Has anyone sat at the side of the stage or know of anyone who has on the US leg of the tour?
I've recently came into a bit of money and I'm pretty tempted to splash out but I just don't know
If I hadn't other current economic priorities, I would've gone for this seats in a millisecond. It's a (expensive, yes) one in a lifetime opportunity to watch your heroes performing next to them on stage.
It's so tempting but I don't know if I'll be too close to Brian and Roger and it'll shatter my opinion of them! I'm also concerned about how it'll sound?
So close to the stage but a terrible angle, if it's anything like the N.America tour you will be looking at their backs for most of the show. The positive is if you don't mind missing the stage show you could closely study Roger, Spike and Neil playing and some nice angles with Brian playing, although his back will be turned to you for at least 1/3 of the show. You will probably have to watch KQ, LOML, '39, Drum Battle, Love Kills, end of the Guitar Solo and more on a screen as they all take place front-stage which means 100 yards away with backs facing you.

What he said.
But if you have the money, go for it anyway. It's more win than lose.
It's a once in a lifetime thing I suppose and who knows if they'll come here again. Fuck it, I think it'll be money well spent. Still got issues with the sound though.....
I was facing the guys (well mainly girls...ok women) who were there in Montreal and whilst I didn't spend the whole night watching them, I have to say there appeared to be very little interaction with the band. I think Spike acknowledged them once and Neil possibly as well, but Brian or Roger didn't go near from what I could tell. It's a terrible angle for seeing the stage show, but... you are essentially on stage so it would be an experience.
However, given the choice of that or a front two or three rows seat, I'd take the front of the stage every time. (Or even right in front of the walkway, which is actually pretty darn excellent and my favourite view.
(Now in the US/Canada tour the floor was all seated (Standing all the time but not crushed and no danger of being pushed out of the way)
, obviously if it is a general admission standing in the UK that may make it a different choice.
Of course maybe there is additional benefits to the side stage thing like a meet and greet which changes the value, but in terms of just seeing the concert, I'd do it only if I was going to more than one show, because the sound will likely be monitor level and the visuals will be lost. So do it, but also see it from out front, you may never get another chance.
My opinion, yours may differ.
At the los Angeles show I went to, those side seats were the source of a few laughs from Adam Lambert.
He called them out for being piss poor participants. "Ahh you suck! " during the callback part.
Its good in two ways
1: he was absolutely right. Many times these ppl with a ton of dough are lousy fans. They might have even scored tickets via a corporate event. Either way. Almost zero participation. They did suck.
2. It goes over well with long term fans and those in the back (who didn't want to pay $180) to hear the "fancy ones" get called out in their snobbery... whether due or undue.
Aside from seeing the crowd from that angle I don't see a whole lot of appeal being there other than being an eyesore for the viewer.
Oh... nevermind. They probably cost an arm and a leg. I forget. $$$$$
ahhh people who speak my language in terms of seating haha!! yeah i have to admit im going to at least 5 gigs on the UK Tour,
Newcastle, London O2 (2nd night) Leeds and Manchester, i was going to do Wembley Arena but wanted it to be the best show in terms of view and sound so im doing
I Want It All VIP Experience, costs again.. cough cough £300 but its actually a fantastic seat, its on level 1 i believe just above peoples heads and its nearest to the stage
you may want to save the £900 from what i hear are not great views and you could do 3 shows VIP as opposed to just the one! but then again thats just me!
I was 3rd row on the right side of the stage, very close.
Great seats but, as mentioned, it would have been better to be at the front, as they all spent a LOT of time there throughout the show (trying to play to the entire venue), so you ended up looking at their backs quite a bit.
And prices for the other seats were comparable. Ah well, live and learn.
sounds awesome Mark!! which night at the O2 are you doing? first or second? or indeed both haha? also are you hoping to do the same kinda of DVDs for the UK tour if enough footage comes out?
Love your US ones
Cheers
After paying top dollar for the first night I bought what I thought was a cheap seat for the second night in Melbourne, supposedly restricted view. Great spot, I was a couple of rows back from the onstage VIP seats at the side of the stage. The band were waving to us from behind the curtain, I was that close I even got a fist pump from Brian for my Freddie Mercury Tribute concert T shirt!

The band couldnt give a fuck about the rich ones on the side of the stage.....
At the Auckland show two girls were taking a selfie up there (backs to the band), and Adam photobombed them when they did it, so it's an incorrect statement to say they couldn't give a fuck.
The one thing it guarantees is an awesome view. Only downside I could see is you're not on the Brian side of the stage.

Hi Oliver. I don't plan on recording video myself but I would love to do a few MultiCams if possible, especially of any shows I go to. I have organised tickets for the first London show, I imagine I will go to the second one also and possibly Liverpool, I fancy a trip to Amsterdam too...
that sounds great Mark, yeah i myself would love to have multi cams of the shows i go to and of course with this being an arena tour hopefully we'll get some!! thats one of the sad things about the last
Brian and Kerry tour that cameras were pretty much banned at them, i mean theres about a minute of Born Free from scarborough, the only show i did, but thankfully im going to 5 shows at least on this tour so heres hoping!
