Sucks |

If they rework a lot of tracks from this setlist, could be a good deal, actually. I'd love to listen to a recriation of '39 with some different takes, or something like this. A Winter's Tale too. But we gotta wait and see! So, is it confirmed that it's going to be this setlist? Since it is from Amazon, I guess so... |
LucasDiego 18.09.2014 20:43 |
good setlist, very excited for this!! |
Wiley 18.09.2014 20:48 |
The track list is so random. I like the concept of that image on the cover but the execution kind of reminds me of those cheap Walmart exclusives like the A to Z of Queen or Queen at the Opera or those 20th Century Music compilations. Packaging should make the difference. By the description, I expect a book like the Absolute Queen one. Amazon liner notes refer to reworked songs but I assume it refers exclusively to Love Kills and TMBMTLTT. I'm not holding my breath for any other tracks having been reworked. |
brunogorski 18.09.2014 20:50 |
Well, at least the cover isn't "QUEEN FOREVER" and a pic of FREDDIE alone. HAHAHAHA |

What happened to May's description about the the remaining songs on the Queen Forever album as being "unusual" and originating from the existing studio albums. :( |
AlexRocks 18.09.2014 21:11 |
The selections are unusual for a compilation. They do originate from the original studio LPs! :). This release is excellent! What a great and fascinating track listing! The cover looks amazing too! I am totally psyched for this! |

I hope we'll finally receive true standalone versions of Nevermore and Lily Of The Valley on CD. Actually another let down from QPL... There will be no impact at all with such tracklist especially back to back with Floyd's 'Endless River'. |

Just listening to Bri & Rog on Chris Evans breakfast show, what strikes me straight away is Brian playing the same guitar break on every track, he used to be an innovator, but now he's so predictable ! Didn't like tmbmtltt, but lmiyha excellent, Freddie sounds so alive and vibrant on it, love kills likewise ! Its just a shame they didn't create a full new album, it was doable, with the b sides that they could have reworked, and the two of them could have recorded 2 or 3 new songs, an opportunity missed. |

Press Release: Queen Forever QUEEN FOREVER Queen Bring Back Freddie New ‘Queen Forever’ CD Collection Brings New Freddie Mercury Tracks to Light RELEASED NOVEMBER 10TH 2014 Three previously unreleased Queen tracks featuring late singer Freddie Mercury spearhead an exciting new Queen album, Queen Forever, due November 10th 2014 on the Virgin Records label. The tracks include a long anticipated track from Queen and Michael Jackson, There Must Be More to Life Than This, a previously unfinished Mercury-Queen track Let Me In Your Heart Again originating from the band’s The Works album recording sessions, and a scorching new stripped-down ballad version of Mercury’s first solo hit, his Giorgio Moroder collaboration, Love Kills. The rest of the package brings together Queen hits, classic tracks, and new takes on well-known songs, matched with band recordings Brian May describes as “things that we have collected together that are representative of our growth rather than the big hits” in a collection immaculately assembled by May and Roger Taylor themselves. The tracks are all linked to represent a definitive collection of Queen’s timeless love songs. Queen Forever is available as a 20-track single CD and as an extended 36-track, two-CD set, and celebrates the extraordinary musical path of one of the world’s greatest rock bands. Anticipation for these new Mercury tracks has been high since May and Taylor first hinted earlier this year that new tracks featuring Mercury were being explored. Speaking at the press conference to launch their North American concert tour with singer Adam Lambert earlier in the year, May said: "There was a little bit more in the can that we had overlooked for a long time, so we have a few songs which we're working on right now. Freddie sounds as fresh as yesterday." On the subject, Taylor said: “We’ve got some great new tracks that haven’t been heard and there’s an interesting selection of older stuff.” The Queen and Michael Jackson duet, There Must Be More to Life Than This, began as a song written by Mercury during sessions for Queen’s 1981 album, Hot Space. The band recorded a backing track, but the song was never completed. Mercury visited Michael Jackson at his home studio in Los Angeles where he recorded Jackson singing the song for an unfinished version. Queen revived the track during sessions for 1984’s The Works, but again it was not finished. A year later, Freddie’s own version of the song surfaced on his debut solo album, 1985’s Mr Bad Guy. This new production of the powerful ballad fuses Queen’s original backing track and Mercury and Jackson’s distinctive vocals, and has been produced and remixed by celebrated Madonna/Robbie Williams producer William Orbit. Talking of his involvement, Orbit say: “I had known Roger for many years, now he was on the phone asking if I would get involved in this musical adventure. “When I first played it in my studio I opened a trove of delights provided by the greatest of musicians. Hearing Michael Jackson's vocals was stirring. So vivid, so cool, and poignant, it was like he was in the studio singing live. With Freddie's vocal solo on the mixing desk, my appreciation for his gift was taken to an even higher level." “The musicianship of all four members of Queen is phenomenal. Roger, an extraordinarily multi talented man I've always admired. John Deacon's original bass part with its lyrical fluidity that made it easy for me to know where to put the odd reinforcement. Freddie's original piano carried most of the song's musical DNA. Brian, one take for the solo, a blur of fingers, and the spirits of MJ and FM fully present, in the moment, sending shivers down the spine.” Perhaps the biggest revelation on Queen Forever is Brian May’s composition, Let Me In Your Heart Again. The song was first recorded by Queen for The Works album, but not completed at the time and has remained overlooked since then. An authentic, live-in-the-studio track from the same golden age as Radio Ga Ga and I Want To Break Free, this never-before-heard Queen track shows off Freddie’s timeless vocals and features newly recorded guitar parts and new backing vocals from Brian and Roger. This thrilling track finally reaches us nearly 30 years after Freddie first laid down his original vocal. The third new track, Love Kills, was composed by Freddie Mercury and famed German producer/songwriter Giorgio Moroder for the soundtrack to Moroder’s newly restored and tinted version of Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic silent movie Metropolis in 1984 to which he added a pop soundtrack featuring various music artists. Mercury recorded a high-energy dance version of the song that became his debut solo hit in 1985. However, it is less well known that all four members of Queen played on the original track. Prior to Queen embarking on their recent tour with lead singer Adam Lambert, Brian May proposed performing an acoustic ballad version of Love Kills, which became one of the most memorable moments of the current Queen & Adam Lambert shows. This new Queen-Freddie studio version is shaped in the same ballad style and revives the Queen original with some newly recorded guitars and drums by May and Taylor, becoming a glorious showcase for one of Freddie’s most adrenaline-charged vocal performances. Alongside this new material, both the one and two-CD versions of Queen Forever feature songs that spotlight the band’s songwriting prowess, studio experimentation and remarkable development. It’s a timely reminder that, almost uniquely in the world of rock and pop, all four members of Queen were accomplished songwriters and superlatively gifted musicians. Queen Forever reaches back as far as 1974 with fan favourite Nevermore, a Freddie Mercury song originally included on Queen II, the album that first saw Queen use the recording studio as an instrument in its own right. From the same year comes the dramatic power ballad In The Lap Of The Gods… Revisited, once the grand finale of any Queen show, and since revived by Queen & lead singer Adam Lambert on their 2014 tour. Meanwhile, the upbeat single, You’re My Best Friend, written by bass guitarist John Deacon, showcased Queen’s poppier side and was released as the follow-up to 1975’s Bohemian Rhapsody, becoming a Top 10 UK and Top 20 US hit in the same year and gave John Deacon his first Queen hit single. Elsewhere, 1977’s Long Away remains the only Queen single to feature Brian May on lead vocals; and the same year’s B-side Drowse includes a rare Queen performance from Roger Taylor on guitar. Queen saw out the decade with a run of hits that included the gospel-flavoured Somebody To Love, memorably performed by Queen and George Michael at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992, and finished on a high with ‘79’s US Number 1 hit, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, an exuberant rockabilly pop song composed by Freddie Mercury in the bath in Munich. By touching on prog rock, gospel, acoustic balladry, Elvis-style rock’n’roll and more, these songs alone encapsulate Queen’s diversity in the 1970s. However, the band threw out the rulebook completely in the decades that followed, embracing funk, hard rock, soul and pure pop, but always sounding unmistakably Queen. The band used synthesizers for the first time on 1980’s Play The Game single; Freddie sang some of his vocals in Spanish on the 1982 hit Las Palabras De Amor, and 1986’s One Year Of Love featuring unusually a saxophone. The album is completed by latter-day Queen hits, including ’91’s no. 1 These Are The Days Of Our Lives and ‘95’s Too Much Love Will Kill You, together with the poignant A Winter’s Tale, recorded during Freddie Mercury’s final Queen recording sessions in Montreux in 1991. |
cmi 19.09.2014 04:24 |
Queen Forever is both a showcase for these exclusive new recordings, but also an enduring tribute to the extraordinary musical achievements of John Deacon, Brian May, Roger Taylor and the late, great Freddie Mercury whose singular talent we can again get to marvel at with the arrival of these previously unheard tracks. Queen Forever. Forever? Who can tell? But for now we can be certain that this highly rewarding collection of Queen new, rare, and at their most accomplished, more than serves to uphold the band’s indisputable place in music history and is certain to earn a prized place in music collections for a long time to come. Queen certainly rates in the top among Britain’s favourite bands. The UK’s Official Charts Company earlier this year confirmed Queen’s 1981 Greatest Hits album as Britain’s best-selling album of all time all after surpassing the 6 million sales milestone. A staggering one in three British households now own a copy of the iconic act’s original best-of collection. And if 6 million sales isn’t enough for the band, Queen’s follow-up, Greatest Hits II, which was released in October 1991 also rides high at Number 10 in the all-time Official Albums Chart, having notched up a further 3.9 million UK sales to date. |

It was interesting to hear Brian say that tmbmtltt was not their original mix ! Does this mean Jacko's estate objected to it and insisted on a William Orbit mix ? And maybe they didn't like the Queen treatment of SOS, therefore its absence from the album ? |

Let me in your heart again is a b side.....only save by Freddie. Love Kills, horrible remix. The song with Michael I like it, is the only I think is better than the others. The cover is nice. The rest.....the old same song over and over again. Even the concept of ballads compilation is wrong. I mean, what ballad is I was born to love you or Crazy Little Thing Called Love. If they say, love songs, well, I think more than the 70% of songs, by any band, are about love or sex ;) |
cmsdrums 19.09.2014 06:17 |
I like the cover artwork... interesting to see a mix of eras used...Freddie from 81 (looks like a GH 1 shot?), Roger 76 ish, Brian about the same; not sure on John but maybe late 70s? |

Sadly all three tracks are over-produced with far too much going on that detracts from the vocals. I've loved "Let me In" since I first heard it on Anita's album and always felt that Freddie could have sung it. Greg Brooks announced at Convention about 9 or 10 years ago that he'd found the Queen version of this song with Freddie singing and he said it was a finished track, but what we have been presented with here is NOT that track but a 'reworking'. If only they'd kept it simple like Anita's version it would have been great. Instead, I was left utterly disappointed. HOWEVER, I've lowered the volume of the music and brought Freddie's vocals out of the mix and now it's much better and I'm enjoying now. Might try that with the others and see if it helps. |

Oh dear, oh deary dear indeed. I really did get excited about this and I'm really not impressed. I don't come on here and post anything negative but this just isn't very good. Saying that, Let me in is a delight to hear, although it is what I would consider an album track, a B side maybe. But I love it, it's something new from Freddie and his vocals are typically wonderful (although I could live without the American phrasing). However, Love Kills is an unnecessary re-working of a track I really like normally. Of all the re-mixes, re-workings this one is probably my least favourite. It just doesn't work. I would have much preferred to have heard the original Queen demo. I heard the Lambert version and really liked it, which made me look forward to this. I think it could have worked but I just don't like the production, it sounds naff. A huge disappointment. TMBMTLTT could have worked well, but again it sounds awful in my opinion. I'm not moaning for the sake of moaning, i don't think the original is sacred and should never be touched, it just sounds shit. It's badly mixed, over produced, horrible. I wouldn't care if I never heard it again. I was all for this album, I truly was, but apart from Let Me In it's not great and I really believe it could have been. I've been getting fucked off with everyone bashing Brian and Roger on here but I think some of these people have a point. I'm here because I love the music these guys have produced over the years, I'm a very passionate fan and have been for decades. I hate to say it but I feel a wee bit embarrassed by two of the tracks I've just heard. Mr Deacon, I think you made the right decision and I respect you for it. |
k-m 19.09.2014 07:03 |
I agree, the new tracks are a let down. Unfortunately. Let Me in Your Heart is definitely the best and is the only track which sounds cohesive enough. Freddie's vocals are a joy. Love Kills - was it recorded as a ballad originally?? Freddie's vocals sound too fast to my ear! It doesn't sound natural, the way that Lambert's live version did. Not too mention the horrible sound effects and over-production. And finally, the duet. What a fucking mess, it sounds worse than demo version and only picks up in the last few instrumental seconds. Jackson's vocals sound like they were just thrown in there, terrible. Not sure what they did to other, old songs, but I fucking hope they didn't touch them!! The cover is good, but I am not sure if they were right to keep the love theme throughout. It was never going to be anything better than a distillation of "Deep Cuts" trilogy, but they should have thrown in a few dynamic, meaty tracks. Oh well, at least we got one new decent Freddie track and probably can rest assured that the vaults have indeed been cleared now. |
Marknow 19.09.2014 07:33 |
TMBMTLTT is painful, neither Fred nor Wacko would have released it like this, the vocal is too low in the mix and ALL of the instrumentation sounds like filler or painting by numbers. Very average. |

Brian always talked about "some" unheard tracks they had found in the archives. Well, "Queen Forever" only features one really unheard track. "Queen Forever" seems to be a compromise. Some "new" but not all of the "new" I guess "Queen Forever" is a taster for getting Queen back in people's minds again and next summer or fall we will get a whole "new" Album in style of "Made in Heaven". |

William Orbit has screwed with Freddie's voice on TMBMTLTT too. Love Kills is alright though. Better than the outdated 80's arrangements. Not sure what to make of Let Me In Your Heart Again... it's okay I guess. |

TMBMTLTT grew on me a little after few listens, but it still sounds quite odd. I'm not surprised if Jacko estate was meddling with the release but I still can't believe how such a producer can make it sound so off. I like the strings though, makes it sound a little like Lennon song. But like many said, Freddie's voice is mixed strangely and where is that piano Orbit talked about in the press release? For me the piano really was the key element in the original version. Also Brian's guitar "fills" sound really half-assed, it's like he's not even trying to be creative anymore. Love Kills is ok, sounds a lot better than the live version with Adam, though the vocals don't really fit at moments (naturally as the original version was double tempo). I think it still is decent but I prefer the faster, cold and synthetic original 80's version as it was meant to be :-) And like many said LMIYHA is clearly the winner here, it's the only song that sounds natural, like it's the four Queens just playing in the studio (altough it features again Brian's pointless guitar fills). I think the song is not on par with other Queen songs but it still is uplifting and Freddie gives amazing performance, brought almost tears in my eyes! So I think LMIYHA and TMBMTLTT features John on bass, does anyone know who plays on Love Kills? And how big part of these songs is recorded recently (Love Kills apparently is brand new recording except for vocals)? |

When asked about "Queen Forever" earlier this year, Roger said very clearly there was certainly not enough material to warrant a new album in the style of MIH. Besides, do you really think such perfectionists as Queen would forget about or lose some valuable tracks in the recording process? The alleged discovery of Queen's version of LMIYHA is a miracle indeed. |

Well, the only song that really thrills me is "Let Me In Your Heart Again"... a really good old Queen feeling. The Jackson duett is a disaster in my ears. Why the hell the new songs are released wide before their release date on radio? The cover art looks really great and for the collector's heart 2 CD versions are fine... hope for a later vinyl release. |

There Must Be More To Life Than This is a disappointment. It's not horrible, but it's over-produced, and the piano is missing, which, as was said above, was a key element of the song. The ending is nice though. Let Me In (Your Heart Again) is beautiful, and I was super happy to hear a new Queen song. Love Kills, I really love, and I'm not too sure if I like this new one more! I'm hoping they re-did some of the other tracks. Hope for a vinyl release! |

first of all: THANKS for providing those tracks as a preview of things to come ! now. most of it has been said. "there must be more to life than this" is a huge disappointment. not only for featuring that wacko. but for being somewhat pointless. it WOULD have worked out as a queen-only version. but this beautiful song suffers from a lack of brave ideas, musically. yes. it has some queen-trademarks. but the intro alone kills it all. uninspired. and: yes it reminded me of some lennon-song aswell. some very average "love kills" to be honest, i was kind of excited to hear that version. but it is what it is. a remix. a good one. but the vocals don't fit the music. and the synthie-part sucks big time. when i was listening to the live-version i thought, the middle-eight could be a killer like under pressure for the psycho-acoustic moment. but it's far away from that. it's powerful. yes. but the mix is not as powerful as i expected it to be. wonderful vocals and wonderful music which simply don't go together. the guitar solo is somewhat pointless... *grrr* whatever. i liked the live-version with glambert more. because it's more honest. "let me in your heart again" offers some REAL queen magic. one could state the guitar solo has been taken from hammer to fall... but who cares. that will be the reason they didn't publish it back then, won't it ? the vocals are quite ok but somehow remind me more of a joe cocker song. quality-wise i would speak of that song in the same breath as the original version of "my life has been saved". nothing too spectacular. but nice to listen to. once in a while. overall this little package is quite a big disappointment. comparing it with the quality of made in heaven it has very less in common. except for being over-produced. it's rather sad that only three "new" queenifized songs see the light of day. on the other hand. well... couldn't stand more of some that are produced like that. imho BM & RT should visit the studio and produce NEW stuff. AND TAKE THEIR TIME!!! they surely are able to do so. and they have a good singer in their team, lately. (never would have thought that i write something like that about a new queen-release, though...) |

Still can't understand why the hell Bri and Roger played in the radio the only three important stuff from this release. Floyd announced The Endless River MONTHS ago and didn't leaked even a SECOND of music from the album. It should be done this way. We don't know how's gonna be the tracklist, how it gonna sound and stuff like this. Now I already know the three "new" songs from Forever and... Meh. Still curious about what they're gonna do, if they'll re-work some stuff (Somebody to Love with alternate takes would sound cool), but I'm not hunger anymore to this release, I guess. :/ |

As for the 'new' songs, this now confirms for me that Queen, or should I say Roger and Brian have ruined Queen's legacy. The tracks are truly awful and very substandard. Also going back to the radio show this morning, whoever Roger and Brian's researcher is, didn't do their homework on them appearing with the British comedian Lee Mack. Who in his autobiography he absolutely slated Queen in great detail for playing Sun City in South Africa in the 80's. Or did they know and felt that their new product had to be promoted? |

(...)I cant understand how 3 songs and a few compilations (and an album with Paul Rodgers) can damage Queen's legacy: Made in Heaven is an amazing album, sold lots of copies. The live albums and compilations are unavoidable, it happens whether a musician is alive or dead: Frank Sinatra, Hendrix, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones or Iron Maiden come to my mind. The Q+PR tours were a success. The Q+AL tours were critically and economically a success. Greatest Hits is still selling a lot, an impressive feat considering it was released more than 30 years ago. Considering the low points: 1 regular album (TCR) a horrible 1 song collaboration (+5ive, Wycleff) and 1 regular very irrelevant collaboration (+Robbie Williams, which was relevant just because John Deacon didnt liked it) I cant understand how can Queen's legacy "is ruined" |
Adam Baboolal 19.09.2014 13:25 |
My thoughts are fairly similar to most people here. TMBMTLTT is William Orbit's take on things and I'm not into it. I mean, the change from Freddie to MIchael at 1:20 is quite amateuristic on Mr Orbit's part. I think someone else on here put it well when they said that, anyone kid in their bedroom could've done a job than this! Brian's guitars also irked me a fair bit on this one. So needless at times and devoid of much creative playing. After Brian produced Kerry's last album a while back, I was looking forward to his guitar work on these tracks. Sadly, this first one was a big disappointment. Oh, and, it's worth noting that Brian and Roger did a version/mix of this one which they prefer, but it's not on the forthcoming album. THAT in itself is very, very interesting. People should pay attention to that and enquire further! However, then came Let Me In Your Heart. Straight away, I started smiling and it was a joy to listen to. All I can say is, I really enjoyed it and it was nice to hear something that sounded authentically Queen. Nuff said. Finally, Love Kills. After hearing the newer version during the live shows (through youtube videos), it wasn't a surprise. BUT, I still really, really enjoy the different take on the song. As I listened, I was amazed at the amount of work they'd put into it. And overall, I think it works. A very nice take on the song. So, it's not a full album of new tracks, ala Made In Heaven, but, Bri and Rog (or was it the press release?) did mention that some tracks are a "different take" on things. I wonder what this means. Curiousity peaked :) |
BETA215 19.09.2014 13:53 |
^ To me, that different takes in TMBMTLTT, are made from the original takes + AutoTune. To me, that are unreal "new" takes. I would love to see the BM+RT mix in the CD 2. To make it really deluxe. Also, I will love to hear a bit of those different takes. So I'm agree with you, Mr. Baboolal. EDIT: Maybe, if Bri and Rog make like Brian made with I'm Scared, they will release the BRI+ROG mix in a single. |

Some people are already writing to Will. Orbit (bashing him) and to Brian (alarming him and convincing to do sth e.g. with suggestions of pulling this mix out of the release). If I'd be someone in charge of the whole Queen Forever project and faced such situation in which I'd have to put this particular mix, then I'd release W.Orbit's mix on cd 1 and Queen's mix on cd 2 and underlined it graphically so people would see what does it mean to treat one's work seriously and with respect (we can assume that Brian's mix of TMBMTLTT is wayyy better than what we've heard from Mr Orbit). I'm really disappointed that we have here *for real* only one unreleased track and two reworked. The whole bloody project was announced back in 11' or even earlier. They had plenty of time to rework "I guess we're falling out", "face it alone", FM demos from the Solo Box-set etc. On the other hand Queen extravaganza, Kerry Ellis and Adam Lambert have gone in the way so it is what it is and not what it could be. Do you think we can (by comments, response) change the tracklist as we successfully did it with the deluxe edition of the Miracle (2011 remaster) ? |

I agree with the poster that said the 2nd preferred version of TMBMTLTT should have been included on the 2nd disc of the 'deluxe' version of the album as they sure have the disc space and unless they are releasing 'alternate' takes of 'well-known' songs I'm sure we'd all prefer to listen to that then one of eighteen tracks we've already got (possibly many times over!) I just think recording isn't really where they're at anymore. The enthusiasm has either diminished or gone completely. We all know this project has been going since at least 2011 and there has been much talk about how excited Brian was to be working with this stuff and the wonder of pro-tools. Surely there must be other stuff on there that shows this off? I also find it a bit laughable that 2 members of a band that is as big as Queen either don't have the confidence or balls to go with their own preferred mix of a track and decide to go with a trendy producer instead hoping it will appeal to the 'kids' out there. I still think LMIYHA is great though and would have suited The Works perfectly if it had been included. |

I agree, those old unfinished songs and a few new songs would have been great. Even a better version of the Jackson track. It's a shame because Queen Forever is getting mentioned on the radio here in Ny as something interesting. the Jackson duet is bringing attention to this release, unfortunately, this version of the song sucks. the original was pretty good. Let Me In Your Heart Again is, simply, INCREDIBLE - its a real joy to be listening to something genuinely new and interesting. Added to The Rainbow, we're very lucky to be getting this. There Must Be More To Life Than This - just goes to prove that Michael Jackson had a truly watery, weak, SHITTY voice. Very disappointed that so much effort has been put in to this version as opposed to a re-work of the track from Mr. Bad guy. Love Kills - the worst re-working of a song I've ever heard - there was nothing wrong with the original from Mr. Bad Guy and could have benefitted from being an up-tempo re-working a-la I Was Born To Love You, but, with Roger and Brian at the moment, its hardly surprisng that this falls short. The album(s) - interesting compilation of tracks but I'm sure we've all made our own 'interesting' compilations through the years, haven't we. Certainly won't be buying it but will happily download Let Me In Your Heart Again unless its made available as a single. |

Let Me In Your Heart Again is just great. I love that it still sounds like a Works-era Queen track and you can't even tell where the new stuff has been added. There Must Be More to Life Than This is my least favorite of the three. William Orbit does some great work; but not with this. First off, Michael Jackson was, in my opinion, a great vocalist when it came to tracks like "Thriller" and "Bad" where he used his harder voice. His ballad voice depended on how well his producers mixed around it. William Orbit exposes how weak it was here. Being next to Freddie's voice doesn't help. But this doesn't even sound like a Queen track. Hopefully there's enough requests from the fans to hear the mix Brian & Roger did that they'll decide to release it as a bonus track on the album. Love Kills - I always really liked this song. I know that it sounds very dated to the '80's, but Freddie just has a great vocal on it. When I first heard of Brian & Roger re-visiting this song, I liked the idea. But I thought they'd keep the up-beat idea of the instrumentation. This just does not work as a ballad, especially with Freddie's vocals. I would have started it off as what we're hearing in the ballad version and built it up to be really heavy (think "Hammer to Fall" on Return of the Champions) and out-rock the rock mix on the Freddie box set. Have Brian solo the crap out of the song before bringing Freddie back in to taking the song home. And speaking of rock, where are the heavier songs in the tracklisting? No "It's Late," "Sheer Heart Attack," or "Man on the Prowl?" |
bucsateflon 20.09.2014 06:09 |
"LOVE KILLS" disco version an unworthy song for the "Queen" name and now with this mix, it is a true "Queen" song. |

I must agree with the points made about Brian's guitar playing. I remember when Brian used to carefully compose and arrange his playing but since the late 90s he seems to just turn up and do it in one take. A few high up the fretboard screechy widdly bits and then some parallel harmonies. He seems to put absolute minimal effort into everything he does these days (unless saving badgers) and just sounds like he can't be bothered. |

I really love your video Kacio! Such a great Queen song... and hopefully there will be another release with all the other tracks Bri talked about last year. In my mind they DO exist. Forever is just a compilation no more to expect from this one. LMIYHA is a retake from a song that already existed, like the 2 other "new" tracks. I truly believe they will do someting more with real unreleased takes this time. Those that Bri was talking about and are from the begining of 80's. In my opinion, Rainbow stuff and Forever are too close for them to release the Queen album. If we think in a marketing way, It's not "time to market" for the New Queen album. They have to build the big bang, and we, fans have to wait a little. |

dudeofqueen wrote: Let Me In Your Heart Again is, simply, INCREDIBLE - its a real joy to be listening to something genuinely new and interesting. Certainly won't be buying it but will happily download Let Me In Your Heart Again unless its made available as a single.Shitty voice? Odds are he was LEARNING the song and would imagine variations for a different recording date. Michael had diametrically opposite singing styles. One whisper sweet and silky ala Aaron Neville/Curtis Mayfield. The other scornful angry and grating....ala his rock/James Brown ish voice. Listen to stuff like "History", "Earth Song", "Ghosts" "remember the time" and say he's had a shitty voice. Hah! Anyways. If this is the final mix it's horrible. There's no rapport together and its as if there are two songs in one. A choppy blasphemous destruction of a song |

So this album of new material turns out to be a fu.. erhm... fri... a nifty little compilation album that re-sells old material accompanied by the odd new track every now and then. Who didn't see that one coming? Oh my, so shocked. How could they do this to us... and still no re-working of The Man in the Shadows :( Now we all know they still have stuff in the vaults they can re-work and re-release with new hits packages, so I guess we'll be fed with this same old same old for eternity. Oh well, there are other artists to listen to. |
tomchristie22 22.09.2014 06:10 |
What on earth does it mean by 'with fade'? |
MrFunster 22.09.2014 06:17 |
Remaster 2014, could be different to 2011. I hope some other instruments have been used. |
tomchristie22 22.09.2014 06:42 |
The 2014 remaster stuff definitely sounds hopeful - at least something new, and on gems like Drowse, Spread Your Wings and Save Me! |

A new remaster for some tracks? So basically they've done that for some of the tracks that originally featured fades into other tracks as they had to produce standalone versions. Other than that if it is purely a new mastering rather than a remix, demo, or alternate take then count me out. |
tomchristie22 22.09.2014 07:00 |
New mastering is still better than nothing new at all |
MercurialFreddie 22.09.2014 07:05 |
Can someone confirm if there is (in the archives) Queen version of "I dream of Christmas" ? I'd hoped that we will get to hear it as the album initially was planned as a near X-mass release. |
MrFunster 22.09.2014 07:16 |
I think dream of x-mas will be the bside of let me in your heart again. |

A while back, I wrote here that I'd be satisfied with only one new Queen song, but now I feel a bit dissapointed because there IS only one new song (at least if the track listings are correct). From the interviews with Brian and Roger, I thought we were getting much more(!) after all this time. But maybe...! At least the new song seems all right after hearing it about 25 times - wonderful to hear something "new" from Freddie Mercury and Queen. |
cmsdrums 22.09.2014 08:43 |
I can't believe that neither Brian or Roger, nor the press release, mentioned that LMIYHA is actually a cover of an Anita Dobson track - I bet she's fuming!! :-) |
cmsdrums 22.09.2014 08:54 |
I recall a few years ago that Greg Brooks, when talking about the archives and the lack of an anthology release, was absolutely raving about the archives, and said something along the lines of there being a track that no one had heard, featuring the whole band, that was just superb, would leave us all speechless with its brilliance, and was a guaranteed No 1 smash hit single if it ever saw the light of day. Now, I'm assuming that it simply can't be 'Let Me In Your Heart Again', as whilst that's an ok song and it's fabulous to hear Freddie soaring again, there's nothing particularly spectacular about it either song or performance wise (and the song itself was already known due to Brian's version with Anita). So......in theory we have something superb yet to look forward to (God, I'm ever the optimist aren't I?!!) |
MercurialFreddie 22.09.2014 09:06 |
In theory yes, but why didn't they dust off "I dream of Christmas" ? |
