Did any of you see the final ever episode of 'Miranda' the other day???? If you did…. you poor poor bugger! I did too and I'm still recovering from the shock of it. OMG! It was absolutely shockingly and appallingly bad! I sat and watched it because I've heard some people say how funny it is, and yet every trailer I've ever seen only ever shows hapless Miranda falling over, or having her skirt ripped off by a departing taxi, or falling over again, or looking into camera and saying something blatantly predictable and devoid of humour - ALL of which has been done before very very much better than this person. I honestly and truly have NEVER EVER seen a so-called comedy that's so fundamentally unfunny. My partner said exactly the same. The last episode was so cringeful it left me incredulous and actually in discomfort - and I'm not exaggerating. Awful, stupid, predictable, farcical nonsense in which even the actors seemed to cringe at the painful lines they had to deliver in the name of comic gold - which was closer to FARSICAL BROWN! Does anyone on this planet, honestly, ever laugh at this programme? Titter, even? Surely no-one other than Miranda and Miranda's mum laughs out loud at anything in this. Some people are just funny. They have funny bones. They ooze comedy and one cannot help but find them endearing. Miranda Hart, bless her - because she clearly tries very hard - is simply not one of them. She doesn't look funny, move or gesture in any kind of amusing way, and she certainly does not say or write anything funny. Sorry, but she simply isn't comically amusing. Not remotely. Harold Shipman is funnier than Miranda, and frankly I'd rather watch a documentary conceived by him. And POOR POOR Patricia Hodge. She's a quality actress. Why on earth is she doing this contemptuous crap? She seems to get more rubbishy unamusing lines than anyone else - and that's saying something! Why has Miranda singled her out in this way? She must secretly hate her, or else genuinely believe that her script is funny. I do not believe the latter can be so! I really enjoyed Miranda in that lovely BBC midwifery drama. She was great. But, very very very very obviously she didn't write that. The writing of Miranda is shocking and lacking in every way, and this latest episode genuinely stunned me to the core with its shitliness (technical filmy term) and general overall bollocksness of script!!!! I seriously defy YOU to watch the last episode of Miranda and LAUGH one single time. F**k my old boots! I'm so incensed by this insulting drivel that was a good deal less funny than syphilis, that I felt compelled to spew out my outrage here. Perhaps Miranda was only given 4 minutes to write the episode, for some reason. That might explain it. What did you make of it? Sitcom? Shitcom is surely nearer the truth! Ta GB |

I am in TOTAL agreement with GB regarding this hype that Miranda throws up. I can not bear to watch a minute of it!! I try to be open-minded but it is utter bollocks. My wife and I both wonder if WE are in the wrong? NO!!!! Just what is funny about it? If someone could explain, then I may try to think along those lines BUT I really doubt it. Sarah Millican, Michael fucking MacIntyre and that shite Mrs Browns Boys. I've tried but I get angry and have to switch it over. Kinda like Oasis. I tried listening but I just don't get it?? I am ashamed to be British. |

As a Dutchman, I really laughed out loud when I saw Miranda her Christmas episode. I really enjoy English humor, as The Royle Family, Fools and Horse, One Foot in The Grave, the connection with Queen. The UK is fully loaded with so much good stuff ;-) Tom |

From the sounds of it, I'm hoping this doesn't come to US Netflix. Then again, I've been spoiled by quality British programming like Black Mirror – just started it last night and already wildly impressed. |

It's a bit of slapstick pantomime humour, none of it is really that funny, and it's pretty hammed up. Tom Ellis isn't exactly Sir John Gielgud either. Perhaps they're playing bass in Queen now? That's the connection? ;-) |
mooghead 06.01.2015 16:23 |
The first series of Miranda was ok, it was something different and a lot was made of 'breaking down the fourth wall', ie. talking into the camera as a kind of narration. Every single episode was just a variation on the last though and it got boring very quickly. If you want REAL shit then watch the turgid, god awful Mrs Browns Boys. |
winterspelt 06.01.2015 16:39 |
Well, I have watched a few episodes in Mexico and I find it funny, not the best show ever, but it tends to make me smile from time to time. Still, what do this have to do with Queen? |
gooddrills 06.01.2015 17:43 |
I'm so pleased a couple of you mentioned Mrs Browns Boys, I hate it with a passion. Nothing has ever annoyed me quite so much. It's like really bad 80's panto material and I just don't get the appeal? I'm from the UK originally and I'm aware of how big it is there, but it's also huge in New Zealand. It is easily the worst thing to come out of the UK in decades, utter shite. If I were trying to extract information from a terrorist I would play them this on a big screen, they would be spilling the beans in no time. Jesus, I'm getting wound up just typing about it! Is this thread relevant to Queen? Not that I can see, but it's a damn site more interesting than most of the crap that gets posted on here of late. Miranda, used to hate her, now I quite like her thanks to my mrs making me watch her. Plus kiwi TV is really bad and the only good stuff to watch is produced outside of NZ. Fuck you Mrs Brown |

gooddrills wrote Miranda, used to hate her, now I quite like her thanks to my mrs making me watch her. Plus kiwi TV is really bad and the only good stuff to watch is produced outside of NZ. Hey man Kiwi tv is not that bad... esp if your compare it with Aussie tv!! There is a lot of crap especially from the reality tv side of things but majority of that crap is from out of NZ.. Locally produced tv programs esp the likes of the dramas, docos and comedy tv is not bad at all, some of it is of some high class and some shows have had some surprisingly good hits outside of these shores.. Outrageous fortune was a great show done on a shoe string budget and had some great reviews from overseas viewers who had no idea what the humor was about in regards to West Auckland being a predominantly white trash "bogan" area of Auckland.. Flight of the Conchords was a huge hit in the US NZ esp in regards to humor is very quick witted, most part a dry sense of humor and for the most part.. our shows are done on a very limited budget which clearly shows.. |
