http://www.msn.com/en-ca/entertainment/news/robert-plant-shunned-500m-led-zeppelin-reunion/ar-AA7rLUj Your thoughts....? |
brENsKi 10.11.2014 10:22 |
he's got stuff of his own to promote (right now) saying yes at this point would be a distractions form his current venture - and also take away much of the consumer interest. wait til the album/tour are done then - never say never. also waiting for a Ritchie B Rainbow/Purple III reunion - about as likely |
Thistle 10.11.2014 10:23 |
My thoughts are mixed. Arggghhhhhhh!!! is one. WHY?????? is another. Fuck you, Plant, is up there. He obviously doesn't need the cash..... But mostly arghhhhh!!!! |
Thistle 10.11.2014 10:52 |
He's got all the time in the world for solo ventures. Zep have played one show in a gazillion years. I totally get what you're saying there Brenski, but I know what I'd rather see ;) (and $800m? WOW). |
Holly2003 10.11.2014 11:39 |
The 2007 show was a fine way to end Led Zep. It was a great show and buried memories of poor-ish post-Bonham reunion shows in the 80s. Plant has it spot on and I admire his integrity in not going for the easy money. |
Thistle 10.11.2014 11:42 |
I just wanna see Zep, because I haven't before :) That said, I wanted to see Meat Loaf.....and he was shit. |
Holly2003 10.11.2014 12:27 |
As a Jock, you just can't bear all that money going to waste :p :) |
noorie 10.11.2014 13:58 |
Perhaps the rest of the band can invite Mr. Lambert to front them, following the footsteps of Brian May and Roger Taylor! (being sarcastic, ok?) |
Thistle 10.11.2014 17:05 |
I'll Jock you, Holly ;) |

Good on him. Led Zeppelin produced something truly magical in their brief run, and for Plant to continuously turn down offers because he wants to focus on his solo career and continue to progress as a musician is very admirable. Honestly, I'd rather JPJ get back with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme for a second Them Crooked Vultures album, and Plant to continue to work on his solo career (his newest album is fantastic), and for Page to... uh....... |
WKMahlerMahlers.Com 10.11.2014 17:44 |
There was an official announcement by the Robert Plant camp earlier today that he did not turn down $500 million dollars as reported earlier, according to a Led Zeppelin group and Classic Rock Forever via Facebook.Com. However, there is no conformation that Zeppelin is back together either. 6:43 pm. est November 10, 2014. "it's time to ramble on"... |

Plant has no intentions to relive his past. He doesn't need the money nor the accolades. JPJ is doing just fine too. I just feel bad for Page. He says he wants to tour and create new music, but he has become so synonymous with Zeppelin and being the protector of their legacy, and I fear he'll never escape it. |

Page has always been the architect/artisan type happy to have the front man up there projecting the work. Only way he can create new music these days will be to add a recognised frontman/singer and take the music in a different direction. therein lies his problem. that being said, i'd probably sell a kidney to see Page and Blackmore rock out one last time |
matt z 11.11.2014 16:17 |
And if they played without John Paul Jones and couldn't get Bonham's son. .. and toured "with Robert's blessing" ..... Jimmy could Tour as Led Zeppelin + Adam Lambert! |
brENsKi 11.11.2014 16:51 |
jeez Matt - four caveats in one sentence...nice one!!! |

I saw Robert earlier this year and it was true magic. He can still howl and scream with the best of them but his physical precence was that of an old man, witch is perfectly normal. Of the 15 songs he played more than half of them were old Zeppelin songs with a twist. Whole lotta Love with african instruments and Rock n roll with a dancebeat. "-It is important not to get stuck in the past. Remember it, celebrate it, relive it." he said, and I'm sure we'll never get to see them perform again. Fitting end at O2 i think, showed that they still got it. And I love his solo work. As someone said earlier, I feel sorry for Jimmy. |

Plant's right in not wanting to go out and do a greatest hits/tribute tour of Zeppelin stuff, if it doesn't really suit his wishes. Having said that - it's practically his band. No one's going to tell him what to play. He could get the band back together and play whatever the fuck they feel like playing. Who'll stop them? I admire his consistency, and you couldn't ask for a better epilogue than the O2 show, but I reckon it lacks a bit of imagination on his part. |
brENsKi 17.11.2014 07:31 |
while the chances of a Zep reunion are still very unlikely, the door is not a completely closed as it appeared last week. The Sunday Mirror have been forced to print a retraction/apology to Percy... On November 9, 2014 we published an article entitled “Branson’s £500M offer to reform Led Zeppelin... but singer Plant says no”.The article claimed that Mr Plant turned down an offer from Mr Branson and ripped up the contract. We accept that there was no such offer and no refusal, and we apologise to Mr Plant and the other members of the band.We have agreed to make a donation to a charity nominated by Mr Plant, the Teenage Cancer Trust. so - if it's all the same, i'm hanging onto that kidney...just in case it's needed lol |

These guys will do anything to sell papers. Occasionally they get called on it and have to do damage control. But it's rare enough that they can continue with business as usual. |

and to be fair The Mirror - don't do this anywhere near as often as The Sun, The Mail or The Express |

After Plant's refusal to do more dates after the o2 show they did audition to find a replacement. Although as we know they didn't go through with it. Had it been plant's band it wouldn't have even got as far as thinking about a different singer. I really enjoy what Robert Plant is doing at the moment, and the re imagined Zep songs he includes during his current tour. But I also admire Page's understanding of what Zep and their song were. |
