Queen London, UK Hammersmith Odeon December 24, 1975 By request.. I know this is technically official material, but as soon as this show is released on DVD everyone is going to buy it and this will be rendered obsolete. So this is just a place holder, right? Hammersmith Odeon '75, 2009 mix - Version 2.0 This is a new audio mix of the famous concert, first broadcast on BBC 1 in November 2009. There were digital and TV broadcasts, and the bulk of this audio is taken from the latter. Three other tracks of this mix are taken from other official sources. Thanks to the ever-fertile mind and technical wizardry of que.123 for making this updated version possible. * Multi-track master > QP studio tinkering > 2009 BBC TV broadcast > DVD > WAV > FLAC level 8 ** Multi-track master > QP studio tinkering > iTunes video download > WAV > FLAC level 8 *** Multi-track master > QP studio tinkering > 2011 'Queen II' Universal CD re-release > WAV > FLAC level 8 1) Now I'm Here * 2) Ogre Battle ** 3) White Queen *** 4) Bohemian Rhapsody (verses) * 5) Killer Queen * 6) The March Of The Black Queen * 7) Bohemian Rhapsody (reprise) * 8) Bring Back That Leroy Brown * 9) Brighton Rock 10) Son And Daughter [cut] ** 11) Keep Yourself Alive * 12) Liar * 13) In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited * 14) Big Spender / Jailhouse Rock * Total running time: 57:20 link Enjoy, and keep it lossless (although I'm aware some of this source material wasn't lossless to begin with; still, please don't be a dick by unnecessarily redistributing it in mp3). |

That's perfectly what I asked! Thanks a lot Bob! |
pittrek 20.08.2014 00:58 |
I won't download it because I absolutely hate the drum sound on this new mix and the "fix" on Liar, but thanks anyway for the share |
aristide1 20.08.2014 03:23 |
I believe the best part of the 2009 broadcast is the video. The audio from the digital stream or from the analog TV recorded on DVD is AAC or AC3 (maybe MP3) compressed. But it's the best available for this mix. Thank you. |
Rami 20.08.2014 05:40 |
Thank you very much! |

This and The Rainbow are jewels in the Queen history and this one also deserves an official release. Thanks for this one. |

Hi Wizard, I have the 2009 mix of Ogre Battle from an iTunes video download that I bought, I'll be happy to post it to you if you want - the stereo echo on Brian's guitar that sounded so good in the middle section of the song on the original mix has been removed to a single guitar!??? |

Sad to hear they axed the second guitar, but for completeness' sake, of course I'd love to update this post. |

Do you want the video as well or just the audio? Should I post it to you direct to distribute or share it here, it being official and all! |

This forum isn't really moderated... When the cat's away the mice will play. So feel free to post both links here. This Dutch file sharing website is the best of its ilk - link |

Thanks. |

One more question Wizard, does your share really contain Son & Daughter as stated in your first post as it was not in the 2009 BBC broadcast? If it does not then I also have this on an iTunes (2009 mix) video. |
The Real Wizard 20.08.2014 14:51 |
Silly me. Of course that song isn't there. Thanks for asking that ! So please feel free to upload all four files and post the links here. |
que.123 20.08.2014 15:57 |
Here is the link for the 2009 video + audio for Ogre Battle (not shown on TV): link Wizard, you requested 4 download links so I think you want the audio extracted as a separate file, is that right? Son & Daughter to follow. |
que.123 20.08.2014 16:07 |
Here is the link for the 2009 video + audio for Son & Daughter (not shown on TV): link I hope these links work OK as it was a bit difficult to understand the Dutch website! |

These are the audio only wave files extracted from the video: Ogre Battle - link Son & Daughter - link |

que.123 wrote: These are the audio only wave files extracted from the video: Ogre Battle - link Son & Daughter - linkBrilliant - thanks so much ! I'll have an updated merge up shortly. |
BETA215 21.08.2014 02:53 |
That version you're going to create, would be the best/definitive version? |
pittrek 21.08.2014 03:13 |
If you like the new mix |
BETA215 21.08.2014 03:21 |
But if I don't? |
The Real Wizard 21.08.2014 03:30 |
Then why are you here ?? FYI - I've updated the initial post of this thread with version 2.0 ! |
BETA215 21.08.2014 03:37 |
I haven't downloaded even the 1st version. I'm only asking. |
Barry Durex 21.08.2014 04:10 |
To clarify, these two wav files are from m4v and would be lossy. On this merge only White Queen is actually lossless (If you rate CD quality as lossless of course) Nicam audio from analogue TV would be a less lossy source for the bulk of this merge. |
The Real Wizard 21.08.2014 04:44 |
Yeah, I know all that.. Feel free to replace it with a cleaner version. This was never meant to be definitive. |
Barry Durex 21.08.2014 05:40 |
^ I'll try my best to get a copy. I only mentioned it again on this thread in case somebody here recorded a copy from analogue TV on a nicam VCR rather than from the digital broadcast. Sorry, I misunderstood when you said keep it lossless in your first post. |
The Real Wizard 21.08.2014 14:03 |
It's all good :) |
Barry Durex 21.08.2014 16:00 |
From hereon, let all lossy flac files be known as flossy files. |
Doga 21.08.2014 16:49 |
Many thanks for this file. This is an iconic show, and any update is welcome. |
Oscar J 21.08.2014 16:50 |
This is sounding much better than the new Rainbow mix. The dynamics of the drums haven't been destroyed by compression. White Queen sounds absolutely AMAZING. Thanks for the share! |

I made a little progress on the nicam audio front. There will be a sample posted at TTD later today, I'll post the link here when it appears. I think a full share might appear on there at some point, but not just yet. But at least we can compare the audio right? |
Barry Durex 24.08.2014 10:21 |
Here is the post taken from TTD (new audio mix - nicam) NIH - Hammersmith 1975 Taken from the 2009 Analogue TV broadcast in the UK. Sony SL-HF950 > PROX (super beta pro mode) > 24 bit WAV > FLAC level 8 link |

Thanks. |

On checking my files again I notice SWAFIB was also broadcast on BBC Radio 6 music (digital radio) in 2011 and again in 2013 . |
The Real Wizard 02.11.2014 15:02 |
Interesting. Did you manage to snag a copy of it? |
Barry Durex 02.11.2014 16:03 |
I have it, but it is lossy AAC BBC Radio 6 Music - (60 minutes) Track list:- Now Im Here Ogre Battle White Queen Bohemian Rhapsody Killer Queen March Of The Black Queen Bring Back That Leroy Brown Keep Yourself Alive Brighton Rock/Son & Daughter Liar In The Lap Of The Gods Revisited See What A Fool I've Been It's Late (BBC sessions) I'll upload and post a link tomorrow. |
The Real Wizard 02.11.2014 19:04 |
Sounds like it may be the older more familiar version, as evidenced by Keep Yourself Alive once again being in the wrong place in the setlist and the BBC version of It's Late. Still, curious to hear. |
Barry Durex 03.11.2014 03:53 |
I think you may well be right. It is probably this one, although the link in the thread is dead now. link It's a very small file but the audio quality is surprisingly very good. I have uploaded it here:- link |
The Real Wizard 03.11.2014 09:59 |
Thanks for posting the file. Sometimes I hate it when I'm right. The BBC very likely just spun a bootleg, like this one: link |
Barry Durex 07.11.2014 05:06 |
^ As the concert was originally recorded by the BBC for whistle test I really don't think they would broadcast a bootleg. More likely it was a re-broadcast of a previous edit the BBC made, and that was in turn bootlegged. What did you think of the NIH nicam audio by the way, is it worth pursuing the rest of the 47 minute broadcast? |
DepeX 07.11.2014 14:24 |
I think yes, 'cause the nicam is a lossless source, while the 2009 BBC DVD audio is lossy. Correct me if I'm wrong. |
ShineHedgehog 07.11.2014 15:45 |
Sounds fresh, as for me. Good alternative to FM source from the same time. |
Barry Durex 07.11.2014 18:00 |
Nicam is lossy, but a lot less lossy. |
tomchristie22 29.12.2014 19:58 |

Sorry Barry, but since this version has Freddie's voice AutoTuned (you can hear it in the "Around, around, around" section in the video) and fixed drums, wouldn't it be totally digital? A digital audio + a lossy format = not quite analog. I say it because it's being kept like a rarity, and the description of the video says that he recorded this BBC audio stream from the analogue broadcast just before TV in the UK went totally digital, like if it did a huge difference. |

No need to be sorry! I don't think anyone is claiming nicam is analogue are they? Nicam audio was transmitted on terrestrial TV in the UK before the digital changeover and accompanied the analogue video transmission. As regards auto tune, nobody is saying it wasn't used in this 2009 mix as well. Rather than a rarity, this is a different mix. Some people like it, others don't. .....at least it has been preserved in nice quality. |
Wilki Amieva 03.02.2016 14:56 |
NICAM has a sampling rate of only 32 kHz - not really good. |
Wilki Amieva 03.02.2016 15:02 |
...And a dynamic range of just 14 bits (16384 levels) - much worse than CD. |
Barry Durex 03.02.2016 15:46 |
Yeah, I got Google too ">link So there was a better option for recording an audio stream from a TV broadcast in 2009? |
