I'm sure there are a lot of people like me, joining the forum and trying hard to find out what songs the acronyms are referring to. Please take a few seconds and write the full name of the songs. Please everyone! Don't make it hard for the others to understand what song you are talking about. |

Oh, FFS, I'm LMAO at this. FYI, IGSM writing this. DTSH, just PTG a bit, and they will come second nature to you in a F (aah-aah) |
brunogorski 30.12.2014 19:14 |
You doesn't need to write the complete name, but just a small part of it would world. Boh Rhap. Another One. GaGa. Show Go On. Pressure. ANYTHING!!! Anything. Sometimes I really get confused and mad trying to understand what on the Earth OEKCOAHE means. :| |
winterspelt 30.12.2014 20:47 |
Yeah, I kind of agree, sometimes I spend more time trying to understand all acronyms, at the same time, I understand why people use them. In my case, I try to use them only in the most popular songs (rock you, champions, etc) |
BETA215 31.12.2014 00:32 |
And if we use this kind of acronyms? You can say ITLapOTG, TShowMGO, SWAFoolIB, I'mGSMad, TATDaysOOLives, TMarchOTBQ or LilyOTV. It's easier to identify them, and easier than write the full name. Everybody wins. |
ili 31.12.2014 00:52 |
Beta 215 and Brugonorski; your suggestions are good enough I think. the important thing is to easily understand what is written. thanks for the friendly approach. |

That's almost it, Beta! :) I can relate to the difficulties with acronyms perfectly. As a non-native English speaker, even being a HUGE fan since 1980, it may be hard to understand some posts. I don't think much can be done, anyway, as this is the way many of the fans prefer to communicate. In fact, using smartphones for posting tends to increase the use of abbreviations and acronyms. BEST REGARDS, ;) Ogre- |

BEST REGARDS, ;) Ogre- YES! It's a bitch when you have to guess what other people are trying to say. Sometimes, non-native english speakers like you and me, fall in what I tried to simulate and it's frustrating. You feel the needs to hit a keyboard in the person's face. And like you said, there's nothing to do. Only search in the web when you find one of those odd words, and learn them. I still don't know what ROFL means, and I'm trying to memorize it. Best regards Ogre! ;) |

I had some fun with my original response, but perhaps it was a bit harsh. Here's an alphabetical list of Queen-related tracks: link and popular acronyms link Indeed, some Queen ones make me scratch my head at first glance. ITLOTGR, whereas 'Lap' or 'Gods..revisited' is instantly recognizeable. As for BR: occasionally used in a thread when discussing the particular track, or the LP it's from (since there are three). But most will generally do BRock, BRace, or BRhap. TMBMTLTT: indeed, '..More To Life' is easier. TATDOOL and LMLTNT: we're all used to them by now. You'll get the hang of it eventually. BR, JG |
Stelios 31.12.2014 10:44 |

matt z 31.12.2014 21:38 |
For purposes of writing and reference it's very practical. I don't see the big deal. Now, if someone were to be speaking about a song and say aloud: "Ai Double u, tee bee eff" THEN you'd have a fucking c#nt. I saw a sportscaster today refer to FIELD GOAL ATTEMPTS as EFF GEE AYS .... which really bothered me. It's not only inaccurate reporting, It's also lazy. |
The King Of Rhye 31.12.2014 22:15 |
matt z wrote: I saw a sportscaster today refer to FIELD GOAL ATTEMPTS as EFF GEE AYS .... which really bothered me. It's not only inaccurate reporting, It's also lazy. How's that inaccurate? Field goal attempts = FGAs... Don't ever watch a baseball game, if you want to avoid talk like that! With all the RBIs and ERAs, and OPSs and WAR (thats a newer one!) I'll just call a TO on this conversation, anyway....... |
matt z 01.01.2015 05:19 |
Yes. Well not inaccurate wholly. I should have never given that inch. It's just absurd. He's TALKING about it. .. not WRITING or TYPING it out (carpal tunnel) It's ABSURD to call it an EFF GEE AY instead of a field goal attempt. RBI (*as RIBBEE) is more acceptable and not a part of idiocy. Much like KAY-OH is in boxing. But you don't call base on balls as BEE OH BEE... you don't call lead of home run as LEEHERR.. There's an approximation that does the scene justice and then there's a stretching that's just plain embarrassing. If I were to discuss with you THE FAIRY FELLER'S MASTER STROKE and instead said TEE EFF EFF EM ESS I'd look like a plain goddamned fool. It's ABSURD beyond reason when the word is condensed for brevity in typing but not ENNUNCIATED in SPEECH. HUGE difference. "There were three TO'S .... TERRELL OWENSES? TIME OUTS? TURN OVERS? in SPEECH it's beyond absurd and painstakingly "ttbh" (TRYING TO BE HIP) It's debased grandiose BULLSHIT when it's done that way. However when it's merely TYPED that way it's FINE. .. The BREVITY was a convention of statisticians and baseball cards. It fit the game programs (9 innings with check boxes; cards had limited Type space) It'd be an absolute PUNCH- ABLE POS to SAY aloud. . "Have you heard Queen's ESS AY ESS ESS DEE TEE TEE ESS I ENN AYCHE you have no argument here. Don't try to defend it. It's ABSURD when spoken. For type it's condensed and very very PRACTICAL. Sorry for non native English speakers. But KILLER QUEEN isSTILL referred to as KILLER QUEEN and NOT "REINA ASESINA"..... so HUMBUG to your idiotic dissension. |
The King Of Rhye 01.01.2015 07:42 |
Ouch! Why dont you tell us how you really feel about that topic..............LOL I guess you've got a few points there, I don't entirely disagree with you!........."FGA's" is one you dont really hear often, anyway..........simpler to say 'shots'! Your last line there reminded me........when I ripped all my Queen CDs to my mp3 player, for some reason on one or two of the albums it lists the artist as "Orchestra Regina".....lol |
BETA215 01.01.2015 07:53 |
matt z, I'm agree with your comment (excepting for the longevity and the way you express). But I don't understand your last paragraph. That have something to do with this topic? If we want to call Killer Queen "La Reina Asesina" with our friends, I don't think there's a problem in our minds. |

Try to figure them out. It's good for your brain to offer it a challenge, even a minor one like this. |
matt z 02.01.2015 17:53 |
Well, Yeah there's nothing wrong with referencing KILLER QUEEN as REINA ASESINA as long as the song is commonly referred to as such. Problem is out isn't. Probably not even in the Spanish community. The song has lyrics referring to it's title. REINA ASESINA would be shortened into RA, which would be even MORE confusing. Yes. I know I need an editor. It's been a long time since I've written for brevity and content. My apologies. |
