Part 2 of an interview conducted by Nick from queenonline has been put on itunes. I listened to it and it's really interesting to hear how Greg mentions the fact they have a ton of material from Live Killers and that he's eager to start working on a box from that tour. I got the impression they want to release this Live Killers box next (year??). This 1979 box - when done right - could be absolutely mindblowing. It's no secret they recorded lots of European 1979 shows (19 in total has been said) but it looks like they also have some great Japanese audio/footage. What is even more interesting is the fact that the utterly brilliant Hammersmith Odeo show from late 1979 - a fitting end to the seventies and the no-moustache era - was filmed. This show NEEDS an official release more than any other Queen concert imo. Still, there seems to be more... A couple of years ago a guy posted a list of shows recorded in 1979 and 9 Crazy Tour shows were included in that list (also the mindblowing Newcastle 1979 show...). In total there should be something of about 30 shows in the archives. What is in your opinion the best they can make out of this? One could argue that there's even too much stuff. And, how would you rate the Live Killers shows in comparison to the Crazy tour shows?? In my opinion many Live Killers shows have Brian May at the absolute hight of his powers and this should be heard (Rotterdam second night or last Paris night are prime examples), on the other hand it is obvious Freddie was not in top shape but... the energy of several of those shows make up for it. The Crazy Tour has Freddie better than ever and these shows - Freddie's very best - should be made public for everyone to enjoy. There's great potential so I'm really hopeful. I just hope we get to hear a nice percentage of what exists in the archives and I hope the Crazy tour gets the attention it deserves. |

They should put it on the youtube channel instead of forcing people to download software they don't want. (Itunes - they can shove it) |

I'd like at least 1 show per tour released... But I dont know if that's possible due to the video quality. If that's not possible we'll have to settle with a boxset. Still, hoping for a Paris and a Hammersmith release! |

Does it means that we will have a Live Killers tour boxset in 2015? |

I really hope Hammy 79 gets a full release rather than just having snippets included on a late 70s 'rare live' type compilation... |

I love Queen very much. But I really hope there's more besides live performances. Although, Im looking forward to these new releases. We just got one new song, but I really hope Greg will investigate some new demos or unheard almost unfinished songs for a new kind of album. A combination of both would sound perfect to me :-) |

People - stop hoping for more unreleased studio material. Since they did Made In Heaven (almost 20 years), ONE new song with Freddie vocals has emerged. One. Of everything else that exists - if it was good enough, it would have come out by now. On the other hand - the archive is full of concert material from 1974-79 that we haven't seen. This is what is going to be released over the next few years. |

Hammersith should be in a package with only all three shows. '75, 79', and 2012. |

You like many of us gave the ghost up a long while, but don't be so heartless to deny other fans that hope, just because you know better or have grown weary over the years being let down. Think of the anticipation you used to get receiving acetates or bootlegs pre-torrents, of hearing about MIH, the thrill of the Freddie Box Set. These younger fans don't get that feeling too often so why deny them the hope? Some of you older heads have grown very cynical over the years, i remember when you used to enjoy discussing Queen and not just spitting sarcasm at newbies. You've become very pragmatic and predictable. This site used to be the best fan site there was, back when it provided streams of old concerts (before torrents), when you had to bide your time to get into the old HUB and when guys like you showed some passion for the band. Sorry for hijacking this thread with a mad rant. i have the utmost respect for you PG, but you need to lighten up a bit. |
