Ive read some here dont like the way the forum is going. Now I wonder if someone started a new Queen forum who would join? |

This would be a good forum if it was cleaned up and had some moderation! |

Gregsynth wrote: This would be a good forum if it was cleaned up and had some moderation!Exactly, add some fixes and a modern inteface and is all. But they seriously have to fix the glitches of the web, like screen fading into white without reason while on Queenzone. |
luthorn 19.01.2015 22:12 |
This forum has been around for a such a long time, the new forum would have to be truly amazing. So much filth has been spilled over the years here that everyone has become corrupted by it. I doubt a new forum would be clean for much long. |
Gregsynth 19.01.2015 22:16 |
You make good points luthorn, but I sincerely believe that if you get a dedicated team of 4-5 moderators who take their job seriously, this forum can get all the filth cleaned up! If a new forum was to be started - there would HAVE to be moderation from the infancy to keep it in shape! |

Another aspect, aside from heavy moderation, is that the new forum would have a hard time building up the vigor of what this forum used to be a decade ago. some interesting characters used to post here. Zebonka at his prime created some of the best reads ever. Now, this forum, has become dull due to lack of Queen related subjects worth discussing, or repeats the same topics, or is full of shit asking questions to the tune of 'what are Brian's top 10 hairstyles' |

winterspelt 19.01.2015 23:32 |
Some topics are unavoidable and will be repeated a thousand times. Take into consideration that long time members may know lots of details about the other members and that knowledge is something a new member will ignore, also, topics like the "real meaning of bohemian rhapsody" are unavoidable as there's always someone who read somewhere about it or is genuinely curious about something already discussed. In situations like this, something like a "hey kid, use the search button" may sound rude and some people may never use the same forum again. As for a new forum, as long as "the new forum" is used and have uploads by people with great knowledge (Wizard, Brenski, Gregsynth etc) such forum will attract lots of users, specially if there's a proper Q+PR and Q+AL subforums and some serious mods. |

Gregsynth wrote: It's mainly for the trolls and spam stuff! The problem here is that "troll" is a subjective term. Some people say that WKMahler is a troll because he writes essays on mostly inconsequential observations, I just think that he has a highly unique style of posting. Some people say that Gerry(?) is a troll because he keeps repeating himself and occasionally says silly things, but that's just because he responds in the heat of the moment when others are picking on him. The moderators might honestly be acting in what they consider to be in the best interest of the message board, but in reality they would be promoting their own opinions. It's especially dangerous if they have the same kind of background, or same kind of opinions. Can you imagine if a group of the moderators were e.g. from the trading circles, and decided to censor the Fanthology topics or leaks of their exclusive material? I could certainly see that happening. |

The biggest strength of QZ is his long run over the years and the quality of most of his members. I've been here for 12 years already and is the place to get the latest news, the in-depth knowledge and the leaks (in proper loseless quality). I just hope this goes on for many many years, and I really hope we are not depending on only one person's work. The forum only needs some cleanup regarding spam bots and on a technical level, fix some of the outdated features that does not work anymore. When you replicate this forum in another place , it becomes a different ecosystem. For example I get a whole different interaction with new fans in link . But QZ is special. The oldest fans can give well written answers to the most obscure topics. And there is an expert in almost everything. It's time for us to appreciate the stable plataform we have enjoyed for more than a decade that allow us to have this great communitty. Thanks Richard. Thanks YV. |

I wouldn't want a replica of this forum, or just a new Queen forum that originates from this one. I have been around for quite a long while and I have seen many great moments which are unforgettable without exaggeration. From time to time, I get to remember some with a smile on my face. Trolling, quarrels, skirmishes have long ago become a solid part of this forum, however there has been a significant decrease in this area of communication on this forum recently, as far as I know, since I haven't been visiting the forum as much as I used to. But whether you want it or not, those things will always take place and be around for as long as the forum is alive. I get to remember some of those moments with a smile on my face because they were a hell of a lot of fun. The knowledge you get on this forum is also priceless. |

There are many other users in this forum that dont like Q+AL (or any Queen+ line up) and nobody have a problem with them or their opinion. The main issue with that user and many other users is not their opinions but their ad hominem attacks. There's a huge difference between moderation and censorship. |

Well, I'll be sticking with QZ. It has a few downfalls, sure, but starting from scratch and abandoning everything of significance that still exists on here doesn't seem like the solution. |

It was bound to happen sooner or later considering the amount of traders on this message board, and it would only get worse if these same people would be in charge of moderating the message board... I can already see the new QZ rules in my mind: "Absolutely no links or downloads to "Any poster breaking a personal (and secret) trader's promise to the moderators is immediately banned with no explanations." |
tero! 48531 20.01.2015 23:45 |
winterspelt wrote: There's a huge difference between moderation and censorship. In theory yes, but in practice moderation turns into censorship when you have a group whose personal opinion on anything (even as insignificant as the writing style of WKMahler) is considered the (un)official norm. The last time I was at QOL, it was moderated by three middle-aged British men, whose idea of fandom was keeping complaints to yourself and buying all the official releases... That's a just as scary an image as QZ run by a group of traders! |

Yes it would be worse ... although in reality, the traders already unofficially "moderate" this board through threats and intimidation. But whats even worse ... they call "unbelievers" trolls. LOL. |

Panchgani wrote: Found it. Real Wizard's bigoted generalization about "These Mexicans" and the spirited replies calling him on it ... linkWell, they ARE ASSHOLES! I have met them a few times, Im mexican (I dont know if my english is not good enough but last time I checked, "these mexican" wasnt an offence) and I can tell you that they see themselves almost as if they were more famous as the band itself. I know many of them may be amazing guys (I have met another mexican Queen fans and usually they are nice people) but the guys who run that particular club are assholes. This is my experience and some other people may think that Im wrong. As a side note, I know a few people from the radio, I was told a few years ago by one of the most important radio hosts Polo Alvarez, that a radio station got the rights for the audio recording at the Monterrey gig, but the tapes were lost. Also I was told the TV station that broadcasted the Queen show only were allowed to record the first few songs, so if any video exist, it may be from the audience. Considering there was an overbooking, Im not too sure about the quality of such videos (if they exist) _________________ Now, about the link from the queenlive site: The reason why Queen didnt played in Mexico city was because there was a ban for rock concerts because of the behavior of the people. Stuff like that happened a lot in other parts of Mexico. Johnny or Edgar Winter were once hit by a beer can in the second or third song of their set and the show was cancelled. Mexican rock fans know that the 80s gigs from Mexican band El Tri usually ended in a huge riot, and there's that amazing incident involving a smoke granade in a Slayer show a few years ago... I can tell you that even today, some shows in Mexico city are dangerous for both the band and the people! |

And I'm sure no one in their life has ever referred to you as a douchebag or something the least bit negative; in fact, based on your keen precision of character assassination, you seem to be a stand-up guy who's never said anything remotely controversial.
