Hi, it seems QF is a huge disappointment not only for the fans but also for the record company. In Germany it dropped from 7 (first week) down to 21 (!!!) in the second week... Unbelieveable in a county which held "Made In Heaven" instantly at no 1 for 10 weeks as I remember. I know, it's hard to compare, but times of joshing people are over, aren't they? I' d like to know if the same happended at charts in other countries???? With a light smile I have to say: It's a self-made disappointment.....people are tired of endless compilations. Not only we fans.... |
MAYniac91 03.12.2014 11:18 |
Well, again (simular to "The Cosmos Rocks") there was no really promotion behind that project in germany. No TV commercials, no single... nothing. I think the record company wants to sell most of the compilation around christmas time and that time is still to come. |
gerry 03.12.2014 12:22 |
Many Queen fans were expecting more to this release after Brian & Roger hyped things up, only to rip us all off. Well its us fans who have the last laugh! If they do not listen to the fans they deserve this album to be a flop. |
andyb1968 03.12.2014 12:32 |
Let's face it QF was never going to be huge, it'll be in the bargain bins in January ! |
k-m 03.12.2014 12:53 |
It seems to be doing okay in the UK so far. 5-13-16, which is not bad considering the music business has changed dramatically since e.g. the "Rocks" album. I never expected it to do very well in any country. "Made in Heaven" was a completely different story, better to compare it with other compilations from recent years. |
Russian Headlong 03.12.2014 15:41 |
its not surprising. the only track I want is LMIYHA the other two 'new' tracks are not new and not better than the original Freddie solo tracks. Can't see them selling out the 02 with Lambert, hes rubbish. |
inu-liger 03.12.2014 15:52 |
Considering it was the record company who wanted the compilation in the first place since 2011, and probably wrung some hands as far as the pre-release promotion was concerned (because let's face it, they probably knew fans were going to be pissed off at yet another filler compilation release), I don't think Brian and Roger were all that interested to begin with. |

Queen Forever - UK sales to date: SILVER (based on two weeks' sales) - it's already equalled The Cosmos rocks, and closing in on Hot Space (your favourite) Flash Gordon & The Game. with top ten peaks in austria, belgium, holland, UK, Czech rep, germany, italy, Switzerland, Korea, japan and spain and Queen's highest USA album placing since 1992. |

Charts positions are expected considering the whole thing aroud the album. Badly promoted, it's a compilation, the deluxe edition sucks, love kills doesn't had much, TMBMTLTT totally sucks, LMIYHA isn't a single, etc, etc |
gerry 04.12.2014 04:26 |
Brenski: Queen Forever still is a disappointment because it never reached the number one position like many of the artists of today have. I get your sarcastic digs saying Hot Space is my fav Queen album , well i said its ONE of my favourite albums, so go and have a dig at someone else's comments because all you do on here is leave negative bitchy comments. You are very full of community spirit are you not! LIGHTEN UP BUD! |
FlorianS 04.12.2014 06:31 |
I think that for the kind of product it is it does very well. Better than Rocks, Cosmos Rocks and GH III. Number 1 spot was never to be expected IMHO. Only die hard fans are interested in the 3 'new' tracks and everybody else should buy GH I or II (or has done this already). |

gerry wrote:Brenski: Queen Forever still is a disappointment because it never reached the number one position like many of the artists of today have.you're spouting shit again. a top five position selling almost 100,000 copies in the UK in three weeks ain't bad. i note YOU completely disregarded all the other chart placing i referred to - in particular queen's highest USA placing for 22 years. funny how you ignore EVERYTHING that crushes your feeble-lie-packed-bile-induced argument secondly, why don't you do some maths and figure it out? most albums stay at no1 for on average 2-4 weeks. that equates to 17 no1 albums per year in the UK. with four or five major label releases each week added to the dozen of lesser knowns and the increased release activity in the buildup to chrimbo - queen's odds of making number one are drastically reduced - then when pitted against floyd, foos and several "current" artists in the same week, i'd say a top 5 is respectable. you need to change your record fella before you wear the sylus out. gerry wrote:You are very full of community spirit are you not! Gerry's 12 year old's playground debate continues, the album didn't go to number one. . . Who gives a toss. I wonder how the sales of Queen Forever stack up against Freddie's piss poor Mr Bad Guy? What brENsKi has pointed out in his posts is true. Has anyone noticed that Gerry always posts about what he doesn't like about Queen or what he sees as negative subjects related to Queen or BM and RT. |

I think this is not too bad for the product they gave us: Chart (2014) Peak position Australian Albums (ARIA) 35 Austrian Albums (Ö3 Austria) 8 Belgian Albums (Ultratop Flanders) 6 Belgian Albums (Ultratop Wallonia) 8 Canadian Albums (Billboard) 11 Czech Albums (CNS IFPI) 8 Danish Albums (Hitlisten) 15 Dutch Albums (MegaCharts) 3 Norwegian Albums (VG-lista) 11 Finnish Albums (Suomen virallinen lista) 39 French Albums (SNEP) 12 German Albums (Offizielle Top 100) 4 Irish Albums (IRMA) 18 Israeli Albums Chart 4 Italian Albums (FIMI) 5 Japanese Albums (Oricon) 16 Korean International Albums (Gaon) 2 New Zealand Albums (Recorded Music NZ) 18 Polish Albums (ZPAV) 8 Portuguese Albums (AFP) 12 Spanish Albums (PROMUSICAE) 8 Swedish Albums (Sverigetopplistan) 28 Swiss Albums (Schweizer Hitparade) 4 UK Albums (OCC) 5 US Billboard 200 38 US Top Rock Albums (Billboard) 11 US Top Hard Rock Albums (Billboard) 4 |

I only say this because, by the way you go you're (not possessive) certainly on something. |

FlorianS, QF was never no 4 in Germany! Let's face it: You can't compare a silver disc today to a silver disc in 1985 or whatever. How many sold discs do you need today for getting silver??? 5000? 10000?? QF is a MEGA flop! And I can't believe they don't released LMIYHA as a single. If it only was for the collectors. I had so much fun colecting maxi-cd-singles. Remember the great Breakthru, Invisible Man, Headlong...... |

QF is a MEGA flop!.yes you can. in fact (if anything) the units sold method of today is less generous than the sales value used until 1979 - because units sold does not benefit directly from rising costs, inflation and the RPI in general. UK figures - ALBUMS: (since 1979 - prior to this it was by sales revenue - figures in brackets) silver = 60,000 (£75,000 1973-1975, £100,000 1975-1977, and £150,000 1977-1979) gold = 100,000 (£150,000 1973-1974, £250,000 1974-1977, and £300,000 1977-1979) platinum = 300,000 (£1,000,000) SINGLES: (since 1989 - thresholds prior to that in brackets) silver = 200,000 (250,000) gold = 400,000 (500,000) platinum = 600,000 (1,000,000) full priced UK albums varied drastically between £2.99 and £4.99 over the decade - reasons cited include high inflation and increasing costs of oil during that decade. A standard of "units sold" being introduced resulted in a more accurate certification method. if you equate the album prices to the 1970s certifications you'll see they more or less equate with the 1979 conversion to units sold. hope this helps |

k-m 12.12.2014 17:11 |
Yes, it's not a great result, but I think you still need to compare it against other Queen releases in the US in the last two decades. I remember MIH only got to no. 58 and I suspect it also dropped out very soon. Compared to this and considering QF is basically just a compilation, I think it did relatively well. Results from other countries seem pretty good overall. I'm glad Let Me In is getting more and more airplay in the UK. I think there is still a chance people will take notice of this particular single and, QF as a result. Maybe.

EDWOOD 12.12.2014 20:09 |
You have to bear in mind that it's the case of diminishing returns as to how successful a Queen 'hits' album will be after umpteen such compilations have already been released. It was only in 2009 that Absolute Greatest was released. This also made the top 10 in the UK (peaking at 3) and sold about 550,000 copies in the UK just in the last 6 weeks of that year. I think it went on to sell about 750,000 but from what I can see, and due to the move to Universal Records, the record has either been deleted or not many records of it are being issued/shipped to stores. I don't think you can buy it on Itunes for example as I believe their new record company wanted to focus on reissuing the Greatest Hits compilations again when they took over Queen's contract in 2011. Now, as we all know album sales have gone down significantly and there was no way QF was going to sell anywhere near what AG did in the UK. If it did it would be in the top 10 best selling albums of the year! It does seem to be doing better overseas though chartwise compared to AG - no doubt the three 'new' songs have their appeal. Also, QP always like to aim for the Christmas market when releasing their more commercial product - there is more competition and hence, chart positions won't look as good when there are more artists jostling for position. Sales will be better though rather then if they released this in, say February. It wasn't going to do great in the US for the simple fact that America is drowning in Queen hits compilations. How many has there been since 1991? A lot more then in the UK - funnily enough the 2004 version of Greatest Hits (the WWRY version) has charted in the Billboard 200 album chart for the last 2 weeks - it's already selling more there then QF is! |
Sheer Brass Neck 12.12.2014 21:51 |
Chart positions mean SFA. Madonna and Mariah Carey are greater artist than Queen will ever be due to chart positions. That's a fact. |
