With all the drugs he took back in the day, it's amazing his body made it this far.
It's sad to think that all of these guys are going to be dead in about 20 years.
Fun fact - on the studio version of the Beatles cover, it's Jimmy Page on guitar. His 1960s session CV is a mile long.

Another fun fact - it was Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys who started the idea of You Are So Beautiful, together with Billy Preston. He wasn't credited though. Instead, he gave the song away as a gift. Dennis was a great and above all humble man. link
He often sang it live.
Nice info regarding Denis Wilson. Joe did surround himself with some awesome talent, with the likes of Leon Russell, Alan White, etc
For fun, it's a shame that Saturday Night Live are such dicks and don't allow clips of their shows. The duet with John Belushi was classic (though one minute is available) link
Travelled up to NYC last week, and listened to the Party at the Palace for the first time in eons. Didn't know there was a video of him with Brian and Phil Collins performing 'With A Little Help From My Friends' (footage sadly directed by a squirrel) link
Cocker was a rarity in that he could do a Beatle cover, make it his own, and that I extremely enjoyed.

Oh man, that's awesome. link
^ looks like they've continued the tradition to this very day.
It was very sad, and unpleasantly surprising, to hear of Joe Cocker's passing, but he leaves behind a body of works so immense and, with few exceptions, of such high quality that I don't doubt he'll be remembered and listened to for at the very least decades to come.
I can't really put my finger on why, but this one has always really appealed to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0fW8q6PrgM
I think it was written by Jeff Lynne.

The Letter, by Joe Cocker, featuring (as someone pointed out here before) some really funky bass lines by John.

That's great.
This is my all time favourite performance from Cocker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHrlWPjfxpc
Also featuring a brilliant piano solo that occasionally sounds as if it was played with boxing gloves.
link (and it goes on for about another thousand characters that don't word wrap on this forum) link
^ what the two links in this thread actually link to.
Yet another flaw to add to the pile. If this place isn't being maintained, how does it manage to get even worse ?
