They're not even bootlegs.
It's a guy in his basement taking good quality footage, decreasing the quality, cropping it to 16:9, adding a pretty menu, burning it to DVD-R and selling it. If only he used his graphic and web design skills for something useful..
Avoid, avoid, AVOID.
I don't totally agree with The Real Wizard. I'll explain why.
Snowproducciones sells his DVD at a very, very low price.
His DVDs have a printed cover, and the printed DVD.
They SEEM professional, and you know, some footages are really old.
I bought something I have on VHS, like Rare Live, Champions of the world, Magic Years, Live in Budapest and I think it's a good way to have a "backup" of the good old VHS.
In my opinion it's a good deal, between price and quality.
Obviously it's not official, it's not the best product ever but a few dollars for this are worth.
Bullshit.
There are so many other channels from which to get every one of these videos, and more, for zero cost, and without the quality reduction.
Trading and downloading old videos is one thing, but to have a website where you sell it - it is deplorable.

Really? Where can I get the Houston with this sound quality? Every other version I've head are in severe lack of bass response.

The Snow guy doesn't magically have a source that nobody else has. He just did a bit of EQing. It's the same source that's been out for ages now.
Any number of people could do the same job with what's available here - and they'll put it up here for free.
So my point stands.
Is it so strange that people are willing to pay a few bucks for a physical DVD with remastered (well, EQ-ed) sound and with printed covers? Sure, a number of people on here could do the same. But they haven't.
I bought a lot of Snow DVDs before the bulk of the shows were made available here (or at least before I had the means to download them).
Hit and miss, really.
Yes, you get the excellent menus, printed discs and good covers - but the CONTENT is not all that great. There's a LOT of compression, loss of quality, pixelation, really darkened footage, cropping etc.
Some of his DVDs are good, but only some. For the rest, it's like he took decent quality footage and fucked it up.
The ones that are particularly horrendous are: Japan '75, Hyde Park '76, Houston '77, Paris '79, Argentina '81, "Hot Space" Box, Rare Videos Collection (1&2).
The ones that I found better were: Earls Court '77, Hammersmith '75 (with the 2009 broadcast footage), Japan '82. But, of course, they can ALL be found here. And Ale does better artwork.

is this so horrendous? link
this version of tokyo 79 looks better than the one shared here....
You like that colorful blobs? And the horrible treble? I must check the Chief Mouse cleanup but I think it looked better. Of course that's subjective but at least I prefer small amount of noise but full detail, this one looks "too clean" for me

I never mentioned Tokyo '79, so I don't see the point you're making, Luca?
But since we're talking about it, the Chief Mouse version is superior to that one clip you've posted above. That's what Snow does - uses really good YT videos to reel you in, and then hits you with pure crap.

oh sorry, read error has occurred!

I had completely forgotten the existence of the Chief's version because I lost it in a HD crash... I try to look for a link to that version so I can compare with the Snow's version

Nor should they. Unreleased music should not come with a price tag in the digital age.
We have internet connections, places like Queenzone and The Traders' Den, DVD burners, shops with empty DVD cases, jpg images, and Walmart that can print out a sheet of paper for 30 cents.
Sorry man. I'm a reasonable guy and am always looking for ways to meet people half way, but there just is no half way here for me.
Equalizing - adjusting the higher and lower frequencies in the sound (treble, mid, bass).
If you're good enough at it, you can make it sound like it's a new source recording (which is what this snake oil salesman is trying to do). But if you have any experience in audio engineering, you're a bit more skeptical.

Paying $15 for a pirate DVD and $20 for shipping is definitely not a good deal for me :(
