The band hated playing Sweden because of the lack of drugs. So Hendrix took a couple of Snaps instead before, and it's a well know fact that he couldn't handle alcohol well. Add internal tensions in the band to that and throughout most of the gig you get uninspired, reckless playing. But this particular performances is a real gem, very different to any other version of the song they ever played. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn5TNqjuHiU#t=107

The 1981 concert in Central Park isn't at all close to being Art Garfunkel's best vocal performance (that'd go to one of the 1969 shows, I believe), but this particular song is very noteworthy. It was written by Paul Simon originally, and sung by Garfunkel, for their 1966 album.
The song's lyrics pretty much detail becoming estranged from a loved one and then losing said loved one entirely, to death. By the time of the Central Park concert, this song would have taken on new personal meaning for Garfunkel - his girlfriend Laurie Bird had committed suicide in 1979. Garfunkel has said his resulting depression lasted for virtually the entirety of the 1980s. Without question, Garfunkel was channelling his feelings regarding Bird's death into this new performance of the old song - he looks on the verge of tears by the end of it.
Little Richard did an incredible show at the now defunct UNIVERSAL AMPHITHEATER in universal city in February 2003. However his performance of hank Williams' I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (with slightly altered lyrics) was so incredible as to be "Chuh'ch" incredibly spiritual. That night Irealizedhe was the king of the whole thing.
Ive only seen Dio, Prince and Halford come close to such sheer soulfullness.
It's a shame there are comparatively close to zero live recordings of the guy. Now he's virtually retired.
(Sorry but I could never find video of that performance)

The last song of the last gig before the split. They would reform several years later but without the tragic Paul Hester who took his own life....
