Hello ! Just wanted to say that for tonight show there will be 2 streams: http://mixlr.com/aintbroken/ http://mixlr.com/ki55andtell/ Cheers ! Martin |
OwenSmith 18.01.2015 12:25 |
I'll be in block 415 up in the gods later, currently in Pizza Express dragging out dessert and a latte. |
OwenSmith 18.01.2015 12:30 |
If there were active admins on this site I'd ask them to merge the two threads about 18 Jan. But the chances of that happening on this site seem slim. |
winterspelt 18.01.2015 12:49 |
I hope they no longer block the streaming! |
Marknow 18.01.2015 13:22 |
Here we go again. Enjoy the show Owen. |
MercurialFreddie 18.01.2015 14:20 |
One Vision sounded really well that night ! Adam's got accustomed to the track and he sang some of the phrases similarly to the way in Freddie would've sung them. |
Mr.QueenFan 18.01.2015 14:44 |
So far, it has been a fantastic concert. |
MercurialFreddie 18.01.2015 15:12 |
Yeah, The Invisible Man remained in the bass solo. |
kosimodo 18.01.2015 15:17 |
My stream just dropped with bass solo:( I am enjoying the concert a lot. It sounds like everybody is enjoying themselves. And adam is a joy to listen to compared to paul. |
MercurialFreddie 18.01.2015 15:20 |
Well this stream -> link is working perfectly. |
kosimodo 18.01.2015 15:25 |
Using that one! |
MercurialFreddie 18.01.2015 15:28 |
Man.... why someone is ruining the joy of listening to this concert with comments on why Adam is not the right choice for Queen+ project//// |
The King Of Rhye 18.01.2015 15:33 |
I saw that........just started listening to the stream........person must be masochistic, I guess..... |
MercurialFreddie 18.01.2015 15:38 |
Well Adam skipped the "oh your mommy and your daddy gonna blame me till I die" part during TYMD... shame as he would definitely reach the high note. |
Marknow 18.01.2015 16:14 |
Best stream EVER, amazing quality. |
kosimodo 18.01.2015 16:16 |
A very good concert! What a joy:) |

This is specifically for Gerry (and possibly Holly). You don't have to like AL but it is not only the Glamberts who love him. He is getting excellent reviews: On Saturday night, 95 minutes after Stars In Their Eyes showed precisely how not to impersonate a well-loved performer, Adam Lambert takes to the stage to stand in for Freddie Mercury and act as frontman for Queen. Lambert, resplendent in the kind of leathers that Judas Priest’s Rob Halford used to wear bombing round Birmingham, was clearly made for this moment. He may be sporting the finest Cuban heels to strut on the O2 stage since Bruno Mars came here in 2013 but Lambert has a vocal range, a stage presence and a sense of the theatrical that is second to none. The key is that Lambert makes it clear very early on that this is not an impersonation of the still mourned Mercury. “I love him as much as you love him,” he tells the crowd. “My goal is to celebrate the amazing music of Queen and bring you back to why you liked them in the first place.” This he succeeds wholly in doing, not least because the band he’s fronting is still so strong. Alighting on a stage the shape of a giant Q, both Roger Taylor (initially in shades) and his son Rufus sit behind full drum kits, with Brian May heading out front (grey mullet occasionally blowing in the breeze). As expected, the reclusive bassist John Deacon isn’t present but a shot of him on the giant screens brings loud applause. The set list is flawless, as one might expect from a band who have crafted some of the finest rock songs of the 20th Century. What’s intriguing is the presence of Lambert seems to have give the tracks a fresh energy - ‘I Want It All’ is simply colossal, ‘One Vision’ extraordinary and Lambert’s exhortation to “all you fat ass bitches” somehow works during ‘Fat Bottom Girls’. The only glaring omission comes in the form of ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ getting skipped over. But as Lambert says himself, ‘You know what the problem is with this band? Too many hits!” Queen truly know how to put on a show. Ever track feels like a finale - with huge solos, near-operatic vocals and pomp set to 11. There is an intergenerational drum battle, a gold glitter drop, a mirror ball descends for ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’, lasers comb the the entire O2 at one point and and (bizarrely) footage of Metropolis during a performance of 'Radio Gaga' (it makes more sense given it was a soundtrack to Mercury’s ‘Love Kills’). At one point May straps a GoPro onto his guitar, both so that everyone can check out his playing but also so that he can point it towards the audience and capture the O2’s reaction to him rattling through ‘Stone Cold Crazy’. The screens behind May during ‘Last Horizon’ will, depending on your persective, either recall the timeless search for man’s true knowledge of the cosmos or remind you of a Windows’ 97 screensaver. The band seem genuinely moved and certainly see to enjoy themselves. Naturally their late bandmate never feels far away. When May plays a solo of ‘Love Of My Life’ he talks about how much he missed Mercury. “There was this man who used to sit behind me…” he says thoughtfully. “It makes me happy to sing his songs really”. Nothing is taken for granted. At times footage of Mercury accompanies the action, allowing him to contribute 24 years after leaving the stage. This is used most effectively on ‘Days Of Our Lives’ where Taylor takes the mic and performs a gutsy vocal, accompanied by vintage shots of the band mugging to the camera. This isn’t a mawkish tribute, this is a real, vibrant rock show. What's interesting is Lambert at times seems even camper than Mercury ever was - not least when he seems to have borrowed part of his costume from Macho Man Randy Savage. It feels strange to say it but it thankfully it shows how far we’ve come that a man can lick a microphone, reclining on a chaise longe, raise one Cara Delevigne-esque eyebrow and pause during 'Killer Queen' after delivering ‘Guaranteed to blow your...’. The crowd clearly love it. When Lambert chugs from a gold champagne bottle and spits it into the air, he addresses the drenched front row. “Did I get you wet lady? Rock'n'roll that's what I am supposed to do! It’s like the SeaWorld show up here.” The only criticism? Lambert’s English accent is as horrible as he says it is. The evening as a whole is a spectacular celebration, one of the best concerts this writer has ever experienced at the O2. Lambert, a man who decided to enter American Idol while out of his mind on mushrooms at Burning Man has not only the theatricality and the sheer vocal chops but also the assured confidence to front a band like Queen. Sure, at times the outfits make it feel like ‘Tom Of Finland Sings the Hits Of Top Gear’ - but there is so much genuine passion, affection and skill involved that it’s impossible to dislike. They duck 'Bohemian Rhapsody' a bit - choosing to leave sections to the video - but it all so moving that one can’t complain. It is intended as the highest compliment that this is second only to seeing Mercury in his prime. |

Better performance than last night. Very enjoyable. Marknow, can you PM as I've got most of the show on video. From the upper tier, but w nicely supplement any close-ups/fill any gaps. |
The King Of Rhye 18.01.2015 18:35 |
that is a nice review, someonewholikesadam! Two complaints though: Brian's hair is NOT a mullet, and there's no such thing as Windows 97! LOL.......that was a funny line though..... |
someonewholikesadam 18.01.2015 19:12 |
He's so goofy. That's one of the reasons I love him. And he can be a little free with F bomb. But that's just Adam. No filter. |

No mistakes from Brian tonight that I noticed. I was in block 415 tonight upper tier, and any time there are lasers or light beams towards the crowd or the roof they looked much better from up here because you could see them properly. So marknow, any time there are lights or lasers out from the stage towards the crowd or roof, please try to include some footage from the upper tier to show it properly. |

Anyone actually capturing these streams? Do I need to have the full software installed in my PC to hear the shows WITHOUT the constant "pinging" whenever some idiot posts a comment? |
OwenSmith 18.01.2015 19:20 |
By the way someonewholikesadam, they used Metropolis footage during Radio GaGa because it was used in the video for Radio GaGa. And in Bohemian Rhapsody they always go off stage for the "a cappella" section in the middle, Queen have never done that live (the Queen Extravanganza did in early tours when there were enough of them to sing it). |

Comparison of Saturday 17th Jan 2015 vs. Sunday 18th Jan from my experience. Saturday: Block 111 Row F - technically "VIP" but that only means a seat low down near the stage. Sunday: Block 415 Row M - halfway up the upper tier in the gods I enjoyed the first half of the show more on Saturday, and the second half more on Sunday. Let's see if I can explain why. Saturday sound quality was better. There appeared to be repeater speakers hung from the ceiling further back for the upper tier, but I'm not convinced they were working on Sunday. The sound was a bit "mono" all towards the front of me where the stage was on Sunday, whereas on Saturday lower down the sound was from all around pretty much. Crowd around me on Saturday was better, stood up and singing plus waving arms around most of the show. On Sunday everyone up in the 400s was sat down including me. However, when sat down your feet are level with the shoulders of the person in front of you that's how steep the raking in the 400s is, and there is no barrier in front of you. If you stand up and trip forward, you'll fall about three rows forwards and what seems like fifteen feet down so you feel rather exposed. I stood up for the applause at the end and my word I felt exposed up there. The light show was better for me on Sunday. Where I was on Saturday I was side on to a lot of the laser beams and light beams from the giant Q and couldn't see what it was doing. On Sunday the light show was gloriously laid out below me and I could see all of it. This came into it's own from about half way through, which is why I probably started enjoying the Sunday show more then. On Saturday I could see band members easily with my own eyes, the big monitors were optional or for checking which screws on the Red Special look rusty. On Sunday I couldn't really make the band members out without the large monitors, and these sometimes showed black and white or special effects or other crap when I was trying to watch the band. The video footage of old times with Freddie and John (much cheering for John both nights) were fine, but why show the current band in black and white or distorted? We're trying to watch the show on those big monitors, you damned fool directors! Saturday they played great. Sunday they played even better. I'd have been entirely happy with either performance. I'd have preferred a few older numbers in the set list and I would much have preferred Now I'm Here to open rather than One Vision, but that appears to be this tour. Save Me didn't do much for me, I've never really liked the song and mid era Queen is my least favourite. It did really demonstrate how well Adam can sing soft and sweet, but there are plenty of early era songs they could have used for that. I rather missed I'm In Love With My Car, I love the way Roger sings that while playing the drums. Maybe he's not up to it any more, a lot of both shows looked quite an effort for him. Brian looked effortless and happy throughout both nights, great to see him smiling so much. I love Brian's new "F hole" Red Special style guitar he uses for the start of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, it's got such an acoustic sweet sound. The real Red Special was superb both nights, it's sounding great. Brian's selfie stick pan round on the B stage was a GoPro on Saturday, and a stereoscopic pair of cameras on Sunday which got quite a cheer. Guitar cam on the black Guyton (current Drop D tuning guitar) for Fat Bottomed Girls worked fine both nights, it amazes me how much some of those strings move around. I guess that's partly due to the Red Special design having a short neck, plus the camera is in use for Drop D tuning only. Adam was great both nights. Having seen him New Year's Eve I had already bought into him being more than up to the task. He's improved immensely since the 2012 shows, I have bootleg videos of some of those. But what was new to me was how he worked the crowd, he really can get them with him just as well as Freddie did (and I was there and exeperienced Freddie live, twice). No set list difference between the two nights, so much for surprises. The only differences were Brian's selfie stick (see above) and the "sing along with Adam" section. On Saturday the sing along was the entire audience. On Sunday it was much better, he split it into left section, right section and centre section, and then had the men and then women in each section singing seperately (apparently we men have to sing the low notes from our balls). Great stuff. I think I've rambled enough. |

This is my first post, so be gentle with me! I saw the show last night and I can barely speak about how I feel, how emotional and extraordinary it was. Btw, setlist was 1 song different - Don't Stop Me Now not played on Sat. I guess I'm really here to ask about the etiquette re ticketing - I need to go to Wembley. This can't be the only time I see them. I also, for some reason, feel the need to say that I'm a Queen fan of some 25 of my 38 years - I've just never been active online before. So I'm not some fly by night greatest hits owning newbie ;-) I wore my tribute concert shirt to the show last night, even! Frankly, life is complete anyway because Brian favourited a Tweet of mine last night! With love to all... Liz |

Yes, May's strings do vibrate a lot - partly because of the Red Special's short neck, but also because of the thin strings Brian is known to use. Think he uses 0.09 - 0.42 these days, but they used to be 0.08's if I'm not mistaken. Which is why he often sounded quite sharp when he did E-string riffs slightly too enthusiastically back in the 70's, like in Son and Daughter. He was also known for breaking strings quite frequently, which is why he moved to 0.09 strings. |

I forgot to say, after the lady from Los Angeles saturday night, on sunday I was next to a french canadian lady from Montreal. She'd seen Q+PR a few times, and she'd seen the North American tour with Adam Lambert three times (twice in Montreal), and had still flown over to the UK for a week specifically to see this show. |
OwenSmith 19.01.2015 06:33 |
Thanks LizTray, I guess I was enjoying myself too much to notice that Don't Stop Me Now hadn't been played on Saturday when it came on Sunday. I'll be looking to download audio bootlegs and audio plus multicam video of both nights, that will make things clearer. |

I hope to do good multicams of both London shows, seems there is plenty of footage about, just need a week to collect it all. I have two College assignments due this week too, which I have yet to start! :P |

I guess that's partly due to the Red Special design having a short neck, plus the camera is in use for Drop D tuning .The strings on the RS do move around quite a bit, being a relatively short 24 inch scale length. The extra inch on say a PRS or inch and a quarter on a Strat or Tele adds up to a bit more tension in the tuned strings. Of course the E droped down to D also adds to the effect. I believe Mr Wizzard is right, Ron Wood may have been the first to do the fret board camera, although for some reason I have it in my mind that Eddie Van Halen also did it. |

That's cool, Owen. Still a pretty fantastic setlist all told. Of course, we could all pick our own. I'd go mad for obscurities all night but I understand the big hits need to come out at arena shows like that one. I had a good cry a few times, I must admit, it was such an emotional night. I can't have it be the only one but Twitter is full to bursting with people wanting Wembley spares. My ticket karma is pretty decent so I live in hope! |
