Hi everyone,
Now it's time for the raw transfer of "Queen in Argentina '81" 2001 (or 2002) TV Special featuring several tracks from the legendary Buenos Aires March 1st 1981 show.
Here's a DVD: link
many thanks for posting this. While not as sharp as the QTV version, this one seems to have better black levels and its nice to not have that pesky QTV logo in the corner. I'm not asking for Rare Live quality but you'd think a rebroadcast in 2001 would have warranted some kind of professional mastering to a then 20 year old set of VHS tapes.

At that time there wasn't good enough machinery (especially in a poor channel like 9) to remaster very old U-matic tapes (not even VHS or Beta which it was introduced in the market in 1983)
So... that's that.
Thanks a lot for this antiden. I just wish they could release a video box-set of their 81 South American tour. The band sounded great!
Some of the best Freddie Mercury live performances ... EVER!
Antiden, you have a great Queen collection, and i really appreciate all the stuff that you have been sharing. This is great stuff!
Thanks again.
It's just me, or at least the third .vob file (the only one until now that I managed to download) have some jumps and a repeated part and deleted the interview part (in great quality)?

You have to demux and remux the whole thing to work properly.

Well, nope. It was not technically a re-broadcast, but some segments included on a TV special. They just copied the original U-MATIC the material was in to another one. No remastering.

So this is what their master looks like? If so, that's really disappointing, as it's not in good shape at all. It looks far better on the Champions Of The World documentary from the 90s.

Well, NO! Here you have:
U-MATIC master -> U-MATIC master copy -(editing)-> REC program analog master -(analog broadcast)-> Fan-recorded VHS -> ? -(digitizing)-> Fan-recorded DVD
I remember watching the master from the original U-MATIC tape and it was beautiful!
Does this include some alternate angles? I mean I"ve seen here some bits I don't remember seeing before, but I admit I haven't seen the common version for some time.
Thanks for the share antiden

Thank you for sharing antiden. Great concert.
About the Maradona bit, I thought British hated him... ah, the Hand of God hadn't happened yet.
I hope to see the master of this video someday, after what Wilki Amieva mentioned.
