link Listen to the preview at about 0:58 ---> Get hyped Still no piano, but his voice is much clearer, and the drums sound better. |
Nitroboy 09.10.2014 06:12 |
Okay, so they fixed the sound balance; but Freddie's vocal still sounds weak compared to the old version, it sounds like he's constantly short of breath. |
tomchristie22 09.10.2014 06:14 |
That's true. Does it sound like a post production thing? Or could he have just sang it like that for a couple of takes, which they decided to use. I guess he never sounds so airy on any other recording... |
emrabt 09.10.2014 06:18 |
It's fixed in the same way you fix a cat. |
Oscar J 09.10.2014 07:02 |
I think these vocals are miles better than on the Mr. Bad Guys version. He even hits the "C'est la vieeeee" note with full voice instead of that awkward sounding falsetto. |

I like these more! One question, the footage of 0:52 where it comes from? I assume is from a '80 or a '81 show right, maybe Morumbi? |
k-m 09.10.2014 09:28 |
Way better than the BBC version. I can feel a slightly ethereal aura in the promo video. Kinda cool. |

Im not sure they did fixed, it seems that we are just listening a version with a little bit more quality than the broadcasted tracks, which is evident (at least to my ears) in LK and LMIYHA too. I know it because I downloaded the 3 songs and compared it to the official preview. Also since there's MJ's voice is not on the official preview there's no way to know if they fixed it or if Moby's lame mix is still present. |

I don't think there was ever any chance of them using Brian and Roger's mix. I'll take this less offensive version of the Orbit mix as a victory. |

It was always a lightweight song ! No mixing in the world would make it any better. |

Unless there must be a John Deacon remix, which could make it better. But then again it is only a rumour that John made a remix, isn't it? |

It's funny that the video snippets from the TRAILER are actually more interesting than this compilation of old songs. The trailer is better than the album! Where are we going, lord. LOL |

I've just heard TMBMTLTT on the BBC2 Ken Bruce show and they're still using the version originally presented on the Chris Evans show. It seems that we will to wait until the album release to hear the "fixed/corrected" version. |

has it been officially confirmed by someone that this track has been fixed and if so by whom? |
tomchristie22 15.10.2014 07:31 |
queenside wrote: has it been officially confirmed by someone that this track has been fixed and if so by whom?Just listen to the one in the trailer and the one originally broadcasted side by side - the volume of Freddie's voice is the noticeable difference. Of course, this goes on the assumption that the one in the trailer is the one that will appear on the final album. Also, edited the caps out of the thread title because I was overexcited considering how slight a change it turned out to be. |

Never thought i'd say this, but based on the iTunes sample, the drum sound makes the original drum sound on Mr Bad Guy sound brilliant! It's horrific, and I'm very doubtful it's actually Roger playing, but it actually a programmed part by Mr Orbit. |

Oh right - It'll be interesting to hear the full track in lossless; the sample sounds absolutely atrocious. I can't beli be that Brian, Roger and Jim have conceded to include a mix that they have publicly declared that they are unhappy with, rather than stand their ground and not use the track. |

That would require them to admit making a bad decision to begin with, and actually do do some work on their own song (gasp!) instead of just laughing all the way to the back. |

They've been building up to Freddie + Michael songs for a very long time now. It seems like it's gotten to a point where this mix of this particular song is the only thing Jackson's estate are willing to have released. They'd probably rather give the expectant audiences something, even if it's subpar, than give nothing at all after a few years of hype. |
tero! 48531 26.10.2014 06:49 |
And that makes it all seem better for the customers? "We HAVE to release the version which neither we or our listeners want, because without it we couldn't sell the pointless compilation." |
flash00. 29.10.2014 12:18 |
Who knows the Jackson clan may release there own versions of these songs with better promo-video as Brian and Roger's ideas seem completely unable to get past picture slide shows for most of the stuff they put out, unsure about anyone else but there are many on YouTube who make better videos matching vocals to many different Queen concert footage which must take them ages. |
