I was only three when Freddie passed away so I did not know much about him. I knew a lot of Queen's songs growing up but now I am interested in learning more about Freddie. (In a respectful way).
I thought it'd be interesting to make a thread about Freddie's favorite things. (food, hobbies, vacation spot, etc).
If you are a real Freddie fan, read Jim Huttons book, "Freddie Mercury and me". You can read about Freddies private life from 1984 till 1991. I love it and i think you will love it too.

Freddie's favourites were 5ive, Robbie Williams, Jedward, Adam Lambert and of course Paul Rodgers. Also Justin Bieber, and it was his dying wish that Brian and Roger re-recorded the entire catalogue with him. In fact, having Maylor there was only optional, as long as Justin was there to do all vocals and play all instruments. Fred was a profound Belieber.

There's always a moron doing stupid jokes to make a newbie feel bad. Way to go champ.

If you are a real Freddie fan, you should burn this Hutton's pamphlet.

Not quite the post I would normally expect from you Sebastian. Hope it's just a blip. Original Poster - go to Peter Freestone's book and his online blog "Ask Phoebe", counting nearly 80 entries now, many of which relate specifically to Freddie's favourites across the years.

You failed miserably at being funny. Your immaturity is actually quite embarrassing.
Thanks. I'll check it out. I'm always cautious about biographies because I am not sure how much is twisted. I also know Freddie was quite private so I would feel bad reading about super personal information about him.
His favorite drink was Grape soda. Favorite food was fried chicken; hence it's mention in ONE VISION.
His favorite hairstyle was ball locks. Achieved by braiding pubic hair into a dreadlock fashion.
He didn't have a favorite book. However, His favorite pamphlet was Jim Hutton's book
Jim Hutton's book is subject of debate among many Queen fans, but I think its a nice book, he talks a few things about Freddie's private life. Many people are upset because of that, but I think Jim was respectful and didnt told about the real dark side of the human being we know as Freddie Mercury.
Havent read Phoebe's book but I have heard nice things about it.
If you don't want to support Phoebe but you want to read it, you can always search in the web. It's in .epub and free.
But if you like it, after having read it or before, you can always buy it.

Going back in the time machine to the fall/winter of 80/81, I remember a Creem magazine piece. It asked a few artists what they were interested in. His replies were Aretha Franklin, and the new Police album (Zenyatta Mondatta).
I remember this because I was not a fan of The Police at that time, and figured why not give it a spin. I ended up buying it and their two terrific LPs that followed.
One of Freddie's favourite things was art. He attended Ealing Art College in his earlier years. When he moved into Garden Lodge, he would spend large amounts of money buying various paintings, ornaments, and so on, from around the globe. One of his more notable spending sprees happened in the autumn of 1986, when he went to Japan.
Freddie was also a big cat lover, and had numerous cats, as I'm sure you know. I think cats are the natural animal for Freddie - gracious and proud.
Freddie travelled a lot, both for business and pleasure (usually both together). One of his favourite places was Japan - where Queen had discovered they had a huge fan base in the mid-70s. He also fell in love with Montreux in Switzerland, in his later days.
Apparently Freddie liked George Michael but I don't know when / where he had said that. But the George Michael thing is actually realistic because he had been influenced by Freddie earlier and his album Faith was selling a lot in 87-88 so Freddie might have been familiar with it. And I can imagine it being the kind of pop that Freddie would like.
only one other 'Freddie's favorite' anything comes to my mind.....truly insignificant but............
I swear I read somewhere and maybe even saw a picture of it.....but I think he always smoked Marlboros.........lol
Oh wait here we go.........
"When I first saw Freddie smoking in 1980 he was smoking Marlboro Red. He soon changed over to Silk Cut in the UK."
