Apologies if this has been mentioned before but after watching the known EC footage last night, I noticed something that I'd never noticed before. I think it's long been acknowledged (by myself at least) that the footage was a live edit which was fed to the screens in the arena and what we see is what we get, i.e. no possibility of a new edit. However, after watching footage of the 2nd night, particularly the stuff DoRo had their hands on, it seems that it's possible all cameras were recording individually. Compare the versions of YTMBA from both nights and you'll see what I mean. Either, on the 2nd night the director decided to put a shift in and done some very nice live editing, or DoRo had the original rushes when putting COTW together. Sorry I can't put a link up at the moment to compare. |

[...] I must say that I think that's a lie (from Queen Productions, not from you). I mean, - for example - before the Rainbow release, they said that Fairy Feller's didn't existed live. Maybe this is a similar lie to hype people when the official release is released/announced. |
Nitroboy 13.03.2015 11:59 |
I don't think that it's a lie per se, just them not knowing better? :P |
Bad Seed 13.03.2015 15:38 |
Whether it is a lie or them not knowing any better, at least we know there is a possibility of them having individual feeds from all cameras. Increases the possibility of a release in 2017 no doubt. |

So now every concert will be released properly only on its 40th anniversary? Sigh. |

I firmly believe that there is more incompetence than deliberate lying involved. I don't get the impression (based on almost two decades of experience) that Queen Productions are anywhere near as organized as many other major bands - in fact, I get the distinct impression that they're running a thoroughly amateur business, 'archivist' Greg Brooks' uncorrected and repeated sloppiness being a case in point. |

Penetration_Guru wrote: First I've heard of big screens at a Queen show in the 70sYup. It's why there are pro shot videos of a lot of bands at the Summit in Houston in the late 70s and early 80s - Aerosmith, The Eagles, Kiss, The Who, Springsteen, and probably Zeppelin too. The bands had a deal with the venue. And fortunately someone had the common sense to press that ever-elusive red button to grab mono board feeds so that we could enjoy the videos all these years later. And to think the place where all this magic was captured is now one of those mega-churches.. |
