of that parrticular day). anyway, it hurts. Got to see Queen, the Brian May Band and QPR and QAL in: [listu] [li]1978 - New Orleans, Louisiana - (Halloween Night - didn't get a chance to make it to the "infamous party" though) [li]1978 - Oakland, California Dec 16th - great show - actually remember more of this one than the one in New Orleans; remember a lady sitting next to me who worked for a record company saying "I hope they don't get any bigger than they are now or they'll lose a lot of their uniqueness". [li]1980 - Essen, Germany - Nov 29th - for some reason "Need Your Loving Tonight" stands out [li]1980 - Frankfurt, Germany - Dec 14th - just after Lennon was shot - remember them playing "Imagine" [li]1982 - Frankfurt, Germany - Apr 28th - they seemed overly energetic - maybe to makeup for the lack of interest in Hot Space? [li]1993 - Birmingham, Alabama - Feb 24th - Brian May Band - opened for Guns N' Roses - was able to get in early and watch a bit of the sound check - felt bad for Brian and the band during their show as the kids in attendance really weren't sure who Brian May was and were there strictly for Guns. [li]2006 - San Diego, California - Queen + Paul Rodgers - Apr 1st, loved the show even though I pretty much knew the running order because the release of the "Return of the Champions" CD/DVD. Thought Paul Rodgers did a great job on the Queen songs his voice was capable of singing and the "Bad Company/Free" songs were very good. The volume seemed much lower than I remember the previous Queen shows I'd been too. [li]2014 - Houston, Texas - Queen + Adam Lambert - was happy to see some songs performed that Paul Rodgers couldn't but wasn't, and still am not, a fan of Adam Lamberts voice overall although his new single "Ghosttown" is pretty good. The show was good and I'm glad I went because I fear they'll never tour the USA again. [/listu] |

Brian May Band - Hamilton Canada (opening for GnR). Got lost on the way to the show and missed the first couple songs. My first time seeing any Queen live so I sat there and soaked it all in. Good show. GnR were great too. Brian May Band - Montreal. Best show. On the floor about 3 rows deep. Also got backstage being connected to other Queen fans who were doing some charity work for AIDs and got permission from the promoter to get Brian's autograph to auction. Got an autograph on the backstage pass which I still have. Brian was very nice and friendly. I was a bit embarrased for how some "fans" were behaving - clamouring for his attention and bringing stacks and stacks of records for the band to sign. Brian May Band - Toronto. Night after Montreal I believe. Reserved seating and got bumped closer because we were right where the soundboard was. We were husled out of the Montreal backstage pretty quickly but the promoter promised us that we'd have passes for Toronto too. Didn't happen. I brought a date I was trying to impress with the promise that I could get her backstage but didn't get anywhere. Good show but not as good as Montreal. Queen + PR - Toronto. Not impressed with the recordings I heard from the tour I was going to skip it, but decided to go at the last minute - bought floor seats (15th row) off ebay for super cheap (the guy was super pissed off I got them for about half value). I decided to go myself so I craigslisted the extra ticket and got back all my money - making it a free show. My non-Queen fan friends already had tickets and they thought it was the best show they ever saw. I enjoyed the PR songs best - like it was Paul Rodgers with the worlds best backing band vs Queen with a singer who didn't fit the style. I didnt have a computer at that time, so I wasnt following what they were playing on that tour.....so Bad Company came as a pleasant surprise, and I remember hearing WWRY, and thinking "what, no All Right Now?", but that just came next :D Next concert I go to, whatever it is, I'm gonna try to not know what the setlist is beforehand! It's kinda like knowing what your Xmas presents are before you open them.....lol Like when I saw Rush back in 98 and they played the complete '2112'.........I about lost my mind.......heheheh.... |

I went to see Q+PR on the 2nd of july, 2005, at Lisbon. It was a magical night! As soon as I bought the ticket months earlier I started to dream about the show! I waited the entire afternoon on the artifical grass of Restelo stadium. By chance, I found there people from my own town and we were together the entire show! What a night! The moment I laid my eyes on Brian at the beginning of the show, tears appeared in my eyes! The whole show was very emotional, with all the 29000 fans singing to every single word of every Queen song. The crowd never took a rest, always shouting Bri and Rog's names! Brian missed the slide on TYMD guitar solo and, if I'm not mistaken, he felt some difficulties on the solo of Love Of My Life. I remember Brian, the next day thanking all the warm welcome on the show and saying he felt ill after eating some food. It remains as one of the best days of my entire life! |

July 1986- st James park, newcastle. Stood outside with my mum aged 11 lasting memories of walking around the toon with radio gaga blasting through. June 1993- brian may at Whitley bay ice rink. Cozy Powell the loudest drummer ever, some weirded South American band supported. Day before my 18th birthday too November 1994- roger at newcastle riverside. One of the best gigs ever and a small venue wish I had got some autographs. Sadly venue not there but the new riverside hosts Geordie shore bollocks! October 1998 - brian may at newcastle city hall. Glad I got to see him at the legendary city hall, have a boot of the show and remember brian getting shirty with some hecklers. Opened wth since you've been gone and did sail away sweet sister which was awesome. March 1999 - roger at riverside again which was equally brilliant. Treana Morris did a very good version of sleeping on the sidewalk. December 2000 - roger at Manchester Apollo. Sas band tribute for Paul young. Lots of good acts on the bill, another great rock venue too outside of newcastle for once... May 2005 - queen and Paul Rodgers at newcastle arena, a great show and finally seeing RT @ BM together. Never a great venue though, remember watching liverpool beating chelsea in champions league semi when I to home. Happy days. September 2008 - queen @ pr at newcastle arena. Got crap seats at the back but liked the new stuff despite negative press. Also liked PR May 2011 and may 2013brian and Kerry. At the sage Gateshead, great venue and also support from vintage trouble. Brian had a barnyard with people talking at 2013 gig. January 2015 - queen and Adam lambert. Newcastle arena. A great performance and show, queen forever Would love to hear some of those shows again, just have the 1998 and 1986 one. |

@master marathon runner, that is a wicked awesome list~ for myself, Q+PR: New Jersey and Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Good times!!! (especially New Jersey) and decent shows, altho I wished there was more from the PR catalog and more covers like the Jimi Hendrix. Hoped for a Rock n Roll revue, and mostly got what I wanted. Still love hearing "Wishing Well." Q+ AL, Detroit: took AL awhile to warm up the crowd, sort of until AOBTD. He did fine, the stage set was great, the song list was amazing, overall sound of Brian and Roger roared the right amount of crunchy and smooth and melodic aggression. That dragon attacked. imho AL is not FM but he is just good enough to drive the Ferrari. "Stone Cold Crazy" ya know! |

Be interesting to know if anyone has or knows someone that has been to the hand full of Freddie's solo shows including his "last" public performance with Montserrat Caballé (haw many would the total list be of Freddies solo shows would there be..?).... and the very small handfull of John Deacons (outside of Freddies era) gigs once again how many did he do? any before Freddie's death...? i.e 72-91..? |

Saw the original four in the US - 1978 in Dayton Ohio (News of the World) at age eighteen, and in my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio a year later for the Jazz tour. The Dayton show was only my second of third rock concert. There was a mad crush outside the arena and the audience started the stomp stomp clap way before the band hit the stage. I had expected them to sound "pretty" (a la Night at the Opera) and was blown away by their pace, power, and volume - not to mention Freddie's ferocious stage presence despite the fact that he was wearing a diamond leotard with ballet slippers. Dayton was a few days before or after Houston, so if you have seen the video that is pretty much what I saw the first time out. For the Jazz show in Cincinnati I got way down in front of the stage and all the hardcore fans sang along to every song. If You Can't Beat Them came early in the set and Fat Bottomed Girls was played later, maybe around mid set. We were so close we made eye contact with the Merc many times. John never moved from the drum riser. Brian May never once looked at the audience in front of the stage but always focused at the back of the arena. Many times he stopped playing to rub his fingers (in pain) together and winced audibly at the tail end of Brighton Rock. He sure has speedy fingers! They did not play the rock and role medley encore at either show. |

Thanks! I love reading fans stories about Queen. This is my list 1. 2016-03-02 Brian&Kerry in Poland (Krakow) - I wasn't interested to go there even though I live 100km from Krakow. Then suddenly 2 or 3 days before the concert, before going to sleep, I decided to go. I didn't want to regret. When I was waiting to go inside the concert hall, the ticket inspector opened the door and he went inside for a moment (it was about 40-50 min. before the start). When he opened the door Brian was having a soundcheck and for a short moment I could hear This guitar. It was the first time I was hearing Red Special. It wasn't Queen, far from it, but I was so happy looking at Brian and hearing his guitar. 2. 2016-06-19 QAL in Poland (Oswiecim) - I knew I had to go there because it could be my only chance to see Roger and to hear Queen songs played by Brian and Roger. Unfortunately I was far from the stage and people around me were not very enthusiastic. There was some drunk couple behind me and the guy was talking all the way through the concert. The positive side was that at the Queen set there was heavy rain and the only sector under the roof was mine :) I was quite amazed at how many people were leaving the concert because of rain. The concert started at 11 p.m. and after it finished it was very funny looking at all those people who were as soaked as it can get! Everyone wanted to jump into the car as fast as they could so there was a little bit of confusion and I got lost. I had to call my father and somehow we found each other haha. Lesson for the future - next time very close to the stage (if it will ever happen...) Here is my photo when I took my place at the stadium |

Excuse my poor memory for actual dates... Wembley (Saturday) - went with a load of VIth from friends. My first stadium concert. Was not 18 but bought beer with no problems. Decided not to join lengthy queue for ladies so nipped into gents to pee. Thought it was the greatest concert I had ever been to. Might not have actually changed my mind yet in 30 odd years. Fan club xmas party when the Cross played at Hammersmith Palais and were joined by John and Brian - was right at the front squashed up to the stage. Still wish I'd been able to see more of The Cross. Cosmos Rocks tour at the O2. Very reluctantly bought the album and (in contrast to many here) actually liked it. Bought tickets with trepidation. Was blown away by the show. Different. Not Freddie. But still great live music. Q +AL At the Isle of Wight festival last year. I ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT going to pay for a ticket or go because I did not like the whine of his voice on the New Years Eve show a few years previously. However the offer of a wristband for a tenner was too much to resist. I went expecting to be disappointed. I was not. More great live music... And do to this year. I've got tickets for Stockholm (anyone else?) for me and my partner to have a few days away and a show for our birthdays and xmas. There is a definite part of me that thinks this will be the last time I will get the chance to see two of my greatest musical heroes (I was always more of a Taylor/May fan than a Mercury fan when it came to solo efforts) and so I am determined to enjoy the spectacle - even if that Lambert voice is still whiny.... |

Very reluctant to go. Truly last minute decision. Didn't tape. Only half an hour of video or so. Rushed to the front of the stage of this relatively small venue to take good pictures of Brian and Roger. Couldn't care for Adam Lambert. I truly went to see Brian and Rog one last time and take some good pics. Won't be seeing them with AL anymore. Can't stand his singing and stage persona. |
