One thing about Queen in the 80s is that they always had fantastic album covers!
The only album sleeve i was not really fussed with was the "Innuendo" cover!
The music on that album was also a little mixed and confusing at times!
From a rock spanish feel of innuendo to freddie singing about his cat on Delilah.
Quite an odd Queen mix of songs!

didn't know Innuendo was from the eighties.
Funny I was just realizing 2 minutes ago how I always thought the artwork from Innuendo and all the singles was so much better than the stuff released in the years before.

Personally I always thought their best album covers were in the 70s, the only 80s Queen album cover I really like is Hot Space! I'd even go as far to say I haven't really liked ANY of the covers of their recent projects, aside from Rainbow, which I'm still not TOTALLY thrilled about.......(not a big fan of that font!).....all the cover art for the Q+Paul stuff was just kinda.....blah, nothing special.....

Queen having an odd mix of songs on album?? GASP!!! :O
The AKOM artwork really sucks. Why are their backs and shoulders so huge? Those eighties "Roger Rabbit kind of" animation is ugly.
Innuendo is great by the way.

really? you'd put The Works & Hot Space covers above Innuendo, artistically? I suppose it takes all sorts eh? and the cover for "Magic" looks like something that'd be done by a primary-school class, portraying a message of "not to be taken seriously"

that's what queen did best - innuendo (a 90s album btw) is a hark back to classic queen - just look at SHA, Opera & Races - these albums are "mixed and confusing" - that's what made queen's music a little intangible, and enigmatic. the 80s stuff had none of that - it was album after album in a long stream of insipid 80s synth pop....
if the 70s (and to an extent Innuendo) were the vintage claret, then the 80s albums were the "supermarket vinegarish 4ltr boxed wine"
One thing that you have to remember is that Freddie was a trained graphic designer so I bet he had a quite large creative input on how the album sleeve would look.
Richard Gray is a tired designer now - i wish they would get some flesh blood in the creative team at QPL everything released post 1995 is "samey".
I love the Kind of Magic artwork...it's excellent cartoon/animation styled caricatures of the band. Very well done. Innuendo (and it's various singles) featured 19th century artwork by French artist Grandville...some of the art was slightly tweaked by Richard Gray and his crew.
