Perhaps for the results, but was the album John wanted to do, more oriented to funk, disco music. According to Mack.
Yeah, but when it comes to knowing what John thought, John's a far more reliable source than Mack.
John said several times that he didn't like the album.
Why would he, anyway? Most of it was not written by him, a lot of it does not feature him at all and on the one song he wrote he had to compromise and allow a guitar solo he initially didn't want.
Other than 'Under Pressure', nothing on that album ended up the way he would've wanted it.
He played keyboards (ok,MAYBE not all of them, but some for sure),guitar, bass, and he programmed the drums on Linn Drum Machine. They're not human.I'm a drummer,I should know.Besides, you can easily check these facts online.Type this: "Cool Cat,all instruments played by John'' in Google, and read the results.
Karfan.....I tend to side with Seb on this. I think you actually believe a lot of the tripe posted as factoids on the net.
Just cause you're a drummer makes you no more decisive! Google is your base of fact. Next you'll be telling me Wiki is the Holy Grail of truths??
There are tons of false myths, legends and claims about Queen. A lot of them are born out of genuine mistakes, but they spread quite quickly.
Here are the first forty I can think of:
1. Bo Rhap having 180 vocals.
2. Bo Rhap having been recorded on 16-track 2" tape.
3. Bo Rhap being the first video anyone ever did.
4. Bo Rhap's released version being edited down from a longer one.
5. Queen's demo sessions having been produced by Louis Austin.
6. Queen II having been completely recorded in less than a month.
7. Queen II not having any synthesisers.
8. Freddie having won an Ivor Novello for Killer Queen.
9. Killer Queen having been a No 1 record.
10. A Night at the Opera sessions having started on the 24th of August.
11. John having played a Fender Rhodes on Best Friend.
12. Brian having recorded '39 on a twelve-string acoustic.
13. You Take My Breath Away having been played live before they'd recorded it.
14. We Are the Champions having been conceived after a 1977 concert in Stafford.
15. Bicycle Race having been conceived after Freddie witnessed the Tour de France in Nice.
16. Jazz having been recorded after the band bought Mountain Studios.
17. Live Killers not having any overdubs.
18. Another One Bites the Dust having no synths.
19. Under Pressure having been written by Roger.
20. John liking Hot Space.
21. Thriller owing its very existence to Hot Space.
22. John having played all instruments on Cool Cat.
23. Cool Cat having programmed drums.
24. Brian having played an organ on the Wedding March.
25. Brian having recorded all electric guitars with the Red Special except for CLTCL, Mother Love and Long Away.
26. Freddie having been thrown stuff at Rock in Rio for wearing falsies during Break Free.
27. Mexico being in South America.
28. Freddie only being able to play three chords on guitar.
29. Brian hating Don't Stop Me Now.
30. Kenny Everett playing Bo Rhap 14 times on his weekend programme.
31. Heaven for Everyone having been conceived for A Kind of Magic.
32. Roger having written Party.
33. Brian being the main author of Was It All Worth It.
34. Roger being the main composer of Innuendo.
35. John being largely absent on the Innuendo sessions.
36. John being the main author of Don't Try So Hard.
37. You Don't Fool Me originating from the Hot Space sessions.
38. Brian having composed My Life Has Been Saved.
39. Brian being the main composer of Bijou.
40. Freddie having recorded Mother Love a couple of weeks before his death.
And yeah, for every single one of those false claims you can find alleged evidence on google and/or books and/or magazines, but they don't stop being wrong, no matter how many websites, often copying each other without verifying anything, state otherwise.

Any idea why and when he came up with 12-strings in live?
19. Under Pressure having been written by Roger.
lol
27. Mexico being in South America.
Nice!
29. Brian hating Don't Stop Me Now.
Could you tell me more about this please?
Of course I could google it to save your time, but it would defy what you said above about google^^

Quite a few songs that had been recorded on a six-string were played live on twelve-string:
* '39.
* Crazy Little Thing Called Love of My Life Is Real.
* Dreamer's Ball (I'm not sure about that one).
Strangely enough, 'Is This the World We Created' was quite the opposite: recorded on twelve-string acoustic, played live on six-string classical electric.
