Interview with Orbit. He talks about TMBMTLTT duet, Adam Lambert and Forever. link |
cmsdrums 13.11.2014 08:15 |
Interesting to read that Brian NEVER played on the track originally (yet John, and Roger did), so was there ever a full Queen version back then or was it always purely a Freddie solo track that John and Roger helped Freddie to demo back in the day? Also that the delays in release, which were thought to be the blame of the Jackson Estate, seem to lay at Orbit's door as a result of taking himself off (a mini breakdown??) in the middle of the project. If only they hadn't waited for him and had pressed ahead with a decent mix..... |

Now you've worked with Michael Jackson's vocals on this project, would you consider contributing to one of his own posthumous records in the future? "I would. Is there anything left? There's been two projects. Personally I'm going to give a very distinct no comment on my views musically [on them]. No comment is firmly in the middle of any possible answer I might give. It means I'm not making a comment, but it needs an awful lot of improvement, doesn't it? Who wants a record where people say no comment? There's a long way between no comment and brilliant, and I feel I could possibly move things a bit north of the no comment." He is insulting Made In Heaven... |

We can base assumption on Orbit's answer that there doesn't exist finished 1984 Queen version of the song, only a demo....Shame. |

Or perhaps it just didn't feature any guitar? (And hence why Brian didn't want it on the album) |

Thanks! Thank my head for the horrible comprehension/translation. |

William Orbit: "Who wants a record where people say no comment? There's a long way between no comment and brilliant, and I feel I could possibly move things a bit north of the no comment."...And that worked realy well with the Queen remixes, which the people just loooved. I guess he would be happy for "no comments" right about now. |

cmsdrums wrote: Or perhaps it just didn't feature any guitar? (And hence why Brian didn't want it on the album) Thanks, that thought crossed my mind but on the other hand it is a song which is very good musically and I thought that Brian just wouldn't push for ending The Works with ITTWWC only because There Must Be.... didn't feature any guitar. Btw is there any possibility that there was an original guitar track (1984 ver.) for TMBMTLTT but it got "lost" in the archives (as was the case with Don't Stop Me Now) ? |
Mr.Mouth 14.11.2014 07:04 |
Orbit did a poor job on TMBMTLTT in my book Greetings to all my fellow Queenzoners |

Queenonline reporting that he is working on more unreleased tracks for a new project ! God help us all !!!! |

Bohardy wrote:John did, as he's credited on the cd sleeve as playing the bass, but I must admit that I am making an assumption on Roger. However, the drum sound on the track doesn't sound very modern so it's an educated guess.cmsdrums wrote: Interesting to read that Brian NEVER played on the track originally (yet John, and Roger did), so was there ever a full Queen version back then or was it always purely a Freddie solo track that John and Roger helped Freddie to demo back in the day?I can't see any mention that John and Roger played on this originally. MercurialFreddie 14.11.2014 17:36 |
Taken from link What’s more, he’s already been asked to work on Queen’s next project, which will include more previously unheard material. “They’ve asked me to work on more songs with me, so it can’t be all bad!” he reveals. “Queen are where my passion is at the moment and I have to say, I’m just in love with the music. I’m listening to proper bands again and I’m really into it. I didn’t even know what classic rock truly meant until it was explained to me recently.” Yesss! :) It isn't stated that all of the tracks on the "next upcoming project" will be presented as Orbit's mixes. Maybe they will limit his role to "producer". |
brians wig 14.11.2014 18:15 |
Dear God. If they ask Mack to produce, I'm sure he would! Rather him than Orbit. |
fofum 15.11.2014 05:23 |
Mack is not a big enough name anymore. Producers are the new stars. I find William Orbit to be a fairly egotistical man. He really doesn't care what any Queen fans may think of his work. He knows better than us. Personally, I've fallen in love with LMIYHA... even the Orbit extended mix... mainly for the rare Queen footage in the vid. TMBMTLTT is pure bobbins though. |
MercurialFreddie 15.11.2014 05:30 |
Then let's hope that the reissue of FM Solo box will get BM+RT mix of TMBMTLTT and even the unheard John Deacon mix. |
inu-liger 15.11.2014 17:26 |
The John Deacon mix does not exist |
MercurialFreddie 16.11.2014 16:43 |
Are you sure inu ? It was rumoured that he did a mix but... it's a shame that a rumour turned out to be only a rumour :(. Orbit has been asked about a loudness on the final mix (official cd version) of TMBMTLTT how would you interpret his answer ? link PS!!. Some interesting info from Brian @23:00 of working back in the day with Freddie on Let Me In Your Heart Again: link |
inu-liger 18.11.2014 04:27 |
Yes, I am sure. I directly asked Greg Brooks about this several years ago. |
cmsdrums 18.11.2014 10:19 |
Greg confirmed lots of things in the past that turned out to be untrue, either because he wasn't being straight or was simply mistaken as his work in the archives wasn't complete or wasn't thorough. Only 18 months ago official word was that no live version of Fairy Fellers Master Stroke existed. The Deacon mix may not exist, but Greg's word is not definitive final proof. |
inu-liger 18.11.2014 15:00 |
Would you like me to ask him again, just to be absolutely sure? It HAS been years and they've had time by now to go through just about everything in the archives. |
cmsdrums 18.11.2014 18:18 |
It would be great to ask the question again whilst the tracks is back in the public eye with the re-release. I suppose there are two questions; does this mix exist in the Queen archives, and also if it isn't in the archives is it possible that it exists outside the archive ? |
