Do you think he would think it's in a sad state? Would he be a fan of Lady GaGa? I often wonder how the music industry would be if he were still alive. |

Well, he would appreciate some kind of music, and he would hate other kinds of music. Like he always did. |

I think he would appreciate some of the pop scene, but some of it he would dismiss. He would understand and applaud the business sense of Lady Gaga and how she is capitalising on something a little different, but not so different from what has gone on before. I think he would have explored different genres, depending what seemed popular and would have probably collaborated with a few younger artists. |
Oscar J 10.12.2014 06:58 |
He did dance music himself damnit. As if Body Language is any better than today's pop music. Pfft. |
MadTheSwine73 10.12.2014 08:16 |
I think he'd like a good amount of the good pop scene (I know, "good" is subjective, but I think there's a general consensus of what "good pop" is today among Queen fans), and the current rock scene, which I think hasn't been this good since the mid-1990s. I think it'd be the same case with Lennon if he were still alive. |
goose44 10.12.2014 10:53 |
He would be on tour with his all time favorite, Paul Rodgers doing a duo of Queen and Bad Company's greatest hits. |

If Freddie had still been around then we would not have to put up with this shitty collaboration of Queen / Lambert. Plus we would have some new brilliant proper Queen albums instead of the crap getting released now. Freddie would have made a lot of difference if he were still with us all. |
brENsKi 10.12.2014 14:00 |
Freddie woulda liked a load of the stuff that the purists call "manufactured crap"....after all his Mr Bad Guy album sounded very synthetic. Also I think he'd be long retired from making music and touring. he'd have probably give the Queen+ stuff his blessing - after all didn't he say something along those lines when he was ill? what would he be doing now? probably have written and produced a queen musical called "The Show Must Go On...and On...and On" |
miraclesteinway 10.12.2014 14:02 |
I think Freddie would have liked certain artists, I think he would have paid a lot more attention to musical theatre and operetta in his own career, and I think he would still work with Queen. It's hard to know exactly what the quality of his work would be, if or how he would integrate Queen's style with what's going on now (as it happens, I think a lot of it has come full circle, and rock is back). I know he said in '86 'there comes a time when you can't run around on stage anymore', but I suspect he said that in the knowledge that he was ill, or at least might be ill. I suspect if he was alive and well, he would be touring once in a while. Queen would almost certainly have gone all out for the year 2000 celebrations, and they would have played as a four piece for Mandela (perhaps), and would probably have played as a four piece at the Queen's jubilee celebrations in 2002 and 2012, as well as the London Olympics. I'm not sure he would be doing a Mick Jagger and doing these international tours anymore, after all, he'd be almost 70 years old, but he'd certainly do some quality work. |

Obviously, if Fred was still around then BM & RT would have no need to promote a tour with Lambert!!! Sometimes I despair.........(usually with your gems of wisdom Sir Gez) We all get it. You don't approve of Adam Lambert. Yawn.... And how would you know Fred would not approve of what they chose to do? Did your friend of Wayne Sleep tell you this??? |

There was plenty of bubblegum pop in the 60s , yet Freddie liked Hendrix and The Beatles. So why would he (hypothetically) like manufactured pop now? Theres a reason he was in a rock band and not some other genre. |

good point! In other words.........most of Freddie's solo work was not what would one really call rock......(or hard rock, at least!) Wasnt Freddie quite a fan of Boy George? And at least enough of a fan of Michael Jackson to have a short-lived collaboration with him........ |
fras444 11.12.2014 21:10 |

True and a very good point. I guess you could look at Led Zep. A band that "never believed in singles and believed in making money from intensive touring.." and as many people would put it... A band that was against "capitalising" music... Wonder what they thought when Queen shot to fame and started making money through releasing single's such as Killer Queen.... |

Wonder what they thought when Queen shot to fame and started making money through releasing single's such as Killer Queen....i doubt it even registered on their radar - they were the biggest band in the world almost from zepII - Bonham's death. their albums were huge sellers and their tours sold out stadiums 8 yrs before queen. zep did their thing, queen did theirs... both bands were leaders in their respective markets (until queen lost the USA) |

Yes I Imagine they will probably knock out a cover of Dragon Attack as the Xfactor christmas song. And omg Delilah - just how many songs about cats do we need. Last time I checked the top 20, 18 songs were about feline misdemeanours. F it I really will go slightly mad if I hear ANY MORE guitars sounding like miaows. And as for Man Made Paradise, the acappella outro reminds of a Jason Donavon b-side. That would just be singing in the shower for Jase. |
