I am listening to "The Kissing Me Song" by Brian May & Kerry Ellis, what do you think? |
Wijnand 17.10.2014 02:24 |
Just a nice funny song, nothing more, nothing less... |

The acoustic guitar in it sounds very similar to the intro to QPR Surfs up schools out. |

I think most of us heared this a long time ago for the first time. Keep on making progress |

I think the kissing song is a load of crap and Brian just puts out these crap albums with Kerry Ellis. The candle lit album which was all acoustic was not the Brian we all love and i am sure that album flopped miserably. |
gerry 17.10.2014 14:21 |
before you score points i meant candle light album not candle lit album, keypad playing up. sorry guys. |

Not a bad release, fond of "Life Is Real" and a few others. Nice to find local artisans to do May / Ellis justice in concert around here, anyone ? |

The Real Wizard: Brian May has been in the business for over 40 years so he does not have to grow he knows his stuff, so quite a dumb answer. I still love May & Taylor as they are brilliant musicians but AL stops me wanting to see them again. You have to admit Kerry Ellis is boring and poor Brian has once again got lost in something that really is not him. I did prefer him with the lovely Anita Dobson. |

Yeah, he knows his stuff, but that doesn't mean he can't or shouldn't grow and try new things. Weren't Queen all about breaking boundaries and trying new things? Also, the guy who performs with Kerry Ellis is the Brian we know and love, like it or not. And I don't understand how his stuff with Kerry "isn't him." Why would he do something at this point in his career that he doesn't want to do? |

Gerry, so GE, did you actually go to any of the acoustic candle light shows? The reason I ask is because you yet again seem to have formed an opinion while being totally uninformed about what you are writing |

It's impossible to sit at a concert and watch Brian play live for 90 minutes and not enjoy it, he's a master. For my money though, everything these two have put down on record is incredibly boring and uninspired. Brian's whole solo career has been pretty naff if you ask me, Starfleet Project is the only record that regularly gets a listen in my house, whereas all of Roger's solo & Cross albums get regular spins, except Shove It.. |

Back To The Light is pretty darned good if you ask me.........title track is a sorta Queenish power ballad, nicely done..........Resurrection is just poundingly heavy.......etc, etc............n I actually like his vocals on Too Much Love more than Freddie's on MIH.........Another World, I dont like quite as much, but its still good.........mainly cus the title track kinda brings the whole thing down for me.............. |

Is it a good thing if a musician stays the same for an entire career? It may be great to see Brian in Queen, but surely it's his prerogative to try something different, get out of a rut, approach music in a different way. If I played Queen songs all the time, would that satisfy me? I certainly don't think so, so why would Brian be any different? Now, he may have had 'iffy' moments, shall we say(dappy springs to mind, along with the near collaboration with Psy), but he, at least, seems to be having fun, along with getting payed well of course. :) |

It does have some good tracks on it, i'll give you that, but it also just sounds like a middling Queen album with inferior vocals IMO. Another World I think is really quite poor overall. I never liked Brian's voice for main vocals, I just don't think it is strong enough. The less said about Furia the better, although it was better than the film... Mind you, I saw the Brian May Band a bunch of times around the BTLL tour, and they kicked ass, they were doing very good shows. I really enjoy most of Roger's solo stuff, especially Blue Rock, which I think is far and away the best solo project anyone from Queen has been involved in, although I gather he was less involved with this album than the others. But one of the things I like about Roger's stuff, it is very much him. It doesn't sound like Queen at all a lot of it, whereas much of Brian's solo material sounds like inferior Queen product that is missing Freddie. All just an opinion of course! |

My view is that Brian had some crackers, Usually the heavier stuff. Back to the Light the song, Resurrection, Cyborg are some good examples. He was great at metalling out. The moochy stuff is where I usually get off, although TMLWKY and Just One Life were lovely tracks too. |
