Queen Milton Keynes, UK National Bowl June 5, 1982 An edited version of the Milton Keynes show was broadcast several times in 1983. In the US it was a simulcast, with FM radio airing audio in stereo at the same time as the mono TV broadcast. These five tracks are all that have ever emerged from the FM broadcast (on this disc the rest of the show is the common mono recording). They are superior to any other broadcast copy I've ever heard, and I personally prefer it to the official release. Multi-track > ? > FM stereo broadcast > ? > CDR (1) > WAV > FLAC level 8 1) Flash (tape) 2) The Hero 3) We Will Rock You (fast) 4) Play The Game 5) Staying Power link Enjoy, keep it lossless, and don't bootleg ! |

I received it as a regular 18 song version (the exact same running length as the MTV broadcast), but the rest of the tracks are in mono and actually worse than the Command Performance / Rock It To The Bowl bootlegs. So for now, this is all we've got. |

"Queen: Live In Milton Keynes" is being repeated on Sky Arts 1 HD (UK) - Thursday 21st Aug @ 12:30PM and Friday 22 Aug @ 7:30PM. Maybe someone on here is better equipped than myself to capture the audio in the highest possible quality. |

Chinwonder2 wrote: What would be the best method be to record it so that it can be transferred to a computer? :/ -ChinI don't know if it's the best way, but it is possible to record the HD broadcast from the scart out of a SKY or Virgin Media box to a dvd recorder, preferably using RGB if possible. Obviously it would only be an SD recording of an HD broadcast though. For a better quality audio recording capture via audio out direct to a PC, although the digital audio would still be lossy. A blu-ray recorder would make a better job of it if you had one I guess. |
Chinwonder2 10.06.2017 18:14 |
Unfortunately I don't own or know anyone who still has a DVD Recorder, since DVRs came out they have died off and are expensive to get a decent one :( -Chin |

It should certainly be possible. Do you have Sky Arts HD as part of a SKY or Virgin Media package? |

Barry Durex wrote: Read page 63 Ok interesting, thanks for pointing that out. I'm kind of a noob with video/audio on the technical side, does that mean I can just plug an S-Video or Component cables straight from my TV to the system or plug in a VHS capture box which I have lying around? Here's the VHS to PC box I have: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/vhs-to-dvd-converter-for-pc-and-mac-a83qb Also is S-Video better quality than the component? -Chin |
Barry Durex 11.06.2017 13:21 |
It depends what outputs your sky / virgin media box has. Scart outputs are at best RGB, then s-video, and lastly composite. HDMI and component signals will not be accepted by your combo unit so the best you can hope for is RGB. |
Chinwonder2 11.06.2017 14:49 |
Ok, hands for your help Barry. I'm going to try this tomorrow and see if I have any luck! :) -Chin |

Far better if someone can record the HD broadcast, and hopefully somebody on QZ has the ability to do that on Friday. The Sky Arts HD channel is 121 on a sky box and the the SD channel is on 223. |

Chinwonder2 15.06.2017 11:04 |

Barry Durex 15.06.2017 11:14 |
True, I assumed from your earlier post that you had a sky or Virgin box :/ |
que.123 15.06.2017 14:01 |
I have Sky Arts and a DVD recorder so I can record it in SD if that is any good? If you specifically require HD then unfortunately I cannot help as I don't have a HD subscription or a Blu-ray recorder. |
Chief Mouse 15.06.2017 15:09 |
SD is good enough if you can do it :) |
que.123 15.06.2017 16:20 |
OK Chief will do, I will use the best quality setting (which produces approximately 4GB for one hour). |
Barry Durex 15.06.2017 16:34 |
That's great, one thing though. If possible use the scart output with RGB on your box to the scart input with RGB on your DVD recorder (if it has one). |

Have you ever had the opportunity to do any visual comparison? Unfortunately my TV, Sky Box and DVD recorder are all "turn of the century" stuff i.e. I got my Sky box in 2002 but flicking through the manual this morning it is dated 1999! I guess that there is still time for someone else with better equipment to "step into the breach". |
Chinwonder2 16.06.2017 07:04 |
It's the audio that we are most interested in so the visuals don't really matter, but record it anyway and until someone records a HD version of it, it will be the best version we have :) -Chin |

que.123 wrote:No worries, please still record it. You could also record audio direct from the box to a PC simultaneously if you have the leads. I do have the option to record to uncompressed LPCM on my DVD recorder (as opposed to Dolby Digital) though I am not sure if this will yield better results as I assume the audio will be broadcast in a compressed format? (Similar in concept to taking an MP3, converting it to wav and claiming it is lossless). It is no problem for me to record LPCM so I will do that just in case there is a benefit. |

Thanks for that Nitroboy. I have recorded the program but the audio sounds mono to me? It is not a fault on the recording as the adverts/commercials are in stereo - do you guys still want it? It is the version where Freddie's voice cracks in FBG, probably just the original mono audio from the 1983 "The Tube" broadcast rather than an alternate stereo mix. |
Barry Durex 16.06.2017 15:03 |
Yes please. |
que.123 16.06.2017 15:11 |
OK Barry, I was going to edit out the adverts but I might leave them in just to prove that my equipment was recording OK in stereo!!! Have you any preference, adverts in or out? |
Chinwonder2 16.06.2017 15:11 |
Please do upload it if you don't mind. :) -Chin |
Barry Durex 16.06.2017 17:26 |
Leaving them in is fine by me, and yes the edited re-broadcast on channel 4 was also mono. Three of the songs are different on the Sky Arts edit though. Google searches reveal a possible Radio broadcast which might explain the stereo version. |

Or did this discussion already happen in 2004? |

There's plenty of different camera angles, especially during Boh Rhap and TYMD. There could be different angles to each song but I haven't checked fully yet! :P Also it's great to see email notifications working again when you subscribe to topics! :D -Chin |

Has anyone else noticed any other camera angle differences?I prefer this original version of Staying Power with Freddie punching the air in the last shot rather than the view of John that is on the official DVD - each to his own I guess. I really don't know what motivates QPL to change these things? If Freddie had accidently punched Roger in the face with that move (it looks a bit like that from the camera angle) then I could understand them wanting to change it!!! I did notice that during the beginning of NIH on the official release there is a fake view of the crowd taken from the start of TYMD (I think) - this version does not have that edit. |
