This set was recorded by a former member of queenzone who kindly donated the footage to me so It could be shared here. The files have some filters applied and dynamic range compression done by the recorder, I simply tracked the flac recording that was supplied to me. If you are on twitter please send a message to https://twitter.com/AWerfhorst to thank him for sharing this great recording. oliverd05 wrote: ahh Mark looking awesome!! you wouldnt have playlists coming for any other dates ?? like Newcastle Leeds or Manchester? I'm very busy with real life work at the moment so London BD is my first priority when I have spare time, communicating with people and gathering the footage is really time consuming. I will add as much as I can to the multicam collection in the next few months. I really enjoy making them and I think they deserve to be archived and shared. Sadly, time for Queen + Al projects is my enemy at the moment. Don't worry, I will do as much as I can. I might have to wait until mid May before I can produce in the same volume as the 2014 stuff, who knows though, somebody else might step up and produce some, anybody can do it if I can. :) |

I'll get to the 2015 tour in full as soon as I have the time. There is some great footage although not as complete as N.America, as I said though, it deserves to be archived and shared. I have developed some great contacts on Twitter and Facebook as well as on QZ and they are very enthusiastic about donating audio and video, so who knows? I might get to make one or two more BD's |

Damn, would loved to have met up with you :) Although thanks to the trains I arrived only 10 minutes before the show started. Hope you enjoyed it, I know you had doubts after 2012 but Adam has progressed as a performer and singer since then i think, for what it is I think it is very enjoyable.. |

We stayed in a pub after the concert (with Richard Orchard!!!) but left shortly before midnight in order to not get stranded in nowhere land with the tube closing at midnight. People told us that soon the tube will work over night like in a real city ;.). so next time we can have a real aftershow party! I still do not like this voice but I can turn a deaf ear on it :-) Are you doing more shows, Mark? |

since the Church mics are way out of reach with Sheffield only being a matter of weeks away!! what does everyone reckon to these ive found on Amazon? can the experts shed any light on wether it will be good enough? link |

oliverd05 wrote: since the Church mics are way out of reach with Sheffield only being a matter of weeks away!! what does everyone reckon to these ive found on Amazon? can the experts shed any light on wether it will be good enough? linkNO, DO NOT GET THESE!!! They do not have the kind of dynamic range that you need for recording live concerts. The blog where people in the know talk about recording equipment and technique is Tapersection. They have a "Yard Sale" thread with equipment for sale that you could check out, but I don't see anything there at the moment. link You could email Church Audio and just see if there is any possibility of getting anything really quick. I think he is in Canada, so don't know how quickly shipping is from there to you. My go to place, after Church Audio, is Sound Professionals. Here is a chart that shows what equipment is recommended for what type of music recording: link Note that you want to go with the very loud performance, noisy crowd selection. Under this catagory, the recommended mics are SP-CMC-2. (The SP-SPSB-6 is a now discontinued batter box, but there are newer versions.) link On the SP-CMC-2 mic page is a list of optional features and items. You absolutely must get a battery box!!! Either the SP-SPSB-10 or SP-SPSB-11 will do. The *-11 version has a "bass rolloff" feature which is a low cut filter to filter out the really low bass sounds. I know people who use this religiously, but I never have. For the extra $10 USA, it is nice to have in case you ever need it. I would however, recommend getting the "removable output cable version" option. I have had one battery box from them with a non-removable cable and that unit now has a short in it where the cable enters the box. You will then need to buy a separate cable to connect the battery box to the recording unit. The other optional equipment that you should consider is the windscreens. If you ever plan to do any recording outdoors, you will need these to help prevent the recording from being ruined by wind noise. Recorders are notorious for picking up wind noise even when our ears do not hear any!!! Depending on how you plan to wear the mics, you may also want the optional clips. If you wear glasses, than I suggest getting the croakies as they are the best way to wear the mics. link A few words on the technical specifications for your education. For very loud concerts, it is very important to look at the technical specifications of the mics. If you click on the "Specifications" tab of the mic web page, you will see a list. Look especially at the "Maximum Input Sound Level" numbers, 3 in this case. You will also see this referred to as maximum SPL (Sound Pressure Level). It is a measure of how loud of a sound the mics can record before distorting. The 1st number, 116 dB, is the Max SPL with no battery box. The 2nd number, 131 dB, is the Max SPL with the battery box. The 3rd number is for a XLR connection to a recorder, which your recorder does not have - it is for a more professional type of setup. According to the Tascam web site, the built-in mics on the DR-22WL has a Max SPL of 120 dB. So, by adding the battery box to the SP-CMC-2 external mic setup, you will increase the loudness of sound that you can record without distortion by 11 dB, which is really significant! |

This share is 16 bit 88.2KHz sampling range. There's nothing wrong with that per se, I've just never come across anything in that format before. High sample rate stuff is usually 24 bit, and 96KHz is much more common than 88.2. I guess the original recorder had his reasons. |
oliverd05 01.02.2015 12:55 |
ah wow Georgia what a response :) would love to discuss it further!! if you drop me a PM with your email perhaps? |

P.S- Mark, just to clarify. i have downloaded a file with 2.88GB, that in the text file says "Lineage: Church Audio CA-11 (microphone), MM-CBM-1 (battery box) and Edirol R-09 HR - Audition Mastering - Audacity Flac Flac 24/88 as originally recorded." Is this in 24/88 as stated in the text file or is it 24/96 as you said it was recorded in the first place during this thread? Thanks. |
