So sometime back in late summer (August probably) I messed with NIH video from the Absolute Greatest online stream. I didn't really think it's worth to touch it so I forgot about it. Today Nitroboy told me it would be a good idea to do something with it and I remembered I had already done some encodes months ago. So, since I had some spare time I decided I'd finish it off, remove the logo from the Japanese source (I didn't use the one I shared here a long time ago since now I can do better) and I made the Japanese source look almost the same in colours as the online stream. So I merged them together. I wish I could have taken more footage from the Japanese source which is superior due to better compression compared to the online source, but unfortunately most of the time there are some Japanese texts on screen, so I only used the parts where they are not present, which is approximately 1 minute in total. Also, I added Pittrek's audio from "1979-12-26; London (Pitrek Best Of The Best)" compilation as the first audio track and the original Absolute Greatest online audio stream as the 2nd track. Choose which one you prefer. While it's true that I lost a ton of detail, I also lost a ton of bad pixels :) It still doesn't look pretty in motion though (it looks smeared out in places), but unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about that :( I wouldn't claim this is a definitive version, but a good alternative perhaps yes. You can always go back to the old VHS source if you want :) https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/0fed/o1pqtoakbpeidk37g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/ff0d/1wn0ko8npgh46gg7g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/adbf/z5g4j9tnmjo8l5i7g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/dc6e/3nwlgb4cn0b28fj7g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> So here's my small early Christmas present for you :-) https://mega.co.nz/#!CcV0hbpD!uQyxFI6QtATusUjmVooI6_KwQqIkfadA64kubWYnRBc Merry Christmas! |

Brilliant! You could work for Queen - clean Hammersmith 79 up for release. :) |
Nitroboy 22.12.2014 16:01 |
Thanks, and I believe that in the slower and darker shots (like Freddie's improv with the audience), it looks absolutely perfect. |

I downloaded all the Absolute Greatest Hits bonus videos at the time from QOL. At that time, I used realplayer download and the files were .flv files. It was shared here at that time but the thread was deleted due to it being official. If there is interest, I can upload all the 13 videos again in a new thread. Just bear in mind they are .flv files. |
The Real Wizard 22.12.2014 22:46 |
Man, that's just awesome. Great clean up job. I'd kill to see the whole show in this quality. It'd rival the Rainbow DVD for sure. |

Can you search the ones uploaded in QueenHub, and see if your videos have the same quality? |

Apparently they have found the multi track in recent years so... Maybe the next project. I really do hope so because there's no video of Freddie in better voice than Hammy '79. In a way they have too much stuff from 1979 :-) Should they include Hammy in "the" Live Killers box?? It's a different tour... |

Fantastic job, this definitely deserves a stand alone release and if they have found the multi track then bring it on, always loved this show and this era of the band! |

Unfortunately it won't play on my phone. Downloaded it from mega but won't play. Is it on YouTube anywhere. Love this concert and would love to see this new edit. |

Is there no chance you can play this on computer? Perhaps you can somehow change the file extension from MKV to MP4 so that your phone would recognize it? Anyway, I did upload this on youtube but a lot of quality has gone due to youtube compression. . |
Oscar J 23.12.2014 08:59 |
Why don't you upload it in HD? Would make Youtube compress it less. |

Oscar J wrote: Why don't you upload it in HD? Would make Youtube compress it less. True, but I can't be bothered doing another conversion just for youtube. Plus I already uploaded it. |

Chief, sorry if this is a stupid suggestion... What about doing a clean-up of Pitrrek's DVD (Hammy 79)? |

DepeX wrote: Chief, sorry if this is a stupid suggestion... What about doing a clean-up of Pitrrek's DVD (Hammy 79)? It's not a stupid question. But I just don't think it's worth it. It's mainly that old VHS source which can hardly be improved. Just not worth my time. What Pittrek did is good already :-) |
DepeX 23.12.2014 10:15 |
Yeah, surely Pittrek has done a great work. Cheers mate! |
jondickens1 23.12.2014 11:29 |
This is stunning and so hope this concert gets an official release. Freddie's on fire and so are the rest of the boys. Is it true the master reels have been found? This coupled with Hammy 75 truly would be an epic box set and dare I say it even better than The Rainbow. Love Mustapha in the 79 gig. My favourite live track. |

jondickens1 wrote: Is it true the master reels have been found? If you are talking about video, the source that they used for streaming these Absolute Greatest videos (NIH, IILWMC) looks awesome. I can very clearly imagine how it would look if it wasn't downsized and compressed beyond belief :-) It would probably look even better than Rainbow. |

Thank you Chief for the video cleaning up. Merry belated Christmas, and happy Labour Day May 1st ^^ If the tape is better than Rainbow, and they plan to release it, then I can die happily now :D |
Mr.QueenFan 30.04.2015 17:47 |
I've just checked this video and it's superb! Great work once again ChiefMouse. You really have a wonderful talent, and i'm glad that you share it with the Queen community. What you do to Queen videos is just priceless. Freddie was on the top of his game, and the band was inspired. I hope to see a proper release of this concert in the future. Thanks again. |

I have watched this video over and over again the last couple of days. Great work Chief Mouse. And what a live performance this was! I want a box set or something with stuff from 1979. Or even a stand alone release. |
