Check out this phenomenal pic from one of the Earls Court shows. Has anyone got it without the watermark? Definitely one of the very best pics of Queen live. |
DepeX 20.04.2015 07:23 |
Unfortunately no. Indeed, beautiful pic ;-) |
earwig 20.04.2015 07:35 |
Obviously you would need to buy it from Getty Images?! But yeah - amazing pic (you can see "camera 2') |

Nice, makes you feel like you're watching over the band and the audience, like some sort of omniscient rock god. |

Amazing picture ! There has got to be more like this. |

Nice one indeed. Lovely to see some of the audience from this point of view for a change. Kinda "modern" picture for a Queen live picture. |

Many thanks for the link !!! Some of the shots are excellent, and that photo with Freddie and the photographer is particularly interesting .... never seen it before, Freddie seems vulnerable, troubled, out of his "macho" persona. |

Great pic Bob, really is like being there. Hard to believe almost 38 years ago! Gets the perspective on how slight Freddie was, it's amazing to think how he fitted into that harlequin suit having seen it at Stormtroopers in stilettos in London and in Montreux. |
Bad Seed 21.04.2015 15:12 |
Lovely pic. I'm assuming that's the round trapdoor next to Freddie's left foot which he emerges from for BoRap. I wonder ifthe camera crew managed to capture that on the 2nd night? *was it BoRap? |

I can't speak for the 2nd night but I was at the 1st night and in the front row thanks to the fan club (I was 15). It's engraved on my memory even now so there are a couple of things I can confirm. I have NO recolllection of Freddie emerging from the trapdoor during BR. He did, however, emerge from it at the begining of the rock'n'roll medly. It was quite startling because he was so close and was wearing the silver sequinned leotard. I've been looking for more pics like the one above for ages in case I can see myself. Looking at my own pics I was positioned slightly more to right (looking from the stage). Some other stuff. There were definitely large screens flown high on either side of the stage. I remember walking into the venue from the back of the arena and seeing the colour bars on the screens. There had been no mention of a crown stage so it was hard to figure what the stage was, The curtains were only about 3 ft high hanging from what turned out to be the base of the crown. I couldn't figure where the band would be performing (remember this was one of the first moving rigs). The music playing while the audience came in was Chopin. At one stage a bagpipe band paraded down the hall. When the show started (Procession) I didn't notice what was on the screens. The curtains opened around the base, loads of dry ice and the whole fucking thing started moving. It just kept slowly moving up to the DATR intro and, to be honest, to my 15 year old senses it was mind blowing. It was just massive. The oper bit was shown on the screens during BR. At the end the whole crown twinled with fairy lights. It really was stunning. The vids are OK but don't really do it justice. I notice in the vid Brian smliing and looking directly at where the trapdoor is but for some reason no bloody cameraman caught it. Also interestuing in the pic is everyone sitting down. It took ages to get going. I remember Fred saying something like "get up, we can all be cool you know". By the end it was nuts. |
