I know Greg Brooks has denied a studio recording exists but maybe they have a live rendition in the archives? |
Vocal harmony 11.09.2014 09:32 |
I think both exist. Greg In The Past said that there was no proof that The Fairy Fellers Master Stroke was played live, let alone recorded. |

I agree. |

I still struggle to wonder why some of these songs are so revered like they are extra special? I've heard all the boots and IMO (only) I don't really rate it as a song that is particularly any good. Boo, hiss, smite me....etc..... Just don't 'get' it all? |

I recall that someone sold an acetate back to QPL |
inu-liger 12.09.2014 01:07 |
On the contrary; the most recent official QPL position on this acetate was that they had made contact, asked for any proof of any kind (eg. Song sample, picture of the disc), to which they were met with silence. That's the story I last heard straight from their reps. |

I thought they recorded some of the Japan 75' tour which we know from bootlegs they did awesome version of Hangman on May 1,1975 |

Just don't 'get' it all?I guess the thing with Hang Man is that it's the one that got away. We know it was played live, but a definitive studio version eludes us. I imagine that if, if recorded, and produced to the same standard as something like March of The Black Queen it would be worth a listen. Still all the studio work in the world can't make a song a better song, just more interesting to listen too. |
Negative Creep 12.09.2014 11:15 |
I don't think it is "so revered like they are extra special". It's a great song as far as I'm concerned, and people are naturally interested in hearing a version in decent quality. Whether an acetate of a studio version exists is unknown, as the person who claims to have one apparently refuses to even post a photograph of it - which must surely make most people suspect of the claim. Why tell QPL that you have such an item, then refuse to provide any proof that it exists and therefore cutting of any possible discussion? That the guy is a known collector is meaningless. If an an acetate does exist, it could quite easily be a live take mixed with no room ambience/audience mix - easily done. And as mentioned before, it is unlikely that if the band did record it in the studio that it isn't there in the archives. |

No it's not Bohemian Rhapsody part 2 BUT like someone else said, it's an original Queen song that "got away." No verified studio recording, exists only in poor quality bootleg form, etc. Besides, I happen to really dig the song, it has a crunchy guitar riff that sticks in your head IMO. |

The lyrics are so bad they must have been written by Roger. |

Greg Brooks is a fucking idiot; too many people hang on his every word as if he's some kind of deity in the hope that he'll give them some exclusive snippet of information. Look at the accuracy of the "official" work that he's paid to produce and you'll get an idea of how legitimate his thoughts are. |
ouhsammy 13.09.2014 04:02 |
I heard a live version from 1973. |

An instance must be The Rainbow - as is proved by the master reels photographs, the tapes for both audio and video have been clearly held in the archives for years and are not amongst the 'lost' tapes or those returned more recently. As a result these will be amongst the earliest of the archive material to be listened to, viewed, documented and catalogued. Despite this, the 'official' word restated here by Greg and Gary Taylor very recently (within the last year or two?) is that there was no live version in existence of The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke. So...either we know they can't be trusted as they were lying, or they are just shit at their job of archiving and had completely missed its existence on the tapes. Either is not good. |

Possibly - my personal preference is that they could still tell us and leave us with a sense of anticipation for future releases; I'd prefer that to a suprise at the last minute when something is announced just before release. |

My optimisic self is back. In ten years they will re-release Rainbow and to force everybody to buy it again, they will include the full march night in the RedRay (the sucessor of the BluRay). Basic business strategy. And about Hangman, yeah, it probably be included in ''Queen Forever'' along with the full version of ''Face it Alone''. |

Doga 13.09.2014 09:35 |
Oh no, the new RedRays are the same device the NASA will use in the spaceships to Mars, the images looks so clear some conspiracy theorists will say it is alien technology. |
BETA215 13.09.2014 09:41 |
^ But that alien technology, is called YellowDisc. When QPL release Rainbow in YellowDisc, you will remember this comment and how accurate I am. RedRay, is a DVD with a different name. We know BluRay. And we will know YewDisc.. Also, we will rock you, DVD. |
