What do you say about Freddies stamina on videospot Headlong. When was that recorded and when as These Are The Days Of Our Lives was recorded I mean interval and just video. Cos Freddie has high spirit in Headlong but on TATDOOL he was so down.. How many months or days are those two videos intervaly recorded ,I mean the gap betwen those two video s. Hope you understand my english ;) |

Remember the video filmed between those videos, I'm Going Slightly Mad. Supposedly, Headlong was recorded between November 1990 - January or February 1991, I think. And These Are The Days Of Our Lives, between the sessions of A Winter's Tale - Mother Love. I don't remember very well the dates, but it was something like that. |

considering there is a part of the video where he is actually asleep on a shelf, I'd say his stamina wasn't that great. On a side note, I believe Zebonka once told his nephew that Freddie died right there on the shelf and they left him there in order to finish the video, one of the funniest posts i've read on queenzone. |

The yellow jersey scenes were filmed in early 1991, and the rest in autumn and winter on 1990. See: link. That post contains another Zebonka gem - "I think the majority of the shots were taken before Freddie passed". A few months made a big difference in his appearance - remember his disease was already in an advanced stage in the late 80s, so things were declining rapidly. |

I had done the Headlong video frame by frame a few years back and there was a quick shot that I froze where you could see the clapboard before a take. It had the time and date on it. It said November 24, 1990 on it. |
BETA215 16.12.2014 11:11 |
Do you remember before which take it was? I had done, minutes ago, a frame by frame analysis and I can't find that frame. |
BETA215 16.12.2014 11:11 |
I analyzed the Greatest Flix DVD 2. |
Jazz 78 16.12.2014 11:30 |
It was a very quick shot. I happened to notice it while watching the video one night so I wanted to do a frame by frame. Actually, now that I think about it the day may have been November 23, 1990. I don't remember if it specified which take it was but it was a shot when they were in the studio and not when they were lying down on that shelving type unit. |
beemack74 16.12.2014 11:46 |
Wasn't the song released as a single in the U.S. In mid-January 1991?? Meaning the video would have to have been completed by then. I've always noticed that on the "shelf", when the rest of the band sing the line "And you think you're so strong", Freddie just lies there with his head resting on the shelf and his eyes open and doesn't mouth the words to that line. |
BETA215 16.12.2014 12:21 |
I can't find it. In this case, we have four possibilities why I can't find it: 1) Sony Vegas Pro 13.0 is pure bullshit. 2) I'm almost blind. 3) My copy of Led Zeppelin I (2014 Remaster) is distracting me from this analysis. 4) In this version (Greatest Flix DVD), they removed that frame. If someone can find it, please post that frame here. |

It was such a long while ago when I saw it but again at 49 my mind kind of failed me. LOL. Now that we're on the subject, I'm thinking it may not have been in the official video itslef but the outtakes from a documentary. For the life of me I can't remember which one I saw it in but that clapboard was seen with that date. Sorry to make you go searching. |
beemack74 16.12.2014 12:41 |
I seen the clapperboard , it's on the BBC tribute show hosted by Elton John, screened in November 1991. This features a few brief out takes from "Headlong" with TATDOOL played over the clips. Yes it reads 23-11-90. |

The Headlong Video was filmed EXACTLY a year before he died to the day, filming began for the scenes within the control room and shelf the day before, as well as an interview with the band and the rest was filmed on the stage in the studio,(exactly where Innuendo had been recorded) the following day which was the last day of filming for that video. In May the video for Days of our lives was filmed but it escapes me the exact day, I think it was more near the end than the beginning of the month and Ive got the 5th or 9th in my head for the Slightly Mad shoot but I'm not sure, but was defo in February for I'm Going Slightly Mad.... |

What a sad and curious coincidence. |
beemack74 16.12.2014 14:58 |
I've a feeling TATDOOL was filmed on May 30th 1991. Slightly Mad has a few dates given in various biographies... In Hutton's book he gives the date as February 14th..another book gives the date as February 5th...yet another source gives it as February 13th, so lots of conflicting dates being given. |

The reason Freddie had the stamina and was pretty agile on that small stage was because he had rest, after lets say 30 seconds of a take he would rest 15-20 mins and do another 30 seconds, it takes alot of courage to act like the younger and healthier self when you know that you have that horrible virus.. It nevertheless is a great fun musicvideo just as I'm Going Slightly Mad. |

Do you guys remember that Freddie apparently had a wound on his calf (or somewhere else on his leg?) for quite some time before he died? As he was suffering from AIDS, his body couldn't heal it. I cannot remember which leg the wound was on, but have always wondered if that's why in the Headlong video 'shelf scenes' the other band members all have their legs flat/closed, but Freddie has his right leg slightly cocked/ajar. Maybe it was too painful for him to have his legs totally closed like the other guys? |

Yep. Ditto. Film takes even on the smallest budget can take several hours. Conceivably, the end effect of what they'd recorded was over 2-3 days at least. I'm surprised that Freddie allowed the TOOTHY shot at all. With an actual lit set the heavy makeup wouldn't have been so noticeable but for whatever reasons the torpedo twins didn't spare him the indignity of a yellow sweater and dark ethnic makeup. Poor Fred. |

The final mix of Under Pressure was done on the 11th of September 1981. 'Burns a building down' indeed! |

Another thinly disguised "I'm obsessed with Aids/disease/death" topic... |
Kuijpy 17.12.2014 11:55 |
Whats the problem to talk about freddie s health? We know everything about him from 1970/1989. People are curious about death. |

Toothy. Eh. Well, back in the days before YouTube and the now ubiquitous piracy, there was this thing called VHS. it played vhs cassettes of your favorite programs. In this ancient time it was near impossible to track down a version of GREATEST FLIX II in the USA unless it was converted from a PAL sourced video. I BOUGHT a few of these. (As well as the magic years which was playable as NTSC) However, long story short. When I first watched this coveted pirate rip I enjoyed the headlong video but would freeze frame the part of the song "lose your rag" And wonder about Freddie's teeth. Up until that point I hadn't seen anything of the like from Freddie. I just think it was unusual now in hindsight that Fred let his pronounced teeth be shown in a promo clip. Anyways. Yeah it IS becoming a veiled Freddie illness post. Why not talk about the guy with his dick in his hand, and the girl with the vibrator collection and dissect the CULT - type influence of the song (fire woman" comes to mind) |
