Got my 2CD album today (Germany), and what we expected after listening to the soundbits on i-Tunes is pure truth: I can't notice any "new takes on well-known tracks" as promised. Some tracks are edited (Play The Game), but if there are differences to the originals they may by very very slightly in mixing. Maybe somone out there may find some differences. Til now I do not! So, If you don't already have "Let Me In Your Heart" there's no need to buy this album - in my opinion. BTW: Jackson crap sounds as terrible on disc as on radio..... |
inu-liger 07.11.2014 07:50 |
This is by far the most cynical release. Edit: And dishonest? |
andyb1968 07.11.2014 08:01 |
Any time you see the word remastered be suspicious, it should read rehashed. This is Queen's worst release, Queen Rocks was worthwhile to make people realise what a heavy band Queen can be, a great driving album too BTW, plus we got a brand new sensational track in NOBY, but QF is just a cash cow !!! |
MadTheSwine73 07.11.2014 08:06 |
If it comes out on vinyl, I'll buy it, just to have LMIYHA on vinyl. |

No "deluxe editions" or any space wasting crap like that. Instead we get what is almost certainly a wasted opportunity, aside from the 3 new tracks. |

This is the first ever Queen album I am in no rush to buy. By February or March it will be in the bargain bins so I might think about it then! The word Remastered isn't always bad. The 40th anniversary remastered releases sounded great, though the bonus discs, for the most part, leave a lot to be desired when compared to what Led Zeppelin are releasing now. |
matt z 07.11.2014 08:11 |
I think you guys may be missing the biggest joke of all. A quick look at the tracklist CLEARLY shows 3 new takes on (top of) well known tracks. Read sarcastically and it'll all make sense. At least it will get the music out to people that haven't heard em. SHOULD be all three MJ tracks though. AS WELL as others for a DELUXE edition. |
Mr. Bed Guy 07.11.2014 08:20 |
Only Love Kills is "well known"...and it's a new take, but, the press release suggested new takeson other tracks (Miracle, Play the game etc.) Or,maybe, we fans are simply silly....... |
jondickens1 07.11.2014 09:01 |
Haven't got mine yet, but hearing this news makes me so angry. Since at least October last year Brian was more than hinting at a new Queen studio album a la Made in Heaven 2. Then it became just a compilation album but I was still looking forward to it due to the new takes. Now at the end of all the hype, all we get is one new unheard track. If Queen were a football team we all supported, we'd all be singing "sack the board" |
andyb1968 07.11.2014 09:42 |
I think but for the tour, given more time, we may have got mih 2, but the record company pushed for this rubbish to be out by Xmas ! |
winterspelt 07.11.2014 10:13 |
Got my double cd version. As some people before me, I could not find any "new take" on any old song. I have to admit that I listened only once to TMBMTLTT and could not find any difference with the previous Orbit mix so Im not interested in listening that version once again. Forever is a missing opportunity to create an amazing album, I cant believe that after the amazing Live at Rainbow release, they released this album. The album wasnt expensive so I dont feel "sad" about buying it but some of you might as well wait until its cheaper (or simply dont buy it at all and simply go and buy some of the new songs) |

So now as i said in earlier threads Dr May tells fibs. Just like he does when he says AL can sing anything just as well as Freddie could (another lie) I have ordered my copy of QF from the digital stores but after reading this it will be getting sent back. All the AL fans can buy this release instead. Queen fans always get ripped off big time. |
BETA215 07.11.2014 11:37 |
This album should be called by the fans: 'The Lost Opportunity' |
gerry 07.11.2014 11:43 |
yeah here is more proof that Queen (Brian & Roger) do not give a stuff what they release now, at least if freddie was around he would be very grand and careful with attention to detail and tracks. This is a sloppy lazy release and i will not insult myself by keeping the cd when it arrives. |
Day dop 07.11.2014 11:45 |
Sounds to me like the record company had set its release date, and May and Taylor wanted all the Jackson tracks to be on it, but the Jackson estate wouldn't, or didn't get around to letting them have permission for whatever reason. I remember pointing out that Queen online announced there would be retakes on old tracks, but as it turns out, from what I can gather, that means certain songs being faded out earlier than usual or something similar. Impressive. |
Day dop 07.11.2014 11:48 |
This is kind of up there with U2's recent fuck up of highest proportions. Although, at least U2 fans got an albums worth full of material, albeit completely shit. |

Barry Durex 07.11.2014 12:20 |
I said I wouldn't buy this when it was announced and I say it again. Take note QPL, I have purchased EVERY UK CD and DVD release (including solo material) to date, but it all stops here. I no longer feel like an appreciated fan, it seems you would prefer a mug punter. |
brians wig 07.11.2014 12:41 |
Queen Forever is NOT for the fans. It NEVER was. It's simply the Ballads album that was planned for a few years ago with 3 'new' tracks tagged onto it as an incentive for the Fans to buy it - a practise commonly done by so many other artists. Of course, we all expected something different from some of the other tracks, especially those billed as "2014", but I'm not surprised it's turned out to be bollocks. Disappointed, but not surprised. To those who have their albums (bloody digipack crap no doubt rather than a proper plastic case?), what do the sleeve notes say about the "2014 remasters"? |
LucasDiego 07.11.2014 12:51 |
I will buy only the single CD, for the three new, or old, tracks, fuck the double version! |

Mr. Bed Guy wrote: Only Love Kills is "well known"...and it's a new take, but, the press release suggested new takeson other tracks (Miracle, Play the game etc.) Or,maybe, we fans are simply silly.......Absolutely agree - the press release referred to the new tracks, then "new takes" of other well known songs. If they want to be so dishonest as to refer to tiny edits on a few tracks, or a new remaster (which was probably necessary simply to level tracks across the compilation) as "new takes" then they really have royally taken the piss (yet again). |
TRS-Romania 07.11.2014 13:15 |
I was tempted to buy the 3 new tracks individually from iTunes, but they are album-only songs (apart from Love Kills) and I was not willing to shelf out any money on the other songs that I already have on other albums (regardless if they are remastered, which in most situations just means a louder mix, clipped and more compressed) So I downloaded the 3 new songs from a well known torrent site. |
TRS-Romania 07.11.2014 13:34 |
To proof my point about remasters just being louder: compare the 1995 version of Under Pressure with the 2011 remaster (open in separate pages/tabs to compare) 1995 http://i61.tinypic.com/33mc1gk.png 2011 http://i58.tinypic.com/15rnjw2.png Louder does not make a mix better! If I want to hear it louder, I would turn up the volume knob. Also if you look at the wave form of ”Let me in your heart again” one might say it has been over processed as well (the more a wave form looks like a blob, the worse the dynamics!) |
Heavenite 07.11.2014 14:15 |
Brian has said that he can make songs from bits. So might the main purpose of this be to get the latest kids on board? Obviously the "3 new tracks" were aimed at established fans, who wouldn't have otherwise bothered. And with just the one MJ track used, that leaves two more for the next album maybe. Or maybe even one each on the next two albums. Hard to say. |
joerijoerijoeri 07.11.2014 17:54 |
Here's to hoping a proper anthology will be released. Maybe when Brian and Roger are too old and tired to do any tours with flavour-of-the-month singers. I'd so much rather have unfinished demos in good quality (or any quality) than bullshit remixes or simply re-releases of the same tracks. |

As for the demos, you can find here lots and lots of demos in different quality. |
tomchristie22 08.11.2014 00:28 |
Generally, I think 'anthology' here is supposed to refer to a release in the same vein as The Beatles' - a collection of demos, alternate takes, live versions and such. QZ users have often referred to such a hypothetical release. |

Heavenite 08.11.2014 02:46 |
While this is obviously a disappointing release for the dyed on fans. I think it's a pretty crafty one from the marketing perspective. The MJ song is presumably to try and get his fans on board.the Queen bandwagon. TMBMTLTT is a clever choice too I think because it's a beautiful ballad written by Freddie. Once they've listened to that, some might well be hooked! They also get to listen to all the other great tracks that so many will have never heard before. The three "new tracks" are probably the absolute minimum for the established fans to buy the product, and then they are only songs that have been heard before in one shape or another. That might well be to leave more shots in the locker of what is clearly a limited resource. Then the array of some of Queen's greatest songs may also be designed to get the new fans on board, who may well have been brought in by the latest tour with AL. |
gerry 08.11.2014 04:46 |
So they you have folks a group that once was classy with its releases to a now failing band that could not give a toss what it puts out for the fans who have loyally loved and supported this group for many many years. My money stays now stays in the bank until the people involved in this release get there fingers out and give us a product that is actually worth money and not chocolate buttons. |

Of course I know all the demos that have leaked but it would be nice to have all of that in an official release with improved sound quality where possible. (THE USA got it in a Rare QUEEN COLLECTION boxed set from HOLLYWOOD RECORDS ; the green one) I had bought the CROWN JEWELS from them around 2001 and in spite of all its claims to have UNSEEN PHOTOGRAPHS *( the bare MINIMUM to be considered for BUYING A COLLECTION THAT COST OVER $100... It had and HAS none of the such. It was an embarrassing lie. The selection was cool. The hinges broke the third time I opened it. And they were all in White paper sleeves. So much for a collector's item. IT OFFERED NOTHING .... repeat. .. NOTHING NEW. I was fucked over just like any other well meaning fan. And WHEN The FM solo collection came. .. There was no edition costing less than nearly $300 including shipping and handling. This whole thing has been marketed by business owners who can't conceive of the gratitude and RESPECT that would be accorded a proper catalogue release containing rarities. Don't stand by them. I don't expect shit from them. It's SHOCKING that the RAINBOW concert has gotten a release. It's upsetting but then again in reality it's been that way since the old Anthology was being thrown around in conversation. I'm saving that for Christmas in a bad year to look forward to something (opening it on Christmas day, yes). But interestingly. Nobody holds the reigns on their material but themselves. I won't be buying stuff from QPL for a long long long time. It's inconceivable. Tired of lamenting. Let's just get fired up and get down to talking shit. That would MUCH more enjoyable. If the net is for geeks who think and care too much. Let's be a butt sore on their ass any proper ANTHOLOGY would focus on the efforts of the band and sketches, demos as well as the final tracks. It would be consummately engaging and tell the story of the band with rare excerpts. At least that's what I think. Maybe it's asking too much being a fan that BUYS THEIR ALBUMS (until the last 8 years) |

nickESB ; You may turn your nose up at "Live Killers" or "Live Magic" but it was a million times better than the awful shit(Queen Forever) that May & Taylor are putting out now. The good old regal Queen days when a new Queen album was an occasion to buy in the record shop! Memories are bliss! |
Mr. Bed Guy 08.11.2014 07:55 |
I still guess/hope/dream they put the minimum of "new songs" on this collection and held back some other tracks for a full album. I know these hopes are around for ages in us, but "hope is the last thing that dies...." (S04) btw: Orbit Mix of "Let Me In Your Heart Again" grows and grows. The more I listen to it the less I feel it to be butchered...... |
gerry 08.11.2014 08:01 |
I think if we were going to get an album full of new goodies then it would have been included on Queen Forever. It seems to me that Brian & Roger included all the other album tracks just to get the 3 new tracks on to the album. In my opinion it would have made sense to to make an e.p cd disc instead, if that is what they done this for. |
brENsKi 08.11.2014 08:13 |
except that releasing compilation albums with one or two "new" tracks on is nothing new. big bands tended to do it to get fans to re-buy a collection in order to have the new tracks |
Mr. Bed Guy 08.11.2014 08:21 |
No, Gerry, this Album was planed a long time ago as a sampler of love songs, it was never intended to be a regular studio album (although Brians and Rogers interviews over the last year sounded that way....). I think this release was forced by Universal and it needed this minimum of "new tracks" for reaching some sales. |

Freddie Jackson is a fairly well known and successful R&B singer from the 1980's- 90's Notably the guy who sang the old jam "You Are My Lady". Don't think there's MUCH relation to any other famous Jacksons though it's a possibility *(the black exodus from the south in the 30's- 50's) You'll hear him on R&B stations |

Queen Forever is just a compilation album with one new track and 2 reworked songs, so get over yourselves if you think this is acceptable to long supporting fans? Just like Absolute Queen another compilation album. These albums are mainly to sweep up new admirers of Queen and not intended for us long standing fans. You people on here still do not accept Queen have sold 300 million records and yes that is album sales as singles do not exist anymore, these figures have to be album sales. Actually they are, hence the weekly chart. It doesn't have to be a 7 inch piece of plastic. The combined record sales over the bands selling span, 1973 onwards INCLUDING the 70's and 80's when actual single sale were huge has been included in that 300 million figure. vocal harmony: Firstly there is no need to be aggressive. 300 million sales includes everything i would imagine. It still is very impressive to most artists. |

There is no way that MJ sold anywhere near 1billion records though - even if you included all his albums, singles , digital tracks, music videos and DVDs sold. He probably sold around 205-220 million albums tops - still a great total. Where the hell do the X Factor gets these figures from?! I think if you add all Queen's album sales (about 180 million from what I've seen) singles, digital tracks etc then their figure is a lot more reasonable. Oh and as for the thread title I agree entirely - it's a big fucking lie. How can shaving a few seconds off a song mean 'new takes'?! If they had just done some additional work to one of these tracks then yes they could get away with it. As it is it really does stink. |

My first thought in hearing Brian's mix of LMIYHA is that I wish he would now remix the whole of 'The Works' with that vastly improved drum sound snd enhanced bottom end!! |

So, this is a new remaster(2014) from the digital master tracks? Are the vocal tracks on MJ song just demo version(low quality)? |

from queenonline: "Says Redbeard: On Queen Forever out now, some of the tasty album tracks, B-sides, and remastered slightly different mixes of songs from their four decades of regal rock are combined with no less than three previously-unreleased Queen songs, all featuring the non-pareil voice of Freddie Mercury." It's not like "new takes on well-known songs" but better than nothing... have you noticed these "remastered slightly different mixes"? |

No. They're using the technicality that those three songs were not released by the group Queen before I guess. And it would seem that the term "remastered slightly different mixes" is really ordinary. I assume the "real stuff" beyond what we got on the remasters is being saved up for that anthology that's going to be released when we're all dead. |
